I just looked at the Ca Dario website - I did not know that he is partners with others for Bucatini and Pano e Vino...and the other places he mentions Prego, Ca Brea - are all favorites in LA.

Hmm, Jerry's roommate from the Naval Academy lives just outside of Santa Barbara in Santa Ynez. We haven't seem them in a while, so depending on when you have this shindig, we might try to kill two birds with one trip and join you all and visit them at the same time. Just don't make it during CAMEL--April 15 through May 11. If it's girls only, I'll just leave Jerry in Santa Ynez while we girls whoop it up.

Peggy, have a grand time in the Turks and Caicos! Sounds like a special get-away with your granddaughters.

Denise, Santa Barbara should be wonderful too, and a great place to celebrate Alan's birthday and your anniversary. We've been to Santa Barbara only once and loved it. So charming. The restaurant discussion is making me hungry! Don, we don't have anywhere quite that glamorous within easy driving distance of us in the Dallas area, do we?

Priscilla, what do you mean, we have the Fort Worth Stockyards!!!! ;) . Seriously, try out Granbury sometime. Quaint town, good restaurants and nice scenery.

Peggy, how true. Granbury is such an interesting little town, someplace nice within our easy reach where we haven't been for a number of years. And hey, Fort Worth (including the Stockyards area) is a place we've taken many visitors!

Lets see, Santa Barbara is about two hours north of Orange County, but within two hours, we could make it all the way to Paris!
Texas, that is! LOL

There is even a plethora of fine french dining venues to chose from. Crawford's Hole in the Wall, The Catfish King, Longhorn Barbeque, Roadhouse Diner, and my personal favorite, Papa Murphy's Take 'n Bake where they serve a mighty fine country fried baquette sandwich, called a Monty Greasto! LOL

Yes!

A place for dreams. A place for heartbreak. A place to pick up the pieces. AND A PLACE THAT IS NOT QUITE SANTA BARBARA! LOL

btw, that was the tagline from the movie, minus the SB reference of course! ;)

Wow - that is amazing!

I hope they don't bump us for someone that may come along and want to do both segments since we are only on the last leg of this cruise.

Denise I have no idea if that is allowed or not, but the thought came in to my mind when I read your post!

Didn't they bump Don and Diana up to a better category on CROSS due to someone wanting their specific suite that was doing both legs of the cruise or did I dream that?

I didn't mean to start any negative rumors about this actually happening, so please don't get me wrong...but the thought did enter my mind.

Yes, I believe Don and Diana's suite was changed. Maybe Don can chime in here, so I don't speak out of turn.

Moving or upgrading you to different suite is one thing, bumping another. I'd be terribly disappointed if I planned and anticipated only to be told "sorry, better luck next time :( " Not to say Regent does that. I don't have the answer to that question.

I doubt Regent would do that. they might call and ask if you would consider giving up your cabin and offer you some other compensation or another cruise with an upgrade or something like that, but I really don't think they'd bump anyone like that - and I doubt that Ngaire would let it happen to her clients. With both segments waitlisted now, it would seem unlikely to me. Now I don't presume to know it all, but thats my gut feeling.

There was somebody doing multiple segments, not just the two, so I was asked to move to another cabin.

Well that certainly will help ease the end of sailing blues! Yes, two bills in one month - for our on board bill from Nautica and our cruise fare from RSSC.

Delta just called too. Seems Air France changed schedules from CDG to NCE. We are paper ticketed and have to go to the airport Delta Counter and get new tickets. Sheesh. We were there yesterday. Sounds like we will just have to head that way to have lunch near LAX!

Hey Sue. Is my lack of enthusiasm that obvious?

Get those credit cards ready - final payment will be here before we know it. Not only will it be final payment time, it will be more FF miles accrued for the next journey!

Woa, that caught my eye!. I better check my flights as we are flying CDG to Nice in AF as well.

Kathy, on what flight/date are you going to Nice?

We leave on 10/31 and our CDG Flight is 11/1.

Actually, the new flight gives us margin for error and the old one did not!

Our flight to Nice is on 11/2 and it is now at 11 AM.

Originally we had approx 3 hours between our Continental flight and the AF flight. But I checked and that flight does not exist anymore and they put us on one that gives us 1 hour 50 minutes connecting time. I am wondering if that is sort of tight and I should ask to be moved to the next AF flight? That one will give us 4 hrs connecting time. It sounds like a lot but if our flight from the states is delayed it won't be that much . Plus, don't we have to do immigration in CDG?

Anybody has connected in CDG that can shed some light?

When I posed that question to the Delta agent, they told me that Air France said connect time of 1 hour is accptable. I was on 1 1/2 hours. Now we have 2 1/2 - which makes me happier. We have not flown into CDG before.

We are flying Delta from ATL to EWR and have almost a 4 hour cushion (this flight shows it is late about 50% of the time).

In Newark we transfer to Air Portugal and fly to Lisbon. We have about 3 hours in LIS before our flight to Funchal.

I would much rather have too much time vs. having to rush in strange airports. :)

What did everyone book for excursions on CROSS? We only booked one, the SouthIsland tour in Lanzarote.

I haven't even looked at excurions yet. We booked a couple private tours with Fred and Pat for Taurodant and Rabat.

Thinking we might just do the other ports via taxi. We want to walk Las Ramblas in Barcelona and do some photography of the Gaudi architecture. In Funchal, I bet we can taxi too and walk back after the basket ride and botanical gardens. In Malaga, we are going to walk around locally. Haven't thought about much else for the ports.

We just booked Monserrat from Barcelona and the Alhambra from Valencia. Now it all seems real and is very exciting.

Kathy and Sue,

Yes, I think I'll also feel better with longer connecting time. You know Murphy's law.... Plus, I can always have a café au lait in CDG and wait. It's not the end of the world.

Sue, where do you check the on time statistics? Is that something available for international flights? Thanks

Joanne,
In Lanzarote I prefer the Northern one. I don't feel like getting up on the camel. But I have to wait and talk to DH. I'm in PR visiting my family .

IN Valencia I find bizarre they are there only 4 hours. They might as well not stop. It is a big city. We'll probably take a taxi and wing it.
