Are Cyndi, Tom, Fred, Pat, Michele and Don, and CHATKAT (Kathy) and maybe Toto going to get together tomorrow? A great way to meet future cruisers! Wish I could be there on the left coast.

Yes, the events are Cyndi is coming to ChatKat. Frank, Gizmo and Daisy's house. We are then leaving (sans Giz and Toto) for early lunch with Michelle and Don. Chat will leave to retrieve Daisy and then return to lead the way to the theater. Frank will go home to be with Gizmo and await Fred and Pat who will be arriving from Camano Island by way of Burbank. We will have a pre-and post-theater supper back at the house before ChatKat, Fred, Pat and Frank (and of course Daisy) return to the theater for performance # 9 ( or # two if you are only counting the day) Phew!

Lorna Luft came backstage today to meet the principals. Daisy was her first principal to meet. (If you are going to perforrm for Judy Garland's family, you'd better be perfect and of course, she was - again!!!) We were honored by her presence. She is Judy Garland's younger daughter. She really enjoyed the show and Daisy in particular! Lorna is married to celebrated musician, Colin R. Freeman who is conducting the show - I didn't know that until I googled her and saw the link to the play on her website!

Of course, Daisy did it perfect! We wouldn't expect anything else! :)

Shhhh! She did NOT do it perfect tonight. She was tired. The day was a very memorable and special day. We loved meeting Don and Michelle and seeing our old friend Cyndi for lunch, heading off to the theater and then coming home to Pat and Fred, having a nice supper and then off to the theater AGAIN!

Daisy was right on this afternoon, but, decided she had enough of Dorothy singing Over the Rainbow to her and during the first act instead of following her, she walked right off stage to me. I hide from her, but, her mom radar was working. Poor baby, was SO tired and the prop girls were talking (a big no no)in the wings and off Daisy ran. We recovered by having someone in tennis shoes hand carrying her back stage (running is the real word) to the piece of scenery to Dorothy and it worked. Phew. Tomorrow is the final show and we are glad to get back to normal life!

What a great day we had meeting Kathy, Cyndi, and Daisy, the most talented little Toto and star of the show! (We arrived home to a power outage in our neighborhood....not able to log on until this morning....it was a hot night without air conditioning.)

After a fun gathering at lunch, Kathy took us backstage at the theatre with Daisy to meet the cast...tin man, scarecrow, cowardly lion, Dorothy, wicked witch, Glenda, etc. This was a real thrill! They are such talented & professional actors & actresses, dancers, & stage crew. And, seeing Daisy strutting around on stage, with her timing spot on, was so exciting. She really strutted her little stuff! The audience loved her. We were amazed at how comfortable and focused she was with lights flashing and pyrotechnics going off ....well done, Kathy! I melted when the lights came up with the last scene where Toto (Daisy) was sitting up in Dorothy's lap on her bed, with Dorothy saying, "There's no place like home, there's no place ...." Such a touching scene where Daisy was acting her heart out.....

We saw what hard work something like this takes. I'm not surprised to hear that Daisy was exhausted for the evening performance.

I would like to add one more little story that I think all of you will enjoy:

Don & I had seats right in front of Cyndi (this was not planned & quite a coincidence since the theatre holds 1800 seats) which made it great for us to be able to talk before the show & during intermission. Apparently, we had so much to talk about that the lady next to Cyndi leaned over and asked "Are you girls going to be able to stop talking when the show starts??" We laughed & apologized but she was nice & then thought that we hadn't seen each other in a long time & were trying to catch up....until she asked, "How long have you two known each other?" The look on her face when we said, "We just met today!" was beyond funny! Cyndi, then, spent the next 10 minutes explaining LCT, etc. etc. The lady is probably a lurker here now... - michele

After today, Daisy and Mom can take a well-deserved rest. Loved the story, Michele.

I just got home from the best weekend!! The Wizard of Oz production was incredible. The cast and costumes were amazing. The singing and performances were outstanding. Daisy was a fantastic Toto!! Kathy, I'm sorry she didn't do as well at the evening performance. But for the matinee she was in fine form!!! Everyone sitting around me in the audience were so impressed with her and loved it when it was her turn to perform. She was a huge hit!!! I could not believe how well she performed. Like she had been doing it all her life!! A true natural. On top of that, she is such a sweetheart. A truly special little dog. And her brother, Gizmo is a doll, too.

We had a wonderful lunch before the performance, with Kathy and Michele and Don. Thanks, guys!!! It was so much fun to chat and get to know each other. Didn't take long to feel like old friends.

It was also wonderful to get to spend some time after the matinee performance with Fred and Pat. Brought back all the warm & fuzzy good feelings of PIP!!! I'm sure they must have enjoyed the evening performance as much as I did the matinee.

After all that excitement, I spent the night and today with my Mom in Fullerton. So all in all, a superb weekend!!!

Kathy, a big thanks for all you did to make my day special!! I hope today went well and tomorrow you can finally have some time to yourself to just relax. You've earned it!!!!!!

Michele, you told the story about the woman asking if we were old friends very, very well!!! It was so funny. Michele had the best line for her - we are part of a travel club. But of course, the woman had to hear more. She got such a kick out of it. She told me she didn't even want to come to the play, but after it was over, she couldn't stop raving about it!!! She was duly impressed that our contact with the play was "Toto's Mom".

Oh Cyndi, it sounds like such fun!!! I'm so glad you got to go see it and report back to us! I think Kathy needs to get Daisy in commercials!

We missed you there. I bet your ears were burning as we were saying how special you are and wished you were there to share it with us.

Well, it's over. Just back from the Cast party. Met some lovely people. Saved the non profit theater $20,000 for not using the professional Toto. Helped a few members of some unknown families make memories. There are strangers out there who have photos of my dog with their kids and grandkids to remember a special time. There are some kids who were in awe of seeing a live dog that played a famous part and they got to touch her. There were crowds outside the stage door with people waiting to see my little dog. She made people laugh and smile and cry too.

I spent some wonderful time with some very special people that are my friends - that I met here on LCT. Thanks for letting me share the experience with you - whether you came and joined us or just read it here.

Kathy, I too loved reading about your adventure. It is really like being a stage mom. What stress! Kids and dogs can do the darndest things. I loved both stories, one that she was flawless, and the other that she ran off to find her mom! Keep us in touch with your future adventures with Daisy.

Kathy - congratulations on a fun and rewarding experience. How great that you and Daisy as volunteers saved the theater $20,000! I would have loved to have been there with the LCT group, but we were in Indiana over the weekend. Now to find the next challenge to keep Daisy's talents engaged...

We are glad you enjoyed sharing our experience. It was fun and I really appreciate having been able to share it here. I have to say I am completely exhausted. I could use about 5 seas days about now but a nap will have to do.

Daisy is going to be retired from live theater. To keep her entertained, we will have to find some other activity that doesn't require me to spend 12 hours a day in rehearsals and run my business as well. Now, we might entertain some TV or Movie work, but, we'd have to see about that too. Maybe a tricks class at the local PetSmart will be in order for the time being.

Kathy...if Daisy keeps running at the bottom of your posts she'll be exhausted sooner or later...so just stay in touch with all of us and let the rest of it take it's course!
