I just have my dogsitter say she will take a message and try to reach me. But, I have to say I have a really terrific lady who has been with me many years and is very sharp. I really missed her last year when we were in Tahiti and on WAVE and she was not dog sitting. We had a dog sitter who did a terrible job. I actually made my assistant call my house twice a day and then report in. I think my dogs were okay but when I found out she wasn't sitting by herself, that was it. My neighbor and my cleaning lady "told" on her.
