SOME EXCITING NEWS FOR THOSE ON NILE 3: We have an opportunity to view Nefertari’s tomb on Nile 3.

Nefertari, the favorite queen of Rameses II, was buried about 3,200 years ago in the most exquisitely decorated tomb in Egypt's Valley of the Queens. Discovered in 1904 by Italian explorer Ernesto Schiaparelli.In 1986, the Ministry of Culture and the Egyptian Antiquities Organization in cooperation with Getty Conservation Institute began work to restore the tomb to its original glory. The work was executed utilizing the most modern technical and artistic internationally-adopted methods.

The tomb of Nefertari was opened for visitors in 1995, but closed again in 2003, due to concern for the preservation of the tomb. Sometimes special permits (with admissions from $3600 to $5000 per person) are issued for VIP’s specialists or people on specialized tours. Now they are allowing a few select tour companies to bring guests to the tombs. Ker & Downey are offering this option to us AT THEIR COST. This is something I have ALWAYS wanted to do.

Pricing is a group rate and a per head charge. How much this will cost depends on how many of us want to do it. More people, less per head, less people more per head.

EXAMPLE: With 12 people the cost will be $550 per person. May seem like a lot but a lot better than “thousands’ of dollars per person (If you were special)

I also want to let those know who are looking for airfare, there are some very good oneday fares in business class from Cairo to the U.S. on QatarnAirways. I got our tickets going with miles (using AA miles ) also on Qatar airways. Coming back, I priced the ticket on their website. It is ticketed in Egypt. In business class, it was $1200.00 per person from Cairo to tulsa using qatar airways Cairo to Doha, doha to DFW, then AA to tulsa. All in first and business. And you can accrue AA miles. Can't beat that with a stick.

Thanks for that great info Rachel, I just scored our outbound with miles and as soon as we get back from current trip to Disney, plan to book the return with Qatar.
