We just got a letter from Mark Conroy, asking us to take a survey about future travel in the South Pacific. I noticed that the letter was on Radisson letterhead and his title was from Radisson. With all this rebranding effort, why didn't he use new stationery?

We received the same letter and wondered why the letterhead and return envelope were still imprinted "Radisson."

We also received a very nice little promo piece/mini CD on the Baltics from RSSC. Couldn't view the CD, as it was too small for our computers to play.

I thought it was pretty tacky for a 1st class cruise line. A survey? of Three Questions? And why did they not note that we were just on the PG last?

My DH received the same letter/ survey. I noticed that the choices described in the letter do not coincide with the choices in the survey card( the number of nights is off). It doesn't look very professional.

Are they having trouble filling their PG cruises? I receive at least one e-mail a week touting PG cruises and also receive literature very frequently on those cruises. Compared to their other destinations I would say we get double the number of promotional material for the PG.

We were also on the PG somewhat recently. My husband and I thought that maybe they are trying to figure out the long term future of the PG with Radisson - now Regent,a nd looking for imput and the potential for repeaters. Who knows.

Yep. We got ours.
Did you notice that the survey was being sent to a different place from the address on Mark's letter?

I got that mailing this week too. I agree it was tacky. The letter said something like "since you recently sailed on the PG, we would like to know what kind of French Polynesia itinerary would appeal to you in the future" and sounded like a survey. Then on the response card it said something like "Please send me information on the following itinerary" with a few choices. Easy to see that it wasn't really a survey but a brochure/information request. It also struck me that if their database was really effective, they would already know that we are booked on the PG for December 06.

Yes, I immediately thought that it was nothing more than an opportunity to create a mailing list. Like I need more junk mail. And how do I know they wouldn't sell this list? Creating targeted databases and selling them is quite a big money-making gig -- why should I contribute my name to see someone profit off it?

I also thought that using the name Radisson was bizarre! If it hadn't had Mark Conroy's name on it, I might have thought that it was a project done by some rogue idiots in Marketing without full corporate approval. It brought to mind the recent RSSC employee who was posting on CC without corporate permission, thinking they were "helping". But with Conroy's name on it, wouldn't you think he'd have to know about it, and sanction it?

I added the box for the 17 day Cook, Austral, and Society Islands cruise and checked the box. I would really like to see them do some far reaching cruises.

What I think would also be nice for them to offer is a cruise centered on visiting WWII battle sites.

We also got the letter.....It went straight to the round file. This just is sloppy workmanship, and nobody to proof read what they are sending out.

I am with all of you here with your comments about this recent letter that we recieved yesterday. We are already booked for a PG 14 day cruise in Sept and are past PG pax. My first reaction was that it was a confusing letter and I questioned why it was sent esp. with Radisson stationary heading etc. It said survey and then presented three brochure requests. I think there must be some serious problems with the new management etc. to send such a letter at this time of transition from Radisson to Regent. What a waste of money as far as I am concerned that was a dead end promo of some sort! Guess who pays?????????????? :< !

Tika,

Welcome to Luxury Cruise Talk. This is a great place to vent your feelings about this stuff. Hope you will post often!

I got the Baltics mailer today with Radisson logos, et al. For at least two years they've talked about re-branding. How could their marketing department not plan ahead?

I worked in Banking during all the mergers and acquisitions during the 70's and 80's. We routinely went through and destroyed tons of collateral, regardless of cost, because we did not want the old names on the marketing pieces. And if we had some regulatory piece with the old name, we had stickers to at least put over the old name.

Welcome Tika!

I was irked by the mailing as well. I kept looking inside the envelope for the "survey". The statement that the reason for the mailing was to introduce me to the PG, which I've spent 14 nights on, really made me laugh at such a ridiculous mailing.

But it was signed by Mark Conroy! Isn't he Regent's President?

There are no new owners. Carlson still owns and operates Regent just as it does Radisson.

I think RSSC was doing some Spring cleaning and had an abundance of these pieces in storeage. Rather than toss it, they mailed it!

RSSC, you should have tossed it! We all did!

Has anyone received the Europe and the Baltic interactive CD yet? I received one in the mail yesterday but haven't watched it yet.

Actually, even though it's smaller, it's standard advertising CD. I threw mine away.

VDJ - Welcome to LCT!. I don't go on Voyager until June. You'll have to share with us your impressions of the ship!

We've been bombarded with RSSC collateral over the past few months! No more complaints about not receiving anything. It would be nice, however, if they switched their collateral from Radisson to Regent all ready.

I could not figure out how to play the little beast on my PC. It looks like a CD with two of the sides cut off, so that it is shaped like a burrito. It did not fit into either of my CD slots. Very weird, indeed. After a couple of tries, I threw the idiotic thing into the trash compactor and tossed a real burrito into the microwave for lunch. Far more satisfying...

Freddie, I never opened the cardboard package it came in. That's weird. I just tossed it up on the cutting board "catchall" and I'll run across it again in a year or two when I am forced to clean that off again.

I actually got a letter from "Radisson" from Mr. Conroy, that (in our case) was really funny, for more reasons than the "Radisson" title. In the letter, Mr. Conroy stated that he knew we had cruised "Radisson" several times, and now he wanted to introduce us to the PAUL GAUGUIN! What's funny about this is that close to half of our "Radisson" cruises have been on the PG! We may have more nights on her than Mr. Conroy does, and we certainly need no introduction to it. It did not contain a real "survey" but mere a post card wherein we could request additional info on four itineraries. Then, we also got that funny, square CD from "Radisson" on baltic cruises.

Thanks,
Richard

Sorry, Jim B. and all!

I didn't know we had PMs on this board until I saw I had one today. I think I've responded to all I had now.

Sorry,
Richard
