Well we are onboard and have had two days at sea. Hurricane LINDA is messing with us so we had to miss Cabo and we will be on the edge of the storm with some big swells. HOpefully wont be too bad. The Captain made a video about the hurricane showing the path to the storm and it was really good. Communication it is so important and it was great to see him go this extra effort to show all the sattelite pictures to the guests.

Last nights dinner was superb... I started with Halibut then Lobster then a double order of lamb chops. Everything is was really good.

Been busy since we arrived had issues with the internet at first but things seem to be better now. Some card games, scrabble and visiting time is flying by.

BIG NEWS!! Believe it or not Ken forgot his camera! Unbelievable. We have all the "stuff" that goes with the camera. So he is limited to an iphone. Not sure he will survive the separation anxiety.

Be back later

VERY rocky last night and still so this morning, its almost impossible to walk around. Hopefully as the day goes on it will settle down.

So much fun so far, as Ngaire said, cards, trivia, games, and just visiting and enjoying time with great friends. Food has been plentiful, but for some reason I have very little appetite and once its in front of me, cannot eat much of it. Kathy was saying the same thing at dinner last night, everyone else was scarfing down their dinner and she and I were just picking at it, but what we did eat was good. LOL

We now will have five sea days before our next port. Sorry to miss Cabo, but we have been there several times.

More later.

I always enjoy a little rocking and rolling at night but still worry about the others. However, rocking and rolling during the day is inconvenient. As Joann said you have to be careful moving around.

Ken and I went to play cards and only Marcie was out and about so we blew if off for the day. Same with this afternoon. I think everyone is in their room watching movies.

We did go to lunch and found Kathy and Al in the dining room. No suffering here, the boys both ate big juicy burgers!

Not sure who will make it to trivia but we may have a chance with probably half the ship being out. Been doing really poorly!

Supposed to end this rocking at midnight tonight then back to regular sea conditions.

Ken without a camera! No way! Are you sure he isn't on life support?

The seas are soooooo much better today !

Last night we had a wonderful dinner with the GM Davor, Kathy & Al. It was great having just 5 at the table instead of the large tables where you can’t hear and you only end up talking to the person next to you. I was so happy that Davor doesn’t have any of his dinners at large tables anymore, I think the other officers are making the same changes as well. It was such a nice dinner.

The food has been excellent. Tonight we’re going to Prime 7 with Ngaire, Ken, Sue & Ray so looking forward to that.
Yesterday we had Texas Hold’em tournament. Unfortunately I was the “Bubble” coming in 3rd (prize money only to 1st and 2nd place). I hope to do better today. We had 7 players yesterday and I was the only female.
Our 4 man trivia team tied for 2nd yesterday, guess it took most passengers to be held up in their cabin for us to do so well. Ngaire, Ken, Al and I played Hearts this morning. Tom went to Dancing Class and learned the Cha-Cha while we played Hearts.
Sea Days are never a problem for me, I always find lots of ways to keep busy.

It’s nice to look outside and see sunny skies and quiet seas….ADIOS LINDA !!

Agree with Marcie, seas are sooooo much better today.

Frank spent most of the day flat on his back, a first in 46 years of cruising, he even took two of my pills. I was pretty much ok, but I did take one the night before and one first thing yesterday morning so I think I stayed ahead of it, but the rocking and rolling and such did get annoying.

Tonight Laura, Jack. Al, Joan and us are dining with Goran, the FB manager, and Annie the head housekeeper. Dreyfus's and we think we had dinner with them on PAGODA, so it should be fun.

Did some laundry this morning, then played some hearts up in Galilleo's before lunch. Block party tonight, always a fun time, then dinner.

Enjoying the sea days and just hanging out and relaxing.

More pictures are coming. Since Ken has no camera we are sending our iPhone pictures to the office to post. Now it is the weekend it may be Monday until they come out.

Today we did a mangrove cruise. It was hot but there was some breeze so it was fine. Did not see as much wildlife as we had hoped but it was high tide so that messed with things a bit.

Nice and calm since we left kinda behind.

Had a fantastic filet mignon in compass rose tonight totally perfect!

Just think how easy it would be to post photos if we had a LCT Facebook Group...

I understand it would be easier for posting photos but there are other issues involved. Why don't those of you that want to do that just set up your own face book page for this purpose without it being an LCT Facebook page and share photos that way. I think that is the best solution.

Ken, what about having our own photo storage at LCT like other sites have? It really would be nice to post pictures without having to host them somewhere else when you are on a cruise.

Karen that could be an option but we are not sure how that would work. Contact Ken after we get back and discuss this with him. I just do not want a face book page but if we can figure it out another way then I am open to that.

There are private groups of FB and secret groups of FB. It could be a private group.

Speaking very selfishly, I'm only an armchair traveler now, and would be so disappointed to not see reports and pix of y'all's fabulous trips! Don't do FB so hope you reconsider ! Feel a real connection to so many of you!

Thanks;

The key social media sites make it incredibly easy to post pictures so I understand the desire for a place that is easier to post pictures.. Of course you have to be a Facebook customer to view. Same with Pinterest you need the software to view the pictures.

Within the LCT family there are a lot of people who feel exactly the same way you do. LCT is public and easy to access and ken and I will definitely keep reporting and posting here. If we can find a solution to please everyone that will be the best. Maybe an option is out there that can be found. It just needs to be public and no additional software or membership to a social media site required. Not sure that is really an option now. Open to any solutions?

I am not sure exactly how it works but I think all we need is a storage for LCT to host pictures and then we wouldn't have to remotely link them to photobucket or wherever. I am sure Ken will know the answer!

I am always worried that Photobucket will close down one day, we would lose the majority of the pix we have posted here over the years. It would be so nice to have our own storage so all pictures posted from this point on would never be lost.

Ngaire, there is no additional software needed for the LCT member if we were to host our own photos. There is no special software needed for Facebook or Pinterest that I know of?

Rachel, not everyone uses Facebook so even a private FB page would exclude some of the LCTers. We just need to make it as easy to post pix here as it is there! thumbsup

I am not on Facebook either; therefore, I like Karen's suggestion; if feasible. We would have to show self control so that we don't eat up the server space that you might be able to provide for this.

In the meantime, keep the reports coming!!!

I thought I was about the last person on the planet who isn't on Facebook. Never have, never will. My tablet even autofilled when I typed in the letters F-A, so many people use it. Including my mom who is approaching 80! Anyway, I agree it would be great if LCT had a way to upload and store photos. Meanwhile, keep the seamail coming! Wish we were there.

When we get back we will look into the picture storage issue. See what we can do.

Will write up another report tomorrow. Ken got some pictures with the iPhone he is really missing his camera.

Karen you have to join Facebook to view and many do not want to do that. Pinterest I had to put the software or the app on my computer or devices to be able to post. So I think neither will be the answer. The storage of photos could be (probably not as easy as the social media site) an option. Marc is right though the storage cost would have too be investigated.

Hi Ken!

Do you have the Camera Awesome app on your iPhone? That's what I use to upload photos taken with my iPhone to my smugmug galleries. Since you have your laptop, you can then log into smugmug on it to get the embeddable links for LCT. Since I don't take my laptop on vacation, it's more challenging for me to get the links since I have to use my iPhone to get to smugmug.

Julie is looking into this. We will definitely look at this as it would be easier for ken too! However we will have to limit this To just sea mail or LCT get togethers. Plus limit the number of pictures posted per subscriber. This could really get out of hand without some sort of control criteria.

It shouldn't get too out of hand as long as we limit the size of the photos, too. People would still have to resize them before they uploaded them here but that is a common practice.

Finally I have about 10 minutes to update the cruise.

Ken and I have not been very active on the shore excursion and used our time to handle a bunch of things not completed before we left.

However I think we missed some good excursions. The auto safari in Guatemala was a huge success. Sounds like some auto drive parks in Africa. They had African animals. . Plus a tree full of macaws that flew all at one time along with a great guide

In Nicaragua some went to the Amaya hacienda. They loved it. Beautiful hacienda in gorgeous ground with a show and the opportunity to swim or. Paddle in the water. Plus a nice lunch. This was a free excursion and most with lunches have a charge

In puntarenas Costa Rica some did a train and mangrove cruise. The train was not so hot but they loved the cruise. Saw big alligator and monkeys.

Some hired a taxi and I wished I had done that as well. Along with the basic things those that did taxis all went to a park where there were a lot of very tame me white faced monkeys. Like the lemurs they ran down your arm and ate a piece of Bananna . Supposedly very light and you could barely feel them. I loved doing that with the lemurs wish I had known about this option.

We walked into town and visited a grocery store. Lots of English products rather than American products. There was a quaint old rock church with a tall steeple. Inside is was fairly modern a contrast to the exterior. Cream and brown in color it was very peaceful and delightful little church. Outside there were some interesting white sculptures. Ken took some pictures.

When we got back to the bridge that you walk to reach the ships we had two nice surprises. First was two men sculpting an alligator in the sand. It was was good and Ken took a picture with new camera " the iPhone " then a little train came along to take us down the bridge to the ship. We were hot and had walked a lot so that was most welcome.

Hopefully he will get some posted.

Sea day today, thankfully. Not felt too well this morning, upset stomach, decided to just lay low and hang out in the cabin. Am starting to feel better, and got some gingeralie, and our stewardess brought me some gator aide. Deterrmined to make Jack's birthday dinner this evening in Prime 7, may take it slow on the food, but I will be there.

We did the train and mangrove cruise yesterday, had a fantastic guide and enjoyed it. We saw a tree full of macaws, which at first looked like flowers and then all of a sudden they just took off all at once, it was really spectacular. Saw a huge crocodille, lots of birds.

Enjoying dinners, piano bar, stars, in the evenings. Holding our own at trivia, but not good enough to win. but its all fun.

We were among those doing the Amayo Hacienda the other day, and it was just wonderful. Lovelly people who own it and they were so hospitable, Great lunch, nice weather, I just enjoyed relaxing on the verandah, Frank walked down to the lake for awhile and waded in, their children are lovely and they have darling twin girls who are about 5 and are the spitting image of our youngest granddaughter Josie. Probably my favorite overall excursion so far.

Tomorrow id CANAL day, looking forward to an exciting day.

Hi Karen.

We are scheduled to go through Miraflores Locks between 8-9 am central time.

Pedro Miguel Locks 9:30-10 am.

Gatun Locks 2:45-4:45 pm.

PS: Internet access from the ship has not been that reliable. If it holds up I'm going to post on my Facebook page a cute video of Tom and Marcie and some monkeys in Puntarenas.

It's a public page but you may have to be a Facebook member to view it. For those who are not my Facebook friends you can just google "facebook Tom Giusto ABC News" and it should get you there.

Thanks Tom.
