Cindy, great news! Trying to figure out whether you are "in", meaning you will be with us, or waiting for a cancellation! Would love to meet you and David "aboard"! If not, see you on FJORDS!

all, we have officially commited, sent it the forms etc. (I do EXACTLY what Ngaire tells me, dangerous but true), she has assured me we have a very good chance of clearing waitlist. Hermanus is the only sticky point I believe. If we clear, we are there!! We MAY opt for Singita in lieu of Leopard Hills. I know, Leopard Hills is fabulous, but I have heard so much about Singita......can we miss it???? Not sure yet, but with 2 years to wait....... Thanks for all the happy wishes, I wish it was closer, but Fjords will be a nice warm up!

Cindy, can't say I blame you for opting for Singita! Today it was named "Best Hotel in the World" on T&L's magazine's "World's Best" like it was the year we chose it. Not to worry, all who wanted to go last year cleared the waiting list. We are just going to reget every cancellation, and welcome every wait list person! You are SAFE with Ngaire! You already know that, I hope! Can't wait to meet you on FJORDS! Having been on that cruise in 2005 with my daughter, I can't wait to go back! One of the best cruises I have ever taken!

I have heard so much about that 05 cruise!! We met some wonderful people (now friends) on an early Voyager cruise. They are the artists that made the wonderful sculpture over the pool. Jan and Camilla are friends of Capt.Dag from his town When your ship arrived they went to the dock and were able to get aboard (i think??) They have told us so many times how much fun everyone had on that 2005 trip. They are exhibiting at a gallery in New York over Thanksgiving, and we are going to see them. When we arrive on the Fjords trip we plan to spend the day with them seeing the sights. I have never met more warm special people. I can hardly wait! I am so happy to hear it was as wonderful as we were told.

We won't be at Singita this time, but I have never stayed at anyplace that wonderful in my life. You won't be sorry with your decision. The only reason we did not opt back, is that it 1) wasn't an option at first 2)it was more expensive 3) we thought it would be fun to try someplace new. We hope to be able to meet you on this trip.

Yvonne and someone (definitely her Mom and maybe Guy) signed up for ROAR2 as well. They are really part of the group now, but don't LCT, so I am their "voice."

Thank you Marcie for keeping this current. Looks like Nagaire was able to expand the numbers that could go. Should be a great group. Continues to be difficult to wait, two years is a long way away.

It is such a long time away, but I agree with Marcie, gives us time to save up the dinero. I see the rand has been hovering around 7.35 - yippee! Of course it could (and probably will) change drastically between now and then!

We watched a truly WONDERFUL safari show on the Discovery Channel over the weekend - it took place quite a bit further north than where we will be, but really got us excited nonetheless. A cheetah climbed up and sat right on top of the Land Rover with the tourists & guide still in it! Apparently, the top of the Land Rover provided the perfect vantage point to seek out prey.

I sure am looking forward to meeting you all and experiencing the adventure of a lifetime!

We did sell out so I did expand the capacity for the game park portion. The key was getting Mateya rooms for the group that goes to Mateya as a second game park.

Then I added a new combination of Kings Camp first and then Mateya second. Some one could also do Lions Sands first and Mateya second.

This allowed for five more rooms. We have four rooms left now for either of the two combinations above. Absolutely no way it can grow past that number. I also added Debbie from my office and Cindy (my daughter) so there will always be someone along with each group at each camp to assist everyone.

Birkenhead has three rooms on the waitlist now but there is of course room in Cape Town as there is really not a capacity problem at the Radisson.

That is the update on capacity for ROAR 2. If anyone joins in I will add their names to Marcies list.

There are currently 56 names on the list. Anyone want to start a pool on how many of those 56 end up going? If ROAR was any indication, it will be most of them.

56 is a good number. That is three Federal Air Beech 1900 charter flights (with one seat to spare). Maybe they can pick us up at CPT and head straight to the parks. :) Or, if we grow anymore, we could probably charter a 737. :D

Arlene - I join you in welcoming our new ROARers to the trip!

However, South Africa will not be the same after all of us get through with it! :D :D

We'll show the newbies the *best* of enjoying South Africa.

Now all we need are tokens ... Conrad ... a camera .. :D

Hi Claudia! Many of the ROAR 2 folks love the Regent tokens, especially Marc.

Conrad was our model-gorgeous male tour guide in Capetown.

Cameras (what kind? how many memory cards? what zoom/pixel mix?) were a hot topic of discussion.

Hope that helps. Cheers, Anne

We are supposed to have the same guides for TUSK as we had for ROAR except do not need as many. I know Leo is not going to be there but Conrad not sure.

If Conrad is there I promise I will take his picture and post for all the ROAR 2 people to see.

Understand there is a Ranger at Leopard Hills worth a shot or two. Two groups of guests there recently have both commented so he must be something.

The lions are calling -- I am in DFW now waiting for my first flight. With the new restrictions in London if you have a flight through London they wont check you in if your ONE carry on does not meet the 6.3 in x 13.7 in x 17.7 in ---- do you realise how small that is, particularly the 6.3". Basically a lap top bag. Anyone seen how much camera equipment Ken has and I need my computer with my database to assist the office with questions, AND watch movies in coach on these long flights ----- this was a challenge!!!!! Squeezing computer, his camera, lenses (with BIG lens) and one set of safari clothes each into these bags. Then he comes out this morning --- can I take another camera? A resounding NO.

Woo wee! I think we should make a photo calendar of our ROAR rangers & interesting guides. I must admit, I tried so hard to get good shots of each of the rangers (trying to be oh so cool about it). Twas quite a delight & a "pleasure" to be around them.

Oh yum! Nick was pure eye candy, for sure!

I don't know how Ngaire and Ken crammed that much stuff into a tiny briefcase. At least, as they come back, it won't be as frantic.
