I just booked our hotel for 1 night at the Park Inn by Radisson Oslo Airport. Did I chose the correct hotel ? It seems that there's many Radisson hotels in Oslo !!

edit: answered my own question. I had the wrong hotel but Expedia let me cancel my non-cancellable reservation and change it to the correct one. Who would have guessed Oslo airport would have TWO Radisson hotels !

Hoping to use my Silverseas 500 night award for complimentary 14 day cruise on this voyage. Hope there are cabins available in Feb 2017!

If they don't David, put yourself on the waiting list. We did this for the Reykjavik to Churchill cruise that sold out immediately when it was announced and it cleared pretty far ahead of time.

I am waitlisted! Single Supplement is 200% but my "Bucket List" includes the Northern Lights and another cruise with George Gibbs, so well worth it!
Hope that I can join the Pooch party!

Looks like I may need a roommate. Andrea has a conflict and needs to bow out. I really don't think I can swing the single supplement.

Any takers?

Hi David. I have found a couple of possibilities but have not booked anything yet. I know Andi and Doug are interested also. Will you be staying overnight in Rekyavik? I will look for a tour that can accommodate as many of us as are overnighting and want to do this. Anybody else?

Lauri and I have moved over to the Nome to Nome cruise. Jerel's cousin is getting married in Florence a couple of weeks after this cruise, and now that I'm gainfully employed I wouldn't be able to do both. I'm sure you will all have a wonderful time, and we'll still get to see some of you in 2018!

Marc, please remove Kathy and Al from the roll call. We've opted for BEATLES instead. Thanks.

Got my approval today using my 500 day complimentary 14 day cruise certificate. Cost of Silver Privilege fare was $35100 but cost me $0! Cabin 411.
I've forgotten how to play Pooch!

I am a little concerned about my ability to handle entry and exit to the zodiacs.
I am also a lazy non-hiker. I may just stay on board to photograph from the open decks.
Going to miss "Pooch"!

David have you done a cruise before involving Zodiacs? We have not met so I don't know what your physical abilities are but really the Zodiacs are not that hard to get into and out of. The crew are really good at helping. Usually there are 2 crew at the bottom of the ramp to help you with the step on to the Zodiac and 2 in the zodiac to help you with the step in to the boat. My husband and I are by no means physically "fit" but neither of us has ever had a problem with this in 4 exbedition cruises.

I got an email from Iceland Air informing me that our connecting flight schedule changed so it caused an invalid connection time in Seattle. So we had to change from the 5:30 PM to the 5:00 PM departure from Reykjavik to Seattle. Odd, isn't it, that Iceland Air has two flights departing 30 minutes apart on the same route?

Marcie -We won't be on the flight with you and Tom --- unless you have to change yours too!

So who is staying on in Reykjavik? I am having trouble finding a northern lights tour, seems like we are there at the wrong time of year with pretty slim chance of seeing the lights. I am leaning toward booking a Golden Circle tour for our one full day. Anybody have any other ideas?

That sure is strange having 2 flights 30 minutes apart...we still leave at 5:30, at least I haven't heard otherwise.

Book the Golden Circle tour - it's very interesting. Northern lights sighting are generally Nov to Feb, but only on rare cloudless nights. You won't see them in summer because it's too light. Northern Norway or Finland in winter have better luck.

We'll need to figure out something to do with a 5:30 flight...haven't thought about it yet. We've been to Reykjavik before. Maybe the Hot Springs or ?? Is Silver Sea just planning to leave us at the airport all day ?

It's been awhile since I've chimed in on LCT. Alan and I were on this cruise this past August (2016). Scoresbysund is outstanding. I loved going to the Arctic Ice, wish we'd seen more polar bear (that's always the luck of the draw), had a great walrus encounter and thoroughly enjoyed the east coast of Greenland. Oh, those icebergs! We booked the land extension in Iceland. Unfortunately, the country is currently over touristed. Of course you should go on the Golden Circle tour if possible but be ready for hordes of tourists. Silversea offered great hikes and zodiac tours and we enjoyed the ship. Hope you guys have a wonderful time. Here's what I've written about the cruise so far: http://myitchytravelfeet.com/arctic-cruise/ Lots more to come.

Thanks, for the input, Donna! We did the Arctic from Churchill to Greenland and saw just a handful of polar bears so we are hopeful for more going in the opposite direction. We have not been to Iceland yet so if nothing else I can put a tick on my bucket list. And of course we will have fantastic travel companions on this trip. Hope to travel with you and Alan again in the future.

Hi Helen, You are traveling with a fun group. As far as polar bears, you just never know. The cruise prior to ours saw about 8, if my memory is correct. We saw 2 and both were far away. But it was all good. If you don't have time to do the entire Golden Circle, at least try to see Thingvellir National Park where the tectonic plates meet. And, of course, Gullfoss waterfall is spectacular. If you are short on time, skip the geyser area. If you've seen one spout, you've seen them all smiles. Hope to cruise with you again sometime. And I'm envious that you've been to Churchill. It's on my list.

Looks as though I may have to cancel- a wedding has popped up. Looking at alternatives: the Wind is going from Iceland to Tower Bridge one week later.

I rented a car once in Iceland, Marc, and I'm pretty conservative about driving. We drove to the Geysir, and off to some beautiful beautiful areas that were almost like a moonscape as I remember,

Marc we rented a car both times we went to Iceland. The first time for just a few days and the second time for over a week. We never got lost - the roads are very good condition and you will be there in the summer.
