Sitting in the coffee cafe on the Voyager, so let the sea mail begin!
Had a relaxing day yesterday in Athens. Woke up just before 8:00 am - slept for about 11 hours. Had a wonderful breakfast upstairs at the Roof Garden of the GB, then back to the room to get ready for the day. That turned into naptime - typical. Woke up around 1:30 and then really got ready for the day. Saw Kristin and Greg who who headed out too. Wandered over to the Plaka and found a place for lunch. Jerel had some sort of stuffed eggplant dish and I had beef/lamb gyros. A long wait for the food but it was good.
Afterward we wandered a little more, then back to the GB so we could get ready for the group dinner. We ran into Tony who was waiting for their luggage to arrive. He told me the insurance company really cracked the whip!
After we got ready we met folks down in the lobby bar and saw Joanna who was so happy that their luggage had arrived! Walked over to the restaurant with Brad & Leslie - Brad & Jerel navigated for us. Did a pretty good job too!
Once at the restaurant hugs all around with Russ, Susan, Mark & Arlene. They had 3 tables set up for us outside. It was a beautiful evening. Sat with Tom, Marcie, Joanna, Tony, Brad & Leslie for dinner. Our table shared mussels, calamari, grilled fish and Tony had a kebab that he really enjoyed. Great catching up with everyone. There were 3 cats that congregated right to Marcie who made sure they had a little snack too.
We walked back to the GB with Brad & Leslie - stopped off for a couple of bottles of water at a kiosk store across from the hotel. We got back around 11 and didn't go to sleep until after 12. Jerel asked if he should set an alarm and I said "oh no...we'll wake up". Well - I should know better! I didn't sleep as well as the night before and woke up around 4. Finally got back to sleep and was awakened by people talking in the hallway. It was a little after 10!
So we got up, ordered some room service breakfast and got ready/finished packing etc. Had a call from Stelios that the cabs he was sending to pick us and Peter & Mark up were moved away because there was going to be a parade. Luckily we found them and eventually got our luggage into the cars. It was a quick ride to the port, where the Regent rep greeted us and walked us to passport control. No waiting like last year when we were here for Sea to Sea. The ship is docked right next to the terminal so didn't have to wait for the tram either.
Went to check-in - took about 5 minutes. Dropped our bags off in the cabin and went up to the pool deck for some lunch. Afterward I wanted to see what the new coffee area looked like since I haven't been on the Voyager since the renovations. It's very nice. There's the self serve coffee machine but also a barista. Nice tables and chairs...and of course, wireless! Jerel grabbed our laptops so here I am, just waiting for the rooms to be finished so we can unpack.
Looking forward to a wonderful 14 days on the Voyager!
