I just sent Ngaire an email. We would like to do the British Isles tour. We would be open for a crossing if it were an LCT group. Also saw this one. Anyone interested? It goes to Hawaii and French Polynesia.

Andi,
We have the makings of an LCT Group for the November 2007 Voyager crossing. But the price on that SFO/SFO is really good. Too bad, I can't take that much time away from work or I'd consider it.

Oh, right, I thought this was 2007. That's what I get for doing LCT too late at night. If we have enough time, I would love a crossing tour in 2007, but only with the LCT crowd. Otherwise, it could get boring. There are so many places we haven't been, that we'll just hang loose and see what Ngaire organizes.
After doing the math, I realized we didn't have enough time either. I would like to take one 26 day cruise. That would be heaven.
We're set for the British Isles tour and will do some time in Brittany post cruise. It's always nice to have something like this to which to look forward. I looked at the MUSH list and it looks like so much fun.

ChatKat and Don, Are you going to take RSSC's air for the crossing? I have a friend who does a lot of crossings and she is always pullling her hair out trying to get flights because she always likes to do her own air. I like to do my own air too but I can't imagine it would be inexpensive if you had to buy a one way ticket.

2007 is our "no cruise" year, but I'm wondering if I could talk David into a crossing. If so, we'd probably book onboard in June. We'll see. The MC-Dover is kind of a test--2 or 3 seadays, mostly in the Atlantic. If I can handle that, I could probably handle a crossing. It would have to be a spring one for us, at least for this decade.

Julie, I'm not sure what we will do yet. I even thought about doing a crossing each way, going back to Funchal in April. That way we could do RT Funchal to Funchal and RT FLL to FLL. I checked though on AA about doing mulit-destination and it only came to about $1200 for flights for Nov. 2006. Still we may do RSSC air, just for simplicity.

Same idea here. We'd like to use miles. Maybe will book one way to LAX - Lisbon and Lisbon to Funchal. Then we can Jet Blue back home non-stop.

When Susan booked our April crossing on the Navigator last night, she added the RSSC air thinking even though it was expensive it would probably be cheaper than doing it on our own. This evening I'm going to look at what alternatives we might have.

A lot of times it is more inexpensive to buy a round trip and just use the segment you need. That's especially true in intraeurope flights.

Just noticed that there isn't a Fall crossing listed for the Navigator. The last cruise on the list ends in Monte Carlo on Oct. 28. Would it be safe to assume that beginning Oct 28 there would be a Monte Carlo to Funchal cruise and then a crossing after that (similar to what they are doing in 2006)? Or is the Navigator going into drydock or something--anybody know? We'd love to do a Fall crossing, but the Voyager crossing is a little too late for us, that's why I was checking the Navigator.

I was considering the Navigator too, but, the Voyager timing was okay. Plus, I like have the additional dining venues that are not on Navigator.

Hi Everybody! I have been reading this board forever and finally decided to post a question!
My husband and I are considering a crossing in 2007. Which is better weather/sea wise? spring or fall?
Thanks!

Hi Jen,
Welcome to LCT. We selected the fall crossing because from reading prior postings from people who've sailed the fall sailing, they were happy with the weather. Plus going West you have 25 hour days - so they are longer - you gain time!

Hi Jen,
Welcome! We selected the spring crossing on the Navigator largley because it's a "shortie", only 8 nights --- just get on the ship, go across the ocean, and get off. We have 2 other trips planned for '07 and don't have enough vacation time for a longer cruise. We have only been 2 weeks on the Paul Gauguin, and not been on any other RSSC ships. So, our decision is not based on the ship --- except we do like smaller vs larger ships just as a general rule.
My point is only to say that there may be many reasons that could make your decision go one way or another. Like, tax accountants and such folks probably can't do an April 16th crossing, etc. :) But, if you are able to base your decision on all possible "best of's", this is the place to learn what they are!
Kim
Editing to say: OK, so there is an 8-day crossing in Nov. on the Voyager. I didn't realize that last night. I thought all other TAs were longer. Sorry.

We have a tentative hold on the British Isles. However, in rethinking the costs, we will most likely need to pass.
We found excellent itineraries with great pricing on the 10 day Voyager June 2-12 cruise, Monte Carlo to Dover and 10 day Voyager Sept. 12-22 Dover to Monte Carlo. The Sept. cruise includes Bacelona, the June cruise does not. Anyone else interested in either of these cruises?

Booked SOBIG today!
I like that name, Andi.
Denise - PLEEEESE come on SOBIG. The Sept 12 covers both Rosh Hashanah & Yom Kippur, so even though my birthday falls right on that sailing, wanted to be home for the holidays.

Denise, Are the prices really different? What os the itinerary for MC to Dover?
The BI cruise includes air, so I thought it could be fairly reasonable after all the discounts?

Okay, Mom and I are seriously considering that Nov. 07 crossing. Here's a big question, tho...does anyone have any idea what the Voyager might be doing AFTER the crossing? I ask because, well, we'd like to do something more than just the crossing, but we don't want to do the cruise immediately before, as it's pretty much exactly what we did last year. Is it likely she'll just turn around and go right back?
In looking at past Voyager cruises, it appears that from Ft. Lauderdale should could end up either in the Caribbean, the Panama Canal, or just heading back across the Atlantic. We'd love to do either of the first two. Once we know where she's going after the Nov. crossing, we'll know if we want to book this cruise.

The Voyager will do some Caribbean itineraries before heading out for the world cruise. I can assure you she wont head back over the Atlantic again.

Andi,
Check out June 2 and Sept. 12 cruises on Voyager. Full itineraries are listed. Not only are those cruises 10 days each, but each offers Society Savings and free air. The cost difference for those cruises as opposed to BI is about $4,000. Very significant especially if you are on a tighter budget. Of course, the BI itinerary is different than a Med itinerary. But, we really are interested in the Med itineraries. The cost saving factor was an added bonus for us.

Thinking...thinking.....thinking about doing that TA crossing in Nov, but if we do, we would probably also do the MC to Funchal in addition, thus doing the "Grand Crossing". Now, we like it and we may book it, but then we will look at some other things as they come up, so we could end up not doing it!!!
Here is my question ---- Ngaire, do you maybe know the answer to this? If we wait until MUSH to book, would there be an additional 5% savings for booking onboard? Is that always true or not? These itineraries have not yet shown up on RSSC website, but obviously they will soon, and I would assume that if one called RSSC they would have the info.
So, we are thinking...thinking...thinking - great itinerary and we are seriously considering it.

Just Booked My First Brown and Keene Cruise!!!! I am so excited I can't stand it. Alaska, August 2007. Linda was great. We will firm up everything Monday. I am going on the Naviagtor this July to the Baltics, but that was before I found all of you guys. So when Ngaire's post came out Friday, I spent the day figuring out 2007 instead of doing what I was supposed to be doing. What fun.

JoAnn, if you are onboard the ship then an onboard discount can be added to an existing booking as long as the same category at the same price is still available and it is outside of cancel penalty. In other words if you could cancel and rebook the exact same thing then they will add the 5% onboard to the existing booking. Since the booking already made is fully deposited no money is posted as a cost to your onboard account. Just the 5% discount is added.
Only difference is that onboard booking that is added to a booking already made is NOT transferable like a normal onboard booking.
Sometime next week all the cruises that are currently available will be on the RSSC web site.
Welcome to Brown and Keene Dianne, Linda is a wonderful consultant with a GREAT sense of humor.

Thanks Karen for making it so easy - I was so exited when I saw that 2007 was posted. My group wants to do the Med in the Spring of "07 that would include some Greek ports. Ngaire - the May 19 Navigator looks like it might work for us so keep me in mind when you get your tables done. Would love to encourage other LCTers to join us if it works out. This is a ladies group of friends that has been waiting for a cruise. It's now or never. How fun to have plans in the works - that's the best part. Jan
