Dear LCT Friends:

I haven't been here much lately...and unfortunately it's because Tom is ill.

He's been diagnosed with small lung cancer - a VERY bad kind and we have just finished with his first course of treatment - we now have two weeks off and then he goes again.

I have to laugh when I use the plural pronoun, but any of you who have been through this ordeal know that it is not a solitary journey - I've observed that in an oncology clinic most folks comes in twos - like the ark - hoping for survival.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to be melodramatic, we just hope we can find some more time and a modicum of comfort. As Tom so sagely predicts, we are all dieing of something.

So if you can spare a prayer for him...many thanks, right now that's really our best hope.

Margo, I'm really sorry to hear this, and my thoughts are with you and Tom. I have not been through this myself, but family members have, and as they say, "there but by the grace of...go I".

Dear Friends:

Unfortunately Tom's treatment has reduced his white blood cell count drastically and he was admitted to Sarasota Memorial this afternoon. He's doing fine. He's having some transfusions as I write this email. Tomorrow I will be at the hospital, they have wifi so I'm taking my computer to his bedside! He can have the TV remote, I can have my mac - so we're both good. We hope to have him back home by Monday. I'll keep you posted.
