Welcome aboard, Marc! Where is the P&0 Aurora, is it near the Voyager? I am trying to stalk you.

Do you believe it? We were behind the P&O Aurora on the pier.

Overcast morning gave way to bright sunshine in the afternoon. We enjoyed a long walk and boarded around 3 pm. Gadzooks, it is great to sea everyone! The rain started in earnest during the muster drill. The sailaway (from our balcony) was delightful. We went out after the Veedendam and a Danish ferry boat.

Just unpacked and are getting ready for the Voyager Lounge meet and greet with the FJORDers. I'm typing this on wireless (thank you Marcie & Tom for getting this cabin squared away whilst on the World Cruise). Halleluiah!

Cheers, Anne

We're next door to Anne and Gary. Love the wireless internet! Sail-away on the pool deck was wet but fun as we met fellow LCT'ers. The introductions continued in Voyager lounge before dinner. Anne made sure we all got "lit-up" with battery operated lighthouse necklaces. All the other passengers are asking us what kind of group we belong to.

Dinner in Compass Rose was delicious. No partying for us tonight. Alan and I are resting up and re-charging our batteries for the rest of the cruise. We're thrilled to be sailing with a great group of LCT'ers.

Night all.

Logging on from our suite from the Voyager - the wireless is great! So wonderful to see everyone. This rainy cool weather is refreshing to us SoCal folks. We are heading towards the north. Early to bed, sun is setting now.

Good morning from the lovely Voyager!! It's 5:30 am and I've been awake since around 4. Waiting for the gym to open so I can get my workout taken care of and enjoy a wonderful day at sea.

Had a fabulous time yesterday seeing everyone - it was pretty funny walking up to a couple of people and having them not realize it was me - Joanna ;)

Today looks like it's going to be bright and sunny - I believe sunset is at 11:15 pm. Tonight is the Captain's Welcome Party - I'm looking forward to meeting the great Captain Dag!!

Hi Everyone...

We are having a wonderful time. Last night's get together was wonderful. It was nice to meet other LCTers whom we know "on board(s)" rather than on-board. So many new wonderful friends. The only thing wrong so far is that so many friends and fellow LCTers are not on board with us. :app:

The staff are all wonderful. I just met the new (to me) hotel director... what a nice, handsome fellow. It is fun being around Marcie and she knows EVERYONE on staff and they all love her.

Anyway... more later. We miss all of you who are not with us!

We are having a wonderful time meeting up with so many people I have "talked" to on these boards. I am providing stiff competition for the supply of cinnamon ice cream. Arlene and I had enjoyed quite the gabfest discussing our lives as ex-pat wives. We are sharing many of the same experiences despite living on other sides of the world. Today is a sea day and despite strong winds, the upper deck was wonderful for a brisk morning walk. Meanwhile, as I type Tom is finishing a LONG run.

More later after the morning trivia game.
Cheers, Pam

Near disaster averted...

Woke up Saturday morning at the Marriott to the TV mysteriously turning itself on. Hmmm... a couple of hours later the phone rang. I was expecting a call from the Sistahs with the game plan of the day, instead it was the front desk manager calling to tell me that my "lost passport had been recovered". What? Whose lost passport? Mine? I was sure there had been some mistake, but thanked her nonetheless and said I would pick up said recovered passport when I checked out.

I got up and walked over to my purse on the other bed. I unzipped it and looked inside and ACK! no passport!! Holy crapola! How in the heck?
I called the Sistahs to see if they had any information as I was utterly clueless. Obviously I had not been "kirful" enough the night before (or was it the opposite?). After some discussion it was decided that I must have dropped the passport in the elevator while I was rumaging around for my room key and that it had been turned in. Yeah, that must have been it.

When I asked for my passport at checkout the front desk manager appeared with it and said we were so happy to have recovered this for you! I asked where it was found and was told that a taxi driver had dropped it off at the hotel at about 7:30 am. I had left it in his cab the night before!!

Double ACK!!!

Thank God for his honesty (and for me being blissfully unaware as I would have been hysterical!) Can you imagine me arrivng at the ship with cruise passage voucher but discovering I had no passport?? It was Saturday, no embassy open, what would I have done??? My guardian angel was truly looking after me!

Last night I dined with Olivia, her Joanna, Cindy and David. Fun, fun dinner, but the staff now know I am not to be given Marzipan and alcohol at the same time. (Those of you who have seen my skill using it as modeling clay will understand what I am talking about...)

Speaking of alcohol, my daily program says it is time for "high noon cocktails". Alrighty then... cheer

it was fun meeting all the LCTers in the Voyager lounge last night. This will be a great cruise. Sea day today and the pool deck lunch had a Norwegian flavor with lots of types of fish - goes well with chardonnay. It's cool but sunny so being outside is enjoyable.

Living vicariously through all of your reports. Doug and I wish we were with the ex-ROARers enjoying you all. Suzanne, glad you found your passport. At least you weren't aware so you didn't have any angst until after the catastrophe was averted!! That's the way to do it.

It must have been the speed bandits while you were in the cab. So how did Tony's tour of CPH go? I was hoping for some news. wink

Boy, am I envious. It sounds like as great a group as TAP was. Suzanne, I am glad everything worked out on your passport. Olivia, I have a small gift for you, so I will send you another message. Andrea, I bet everyone was shocked at how great you look.
Have fun everyone. I will be anxiously awaiting more reports.

Lovely seeing everyone and we have had two fun nights in the Voyager lounge. Wonderful to meet people I have only known by phone and email as well. Might crash tonight no one can keep up with Suzanne.

Great dinner last night lobster and chateaubriand. First night Lamb of course.

In Geiranger Fjord now. Very foggy this morning but we took a van to the top of the mountain. It was so bright you need strong sunglasses. OF COURSE Ken and did not have them Ah DUH

We lost a bag too so we are about to try to find a few items before heading back for the last tender for the ship. So dashing off now.

Not sure when we will have internet again but will try to post at some point. Impressed the others have posted so quickly. Ken has some pictures but no time to download yet. All my paperwork was in the lost suitcase so we have been busily recreating things on board. Should be all set by tomorrow.

Be back later.

A sea day was just the ticket for getting on local time. Long slumber was the order of the day. We sported two trivia teams, one taking the silver and the other taking the bronze. Marc was victorious at winning croquet chaos, adding to his token collection. Pam did an admirable job of coaching me, but alas the ravages of time destroyed my croquet finesse. I managed a not-too-respectable second to last showing.

They had a Scandinavian lunch on deck yesterday. The crab legs were delicious, but it was, to say the least, blustery. Gary packed in duplicate bridge and table tennis before getting gussied up for formal night. The block party kicked off around 6 pm. That is such a great way to kick off the captain’s welcome evening. Marsha and George learned their luggage won’t be arriving today. Boo hiss! We are fortunate Tobias is back as head chef. Michele and Don joined us in Signatures. I swear the food was even better than usual. No prunes to be found hiding in chocolate on the bon bon tray.

We went to the show, “On A Classical Note”, a series of short interludes from Strauss, Mozart, Gershwin and Gilbert & Sullivan. Magnificent sets, costumes and skilled singers made for an enjoyable evening. We headed off to the Voyager Lounge to engage in lounge liveliness before hitting the pillow. I woke briefly at 4 and then heard the doorbell with our coffee at 6:45.

We are in the midst of a misty morning, getting glimpses of the land and waterfalls when the mist clears a little. The ambitious folks caught a tender at 7 am to make an overland hike to Gerainger, where the rest of us are getting off the ship for a short port visit.

Off we went on our taxi tour. The mist didn’t entirely lift, but the snow fields were as bright as Ngaire says. After lunch, Gary took on Terry & Anne as international tennis competitors. Can you picture playing paddle tennis with the backdrop of the Gerainger fjord? Only once in a lifetime, folks.

I split my time between stretch classes (groan) and watching our close up views of the waterfalls on the way out of the fjord. Magnificent! We enjoyed the cocktail party and then dinner with Captain Dag and LCT friends.

Tomorrow’s a sea day on the way to Spitzbergen. They tell us the sun will set again on July 2 (!) Good thing they’ve got the interim curtains to keep the cabins dark enough to sleep between now & then.

Cheers, Anne

Anne thanks for the Sea Mail - it sounds as if everyone is adjusting to the time and all are having a good time.

I think the prunes have been stuffed in the bon bons for us sailing BOREDZZZZZ - be glad you are missing out on them! All I can say is the prunes on our cruise are "silent but deadly".

A cold North Sea Good Morning!

Our day in Gerainger was a fantastic one. What a setting! We took the Herdal Farm excursion and as I heard a bus-mate say, "This one's a sleeper." The farm is in an isolated valley with mountains all around and quaint grass-roof cabins and huts. Have you ever tasted brown goat cheese? Surprisingly good!

Leaving port, Capt. Dag gave us a close-up view of Seven Sisters waterfall. He allowed passengers on the bow and we now have about 100 waterfall photos. It will take some time to sort them out before posting.

Brown and Keene cocktail party and dinner made a nice conclusion to the day. The sun barely sets now and we ended our day in the Observation Lounge viewing the midnight sun.

Here are more photos of the Block Party:
http://picasaweb.google.com/donnahull/NorwayFormalNight?authkey=78SE1Caacwo

That's all for now.
