We've just booked our first Silversea cruise for November 21st out of Fort Lauderdale, on Silver Whisper. With only 6 months to go, the sense of anticipation is already building, as well as a sense of dread that there is only 6 months to lose all the cruise pounds we have just gained (see introduction)
so what lies in store for us? and is there anyone out there who is joining us on this cruise?

ian and gus, you might want to go to this link for some photos and a review of the ship www.shipparade.com/indx.htm I think there might be a passanger review there as well. Crusinsince75 has been on Whisper as well, if you click on his name, you can see his posts all listed, and I'm sure you'll find a lot of info there. Happy cruising!

Fred and I have booked that cruise. We look forward to meeting you and to the six months of anticipation we will enjoy. We will be in 805. This will be our first Silversea cruise. We have very high expectations. We LOVE Radisson and will be spending 14 glorious days on the Paul Gauguin beginning 5/21.

Ian and Gus, we have been on the Whisper and in fact, leave tomorrow for Rome to catch the Whisper in Civitavecchia next week. You are going to love it. We are going to be on the Whisper again, the week just before you. We are doing Ft. Lauderdale to Barcelona.
We will post a review of or Med cruise when get back.
Join us on the weight loss thread in the off topic section. We are going to need all the help and support we can get when we get back from our cruise to get back on track.

The Whisper is a beautiful ship. I am sure you will have a great time. I like her the best of all the Silversea ships.

Kathy - You are too kind. We, too, hope to bump into you on board one of the cruises. Ah, what will it be? - RSSC, Silversea, Seabourne, or Oceania? A tasty selection indeed.
Don & Diana - Please post when you get back from your Med cruise. Inquiring minds want to know (and we need dissonance reduction related to our taking a cruise on SS instead of RSSC).
Ian & Gus - Only six months away...
Cheers, Fred

Just returned from Silver Shadow Venice to Rome (with a few days in Paris post-cruise) and that is why I am sitting here at 5:00 a.m. unable to sleep. I will write a review as soon as I can but just to say that the Silversea experience was fabulous...loved every minute and could find very few minor negatives as compared to RSSC (we have only been on the Voyager LA to Sydney Jan. 2004)...Definitely will want to do another trip with Silversea!

Fred and Pat - we are four decks below you in 414. No veranda for us, but then this cabin is still much bigger than any of the others we've been in....and the bathroom - a shower and a bathtub and two sinks....no more rows over who gets ready first...bliss
Susan - looking forward to reading your review
Diana & Don - have a great cruise; tell us all about it when you get back.

Ian - You are going to love the SS cabins. They are very similar to the ones on Voyager (not too surprising, since both ships were built by the same shipyard and maybe even designed by the same naval architect - that info was on a post; but I don't recall the particulars and am far too slothful to try to find that old post). The bathrooms are excellent, particularly the separate shower. That leaves the bathtub for lounging and also for hanging our snorkeling togs to dry. There is an abundance of out-of-sight storage in the bathroom as well, which allows one both to keep the bathroom very tidy and to not leave potentially embarassing items in plain view. The closet is very commodious - one could practically live in it - but too many of us have already done that for far too long, no?? (Oops, political commentary, contrary to the rules of this marvelous board - Karen, consider it humor, rather than political, OK??)
We got a veranda for this cruise, as we did on the Paul Gauguin, because I am a bit claustrophobic and might get even crazier than usual if I did not have exits on both sides of the cabin (which, of course, makes little sense considering that the exit on the balcony side would mean going overboard!!). Oh well, phobias (claustro- or otherwise) are not by their nature logical.
Do you guys like snorkeling? Several of our stops appear to offer some good options for paddling around and looking at cute fishies.
Anyone else had good experience with snorkeling at any of our destinations: Cozumel, Belize City, Santo Tomas (Guatemala), Roatan Island (Honduras), Ocho Rios, or George Town on Grand Cayman? I assume that there is little snorkeling on Grand Cayman other than diving into off-shore banking operations - ah, shades of John Grisham novels and corporate avoidance of taxes (oops, another political comment - Karen, forgive me, I am having a tumultous afternoon and can't control my errant typing fingers - and maybe it wasn't even Grand Cayman in Grisham's "The Firm".) I must close before I am forever banned from LCT for inappropriate comments and general self-indulgence.
Cheers, Fred

Wes - As usual, you are a fount of great info and good diving-snorkeling wisdom. We look forward to meeing you and Ida on a cruise, on ROAR (not a diving trip, but lots of cool wild animals - some of which will actually not be part of our group) or some other adventure. Cheers, Fred

Freddie - go snorkeling at Stingray City on Grand Cayman. Fun thing to snorkel with stingrays slithering all around you. We went with a company called Nativeway, recommended on the CC boards. I think their website is: http://www.nativewaywatersports.com/ Masaki
