Sleeping? From 26 June to 2 July we will be above the Artic Circle only a week after the Summer Solstice. We'll see the sun rise the morning of the 26th and the next time we'll see it set will be the evening of the 2nd. Watch the movie "Insomnia" to get the idea. Preferably the Norwegian original (on Criterion DVD with English subtitles) set in Tromso rather than the Robin Williams remake set in Alaska (save that version for your next Alaska cruise). Fortunately, the cabin window curtains are nice and opaque!

Might also be time to reread Bear Island by Alistair MacLean.

We experienced that on another cruise - it is unnerving to me - I love Sambuca when it is dark outside - light???? Tab probably :pass: :pass:

Joanna, darling - If it's 2:00 a.m., even in full sun, as we experienced a couple of years ago at Nordkapp, one does not drink Tab. Sambuca would be entirely appropriate. Otherwise, one might choose another adult beverage - I was quite content to stand on our balcony while sipping a very pleasant Macallan single malt scotch. The "never getting dark" thing is a bit weird but kind of cool. Fortunately, after several glasses of Macallan, one tends to doze off irrespective of the sunlight. Better than Ambien, no??

Marcie, my folks Joan and Chuck, are in Cabin 838.

Cindy, a good room, although as far back as you can go without having a stern facing cabin. You will need to learn the "crew" stairwell that will take you straight to the Horizon lounge in around 20 seconds. :D

i agree...Isn't that intersting? We have never had a bad balcony experience on RSSC. The hotel manager told us one time at dinner that the balcony issue is a huge complaint problem. I think mostly smoking. We really don't have any issue with that, and have not had any other problems except for that one time with the people with the kids that screamed 24/7 on the diamond.

We had young couple on first Diamond cruise who bickered on balcony, in loud voices, non stop for 7 days - we were thrilled to wave good-bye as we continued on for another peaceful 7 days -

I think Olivia is in 648 the same suite she had on TAP.

I am now in 664, directly across the hall from where I was on TAP.

Marcie - you and Tom can come visit the old homestead anytime!! 648 was the first cabin we had on Voyager for the Baltics cruise.

Cheers, Anne

Cindy,
You and David are our next door neighbors. We are in Cabin 670. I promise we will not be loud on the balcony. However, we CAN have races to the lounge! ;)

Cheers, Pam

Hope you all have a fantastic time. As it turns out, we could have gone, but it was too dicey back in Feb. We're booked for the one in '08, but surely would have enjoyed being with you all this year.

In case anyone wants to give us a ring-a-ding-ding our cabin # has changed to 721. Don't call 819, a stranger will answer

I think a lot of cabin numbers changed from that original list published way back when. 648 seems to be my home for TAP, FJORDS, and some other cruise in my future, can't remember which one! It was nice that on TAP, Ngaire put a list on our doors with everyone's cabin number. I just made reservations the other day bringing in my Joanna from England for only about $250, with a great schedule from Manchester. That $1000 air credit sure did save me a few dollars on this cruise! So she is asking if she can bring lots of drycleaning onboard! Yes, yes, and we will spend the rest on the spa! I hope my favorite guy in the salon is with us for my favored scalp treatment!

I'm sure the list on page 1 is all wrong now...not sure if I should even try and update it anymore? Olivia, Sandy & Dennis are listed in 648 ??

No reason to update Marcie. EVeryone has a list of cabin numbers in their tickets. That should work. Suzie had a last minute change to 721. Cabin lists early on always seem to change for one reason or another.

Pam, Yeah!!! If we decide we just can't force ourselves to the lounge race, we can always pass back and forth from our in suite setups! I can't wait!!

Hello All,

Doug was very nice to tell me about this site - and even nicer to give me an introduction! Thanks, Doug!
My husband, 12 year old daughter, and I are leaving on Wednesday for Copenhagen. We will be at the Marriott (seems to be the "place to be") for a couple of days before joining the cruise. We have been on a similar cruise to this several years ago on Crystal - went all the way to North Cape, but not to Spitsbergen. So, we are really excited about this cruise - also we really like Regent. We have been on Navigator twice and Mariner, but never on Voyager. My daugther is (hopefully) not one of those hellions - this will be her 10th cruise, so we would not keep taking her if she were not well behaved. Now that she is older, if she doesn't like where we are eating, then she is happy to order room service and watch a video!

I have been lurking earlier today - and was really impressed with all the good information that you have exchanged - and the fun you have. Much more lively about this cruise than Cruise Critic! My husband and I have signed up for the Circle of Interest - did any of you sign up for that? It sounds really fun.

Hope to be able to meet you - only a few more days!

Best to all, Janice aka NJBelle

See, Janice, I told you so. Is this a great and friendly group or what! Have a wonderful cruise ya'all. Lynn and I won't be too far behind on PUBS. Sure wish I had had a surgery date for the hip replacement before the Feb 15 penalty date, because we were really looking forward to cruising with you all. As it turned out, the hip is better with a week to spare. Didn't play great golf the other day, but it wasn't too bad considering.
