Has anyone heard about a problem aboard a Princess Cruise ship? Something about a couple having a problem in their cabin and the wife is missing. The person that asked me said they heard something on the radio. They also said it might have been a RCL ship.

I checked and didn't find anything about anyone missing from a cruise ship. But I did come across this interesting story. Tom.
INFORMATION: Passengers on board a Royal Caribbean cruise ship were returned to New Jersey Friday (7/29) morning. They thought they were heading for some fun in the Bermuda sun, but they instead ended up in Canada.
It was a rude awakening for passengers on board Royal Caribbean's "Voyager of the Seas" Some 47-hundred passengers and crew members aboard the world's second largest cruise ship were supposed to leave New Jersey last Sunday (7/24)for a five night Bermuda trip. But instead, they ended up under the cloudy, foggy skies of Canada.
Royal Caribbean re-routed the trip to Halifax, Nova Scotia because of Tropical Storm Franklin. Passengers weren't pleased. One couple planned to tie the knot in a romantic beach wedding in Bermuda. Royal Caribbean said it posted a notice on its website last Saturday (7/23). But many didn't find out about the change in plans until they showed up at the ship on Sunday. A spokesperson for Royal Caribbean reportedly says passengers will not be reimbursed for a difference in their fare.

Authorities Puzzled by Conn. Man's Disappearance Thursday, July 14, 2005 PHOTOS Click image to enlarge LINKS •FOX News CountryWatch: Turkey GREENWICH, Conn. — George Smith IV embarked on an idyllic honeymoon cruise of the Mediterranean last month with plans to start a family and someday take over his family's business in this wealthy New York suburb. But on July 5, the 26-year-old Smith vanished as the ship sailed between Greece and Turkey.
Divers and helicopters have turned up no sign of Smith, and a four-day search was suspended Saturday — just days after he and Jennifer Hagel were married at a waterfront resort in Rhode Island with nearly 150 guests in attendance.
"It was a glorious, gorgeous day," said the Rev. James Gibney, who officiated at the couple's wedding. "They're both sweet kids."
Smith and Hagel had been drinking heavily and gambling at the ship's casino before his disappearance, an official from the Kusadasi prosecutor's office in Turkey (search) told The Associated Press on Tuesday. Hagel woke up the next morning and went to the gym, not noticing anything was amiss, the official said.
Smith was reported missing after cleaners found blood stains in the cabin and alerted the ship's captain, he said.
The official said Hagel was released after being questioned by authorities and returned to Connecticut.

This story has been all over the news for the past month. Both families involved are not talking. It has been really strange. Last week-it was on Current Affair and then it has been on Fox and MSNBC in the evenings. The whole thing has gotten really weird. Last week they finally got to interview people that had a cabin beside that cabin. The grooms family is not saying a word nor the bride. Have been following it on the cc board. The press has wanted cruisers on that ship to contact them to get information. Jan

I agree Jan - and have read all the comments about families not cooperating - I would certainly know if Tony had not come back to cabin all night and would be frantic -

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry, but by demonstrating that all peoples cry, laugh, eat, worry, and die, it can introduce the idea that if we try and understand each other, we may even become friends ~~M. Angelou~~

Yep - it was on The Today show late last week, and then finally on the news!! But, interestingly, we were in Richmond last weekend (July 23) and saw this on the TV in the hotel lobby, but the sound wasn't on, and we were distracted by things going on around us -- kept watching for the story, and it finally was on the Today Show just this last Friday morning -- then on the NBC news that night!! Very strange - something else is going on here - like come on, the couple was seen in the Casino as late as 3AM drinking and all, and suddenly she wakes up the next morning and hubby isn't there and she doesn't think anything about it??????????? And the couple in the next room reports hearing loud noises and all around 3-4 AM - and lets think about this, by 3AM everything on the ship is closed down, at least that was our experiences on Royal Caribbean on several trips - there is nowhere to go and nothing going on!! And the bride goes home and then she and the family aren't talking??? I can't believe that the Turkish officials let her leave - again I say there is more here than meets the eye, so to speak.
Uhhuh! Whoops, guess I got on my soapbox just a little too much! Sorry guys. :D :D

Not to be jumping the gun or anything, but blood in the cabin? Cut himself shaving, maybe? Why would you marry a guy and then go murder him? Really strange.

Joanne, trust me....you're not the only one! Drink up! If I had a nickel for every time I'd posted after a glass of wine AND sambuca and then the next morning I wake up thinking OMG, what did I say!! Better run and edit.... but since we're on the "left" coast it's always too late for the rest of the LCT early birds and I'm stuck!

Marcie, so true. It's amazing how that glass of wine and/or sambuca allows such witty words to spring from our keyboards!

I don't think it's that strange that she woke up and went to the gym. If he was an early riser and she wasn't, she may have assumed that he was out having breakfast or already up at the gym and not concerned that he was out already.
Blood? Well, they didn't say how much, so it's very possible that a sleepy hungover person didn't notice it first thing in the morning.
It's also possible that they were both drugged by someone, so she wouldn't remember a scuffle.
What I don't understand is the neighbor who heard loud noises at 4:00AM and didn't call security.

CJ - good point, very good point! This is really a strange situation and sad. By the way CJ, are you new to the board? I don't get to the inroduction section very often, but this is the first time I've seen a post by you, so welcome to LCT and all its great info, fun and craziness! I think you will find lots of really great people on this board.
Well I often find myself posting while enjoying a little wine - like Marcie, I sometimes end up going back the next morning and re reading what I've posted, but in any case its too late and I'm stuck with it!
