I snuck up on the scale this morning and just knew that it wasn't going to be pretty after the holidays, but I was thankful to find it was less than a 1 lb gain. I didn't feel that was too bad considering that I overdid the calories a little, had a little more wine than normal, and missed a couple of days of exercise.

How did everyone else do?

Don - that just sounds like a little bit of water weight! It will be gone before you know it. I'm giving myself a couple more days before I stand on the scale though!

This week, I'm back on track! That sound you heard this morning, was just me jumping up and down for joy! Not only did I lose the little bounce upward in weight from the previous week, but I lost another 3 lbs on top of that!

Down a total of 142 lbs and inching toward my goal. 14 more to go!

Don - congratulations!! You are definitely back on track. I thought I heard someone jumping around this morning. ;)

I had another one of my big .2 losses this week. I'm sure this week will be much better.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments!! I am definitely looking a lot different than when I first met everyone on ROAR and MUSH.

Wes - you are right, my husband deserves kudos too as he has been so supportive and encouraging, and very helpful in making sure our veggies are prepared every night while I'm at the gym. I am planning on doing some diving on our Sea Dream cruise in a couple of weeks. It should be quite interesting to try and figure out how much weight I won't need in order to descend!

No weight loss this week. However, I did lose some inches from my last measurement. Body fat is now within the goal range.

Don you continue to amaze me and I am so happy for you! :app:

I gained a few lbs this week, but I know why...I bake cookies - I eat cookies! Once the holiday is over with I will get back on track.

My daily walks are now up to just over 4 miles (of hills and flat areas), so I feel like I am still doing ok even with a couple added lbs! ;)

Thanks Bert!! Quite a difference from MUSH I know. I'm not sure who that person was!!

Don and Sue - you are both doing great!

Let's see - I think I was down another lb last week, so that's 107 total. It would be nice to make it an even 110 before the end of the year!

Well we are here at Disney World for the week. I stepped on the scale Thursday morning before we headed out, and found that I was down another 2 pounds.

Checking in to see how everyone is doing over the holidays. I lost 1/2 pound, so I guess I haven't eaten too many cookies.

My daily walk is now up to 4.5 miles (I don't walk on weekends).

I think this thread needs a little bump, especially since it's the start of a brand new year!!

I had a bit of a gain when I returned from my Sea Dream cruise and have basically maintained over the last week. However, I am 100% back on plan tomorrow (we have brunch out with Jerel's dad today) and am hoping to shed another 35 lbs this year - hopefully before Tahiti in June!!

I agree that it is a good time to bump this up. I have been really bad for the past three weeks and need to be accountable. I have not logged any of my food into my calorie counter and have been getting really sloppy about things.

We did get a new exercise bike and I have been diligent about using it, getting in 45 minutes each day. Our gym has changed over their equipment, so I have to get trained on the new weight equipment next week and get back to lifting weights.

Anyways, I still lost another pound over the holidays, which I thought was pretty good considering that I had lots of "low carb", but not necessarily "low calorie" treats and was not very careful on the amount of wine that I drank. So, I am down a total of 145 lbs, with 117 of those coming off during 2007. I am now in the "acceptable" range, but am 11 pounds from my goal weight, which I hope to achieve by Easter.

Good luck to all in 2008! Here is to all us LOSERS!!! LOL cheer

Don...you are awesome!! What a great loss in 2007 - simply incredible. I lost 65 lbs, which isn't too bad.

I am still up about 3 lbs from vacation and the holidays. My problem is water retention from salt in outside food and alcohol. Hopefully it will be gone in the next week.

I am happy to report that I did accomplish one of my goals already for 2008, which was to run a mile without stopping. I guess I sold myself short, because I managed it the other day in 12:45 and it wasn't that difficult, so now I'm going to work toward running 3.1 miles without stopping, which is 5K. My friend who challenged me said if I can run it within the next 2 weeks I have to work toward 10K!!

It really is Sue! Thanks for your support. I so wish that we would have been able to meet up in Funchal and on CROSS, but there will be other opportunities I'm sure!

Great job Andrea!!! I told somebody the other day about your amazing accomplishments this past year. I am always more impressed when women lose weight than when men do, because I know how much harder it is for you gals to lose than us guys!

The 10K sounds like a great challenge. Something to work towards!!! I keep thinking about maybe doing a triathalon, but I'm just not sure that my knees would be able to handle the running part. I do pretty good on the bike, and I used to swim competitively, so if I could just these old bones to cooperate, who knows!

Anyway, keep up the good work!

I am back with my weekly update. Last week I came down with the flu, so I got absolutely no exercise in this past week. I am still under the weather, but it is the first time that I have been sick in a long long while. I did however get back to logging all my food in, so that was at least a step in the right direction. I guess it paid off. I stepped on the scale this morning and found that I was down 2 more lbs, which means that I am now only 9 lbs away from goal.

How did everybody else fair last week?

Hi everybody! Wow, what a holiday season. They seem to get shorter every year. It is great to read through all the posts I've missed and it sounds like everyone is doing well. Don, you have to be very excited about getting close to your goal. Just a few more weeks huh? That should be a huge party.

I have been stagnant in my weight loss. I did alright over the holidays and did not gain any. But after several years of the yo-yo thing, I finally broke down last week and hired a sports coach that specializes in bicycling. We sat down for 2 1/2 hours and talked about my goals. He is very positive and experienced. I started my training yesterday and am very excited to have someone firmly guiding me. I am confident that I will be reporting progress over the coming months.

Don and Andrea - You are truly an inspiration. If you can do it, I can do it.

Dave

Oh No! Say it ain't so! Actually gained a pound last week :(

Oh well, I am so close to where I need to be and the last few pounds are going to be really slow, but I will get there. It didn't help me being sick last week and not being able to get my exercise in. Of course, it also didn't help me eating and drinking too much! Isn't it feed a fever??? LOL

Andrea, how is the running coming? I read the article "Going from a Couch potato to 5K", and thought about it. I'm just not sure about whether my knees can hold out. I guess there really is only one way to find out, isn't there?

Dave, how about your training? How is it going?

Well, I am happy to report that the pound is gone as well as a few additional ounces. I got back on the bike again, and got stricter about logging my food, keeping the calories and carbs down a bit. Seems to be working.

Don it sounds like you are doing well! Glad you are getting over the flu and feeling better! I can't believe you are just about at your goal - it has been a journey you can be proud of! cheer

Dave good for you - stick to it and you will feel much better.

I lost 9 lbs last week (due to being quite ill) and I hope to put a few back on as I didn't need to really take anymore off - just needed to maintain.

I want to get back to my 5 miles of walking, but still feel weak from my hospital stay. The doc says it won't be long and I will be strong enough to hit the trail! :)

Andrea how's it going? I am sure you are doing well - I am so proud of you, too!

You and Don helped me to keep on track this past year. I had my cholesterol and triglycerides checked yesterday and for once I am anxious to get the results!

Sue, I hope you're feeling better - and that you get good results from your cholesterol test!!

Don, glad to hear you're feeling better! My running is coming along nicely. The C25K program is quite popular now - I have a few friends who are doing it.

Right now I can run about 1.5 miles without stopping and walking a bit, and I can do 5K in about 45 minutes. I'm not going get any ribbons for speed at this point, that's for sure! I only run every other day because I've had knee problems in the past and don't want to overdo. I did find a 5 mile race that I'm planning on running in Boston in May.

The scale hasn't been moving lately (either up or down), but I've been doing a lot of strength training and running, so I'm hoping that's the reason. Since I have ICE coming up next week I'm not going to stress about it!
