Doing the Deilmann Doc Dance!!! Just received our docs about 5 minutes ago!!! REALITY IS SETTING IN...3 WEEKS FROM TOMORROW AND WE ARE OFF TO LONDON/PARIS AND RIVER CRUISING ALONG THE SEINE!!!

Denise, hope you have a wonderful time and give us a detailed trip report. I get brochures from Viking all the time and was curious if those cruises were good.

I don't know if you will get a chance but if you do, make sure you see http://www.vaux-le-vicomte.com/ and http://www.a-castle-for-rent.com/castles/chenonceau.htm. Those are two of my favorite chateau. Vaux-le-Vicomte was built by the same architect that built Versailles and the history of the owner is very interesting. The Carriage House is not to be missed and the gardens were very nice. It is located just south of Paris off the N6 and looks like it might be an excursion on your Seine cruise if it takes the southern route.

Also about 8 km south of Paris is The Roseraie du Val-de-Marne in l'Haÿ-les-Roses. The most beautiful rose gardens I have ever seen. It's definitely worth the time to visit there.

Todd and I wish you an Alan an amazing cruise experience. I can't wait to hear all about it when you get back. As you know, a river cruise is way up there on my list and I'm dying to hear what you think of it. It seems like a wonderful blend between cruises and a land trip. Unpack once, but get to spend more time in different places and perhaps really get a sense of things. (Rather than getting just enough of a flavor to know you want to return some day.)

Karen1029, Thanks for your suggestions! Don't know if time will allow, but we will try to take in as much as we can, if possible.

This trip has been relatively easy to plan; however, there are a few things to wrap up. We've sailed, exclusively, on RSSC for the last 4 years. All of those fantastic cruises have been with LCTers. So, Deilmann will be a very new experience for us! Posted on the Riverboat Cruises board on CC are some very favorable Deilmann trip reports. We feel confident that Deilmann will meet and possibly exceed our expectations! If it does, there will be more river cruising in our future.
