May you have a serene cruise with great wifi so you can post sea-mail; have really been missing sea-mail.

For those arriving in Nassau today, get your umbrellas out. Lots of rain. We're anxious to be back on board a ship.

Well we are now on Crystal. We were upgraded to a very nice suite and are enjoying that experience. The ship feels so big! We a constantly turned around, I cannot even imagine one of the mega ships. The food has been outstanding. On the Crystal river boat and the Crystal Esprit the food was great - but smaller ships, less guests. So I was not sure the large ships would provide the same quality. However so far it has been outstanding.
The ship is of course older but nicely refurbished, the crew are wonderful as well. No trivia at afternoon tea I will miss that. Just feels strange as we are so used to Regent and the way it operates.
Today we are in Bimini and we did that little tram into a resort. Walked around a little and came back. not too hot and the water is so beautiful. Tonight eating with Tom, Mona, JoAnn, Frank and Peggy. So nice to have people onboard with us, it makes it a lot more fun.

Oh Ngaire, how wonderful for you to be cruising again. Is it surreal being on a cruise again or does it seem as if everything has gone back to normal? Michael and I live in hope that we'll be able to cruise sooner than later!!!!
We are going backwards with this virus, after everyone thought we were so clever! I just can't see us being in a position to open our borders for quite awhile yet as this Delta extension we've been hit with, has certainly made us wake up in a hurry. We just haven't enough vaccines to go around and if that wasn't enough to contend with, we had a huge crowd, without masks, demonstrating in the city and I dread to think how many extra cases we'll get from that!
Until we get back to normal, I'll keep reading about your travels. I loved your African trip and Ken's photos were absolutely brilliant!

The food has been great, they pour very nice wines and the complimentary spirits are the same as on Regent. Lots of shelf & drawer storage in the staterooms. We're enjoying being back at sea.

NGAIRE'S post. Having a little bit of an issue with internet so decided to use Kens login since it was up and working.
Dinner last night was great. Excellent food and company. The longer you are on a ship the more differences you see. Some good some not so good. Also, of course we like what we are used to as well. Today we are at sea and they offer trivia today. Going to go and see how they handle that. At the end of the trip I will post the variances. Need to complete the full seven days first. Been such a nice feeling to be back at sea. The ocean is very calm and it is not too hot. Mid 80's super nice.

Ngaire and Jim, what is the scuttlebutt onboard regarding Crystal's change in policy for future Serenity cruises?

Marc, the only scuttlebutt is what's in the link you posted. Don't know why any unvaccinated folks would want to sail under those conditions.

Jim, are you going to try to extend two days so you can debark in Miami (and avoid any chance of needing to quarantine in Bahamas)?

Haven't heard anything about quarantining in the Bahamas. We purchased a Bahamas Covid test voucher that we need for going back to the US. We'll get the test on board the day before disembarking.

This is from Ngaire
Things going well. Enjoyed the Brazilian restaurant (Churrascaria) last night. Meat on a skewer coupled with great sides. Lamb, steak, chicken, shrimp were all great. Sides were also really well done. The highlight was pineapple on a skewer and the outside looked like a regular pineapple skin but it was actually made of cinnamon. Lot of fun.
Good lecturers and they have started having trivia daily at 2.00 pm it has been popular. Did a tour of all the different suites that I really enjoyed.
The people who did the swimming with the pigs loved it. Ken has some shots he was given by others. Today we did not get off the ship. Long tender ride and 45 minutes to the beach. We just stayed in and relaxed.
Just a few more days left been good to sail on Crystal and understand the product more.

Ngaire (or any of the LCT Crystalites), Did any of you dine in the Vintage Room? Wondering whether it is worth it?

Never saw the Vintage Room in use. It's extremely expensive as are the reserve list wines. Bahamas requires mask wearing on shore, even outside unless eating or swimming. It gets hot.

On the river cruises we went on in 2019 I do not think anyone used the vintage room either. Extra items on Crystal are all overpriced. The food and service overall was very good.
It was so nice to see people that was the highlight. The islands are really only fun for beach people. Met a really nice couple that have been KLT clients for a long time just never met them before. They are coming to Boots.
Next up for us is the new Silversea Origin in the Galapagos. Looking forward to that new ship. After that the Crystal Endeavor which is a new ship also. Both should be first class.
However stepping on a Regent Ship is what I am looking forward to the most and that will not be until January 3rd.

The charge for the Vintage Room is $275.00 per person, or you can book it for a private party for up to 14 persons for $3300.00.
We are staying on for another week. There are only 330 guests (and 500 crew.) They are alternating nights closing Silk and Churrascaria.

We had the best time. Did not see this thread, as my Ipad was not working until Thursday, when Frank finally went to the Computer guy, and I don't do well with stuff like this on my phone. Enjoyed seeing everyone and our dinner's, the food, our cabin was great, the service was wonderful, in general the ship is beautiful, but I am use to Regent and am looking forward to being back on Regent. Overall we enjoyed cruising again, 7 days was a great start, and I am glad we did it.

I second what JoAnn said. The food and service was great. I had a standard cabin which was pretty small. My legs are black and blue from bumping into the table. I liked the ship, but it's too big for me--looking forward to being back on Regent.
