OMG, Karen!!! That DID come on fast. Well, if the people of Houston are half as friendly as they are here in the DFW Metroplex, you are in for great things. We have lived here less than 2 months and it already feels like home to us. You are going to LOVE IT!!!!! Best wishes for the move, and keep us posted!

Arlene, maybe you and Marc would consider Houston when you decide where you are moving to next!! Do you have any idea of where you might move yet?

Best wishes with your new adventure. It is brave making a move so far away. We did it 30 years ago from Buffalo to Las Vegas. Best decision we ever made. 5 days driving with a 2 yr old and a 2 week old baby in an old station wagon. I hear Texan's are very friendly. Even our TA is in Dallas! Judy & John

LOL Claudia! I am not sure I can fit many pairs of boots in a suitcase!
We are leaving this morning, let's hope we have a smooth ride and the cat behaves!
I will be checking in each night, if I can figure out how to work my new laptop.

Karen, hope the cross-country drive is a safe and easy one. I'll miss those snowy Christmas pictures from your house, too. But, your going to love a warm weather climate. Take care.

Hi Karen,

Hope today's journey was uneventful; where are you stopping for the night? Can't quite picture your trip, but have't looked at a map either! Just know we are all thinking of you, Mark, and Ellie and wishing you the very best, Sweet Karen!!!

Karen....I was looking for a special item on the internet and discovered this link for a bakery in Houston:

http://www.3brothersbakery.com/index.php

You can "buy" some of our birthday cakes there!

Hope the trip is going smoothly - have fun along the way, (not that you EVER miss a chance LOL)

I reached out to Karen and am happy to report that they are all doing well. "The cat is being an angel," says Karen. They are currently in Mississippi and should be in Houston tomorrow afternoon.

Here we are from somewhere in Mississippi! Mark just came back from getting take out and he had to call me to ask what hotel we were in, lol
We have been eating take out all the way down as we don't want to leave the cat alone in the hotel room. She slept for 8 hours straight in the car today, which was appreciated by her cat wrangler (me!!)
We should be in Houston by 3pm tomorrow and we are subletting a condo until we find a house.
I will check in again tomorrow!

I can understand Mark's confusion after awhile those hotels all look the same - well they do to me and obviously Mark, too. Ellie has been so good that's wonderful. Glad you found condo for your base while you house hunt. Miss you

WOW you made it a long way to get to Mississippi in one day. Not me babe - couldn't, wouldn't do that many hours in a car.

Anyway glad your first day went well and you will be in your new city by tomorrow.

Keep in touch and good luck.

So I guess now you can change your LCT name to "yellow rose of Texas"???? That would fit you well, as you are truly a rose.

How are you amusing yourselves? Singing "99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall"??? ;)

Thanks for checking in, Karen! It's an adventure trekking cross country, especially with pets, I can attest! On our move from SoCal to DFW, we drove all the way from Phoenix to Odessa in one day (fools that we were), with five dogs, me in the SUV following Greg in the U-Haul with our other vehicle bouncing around on a trailer behind him, hitting New Mexico's 70-mph winds and rain. It's a miracle we made it!

I have to laugh, Betty, because that's EXACTLY what I was singing when I was in the middle of nowhere and the radio stations wouldn't come in anymore. I got down to 65 bottles and then apologized to the dogs for sounding like such a fool! LOL!!!

I can't wait to hear what you think of Houston, Karen - we'll have to drive down for a visit some weekend!!!

They were suppose to arrive this afternoon, but haven't heard a word yet. Will call in the morning. They have to be exhausted and Friday afternoon rush hour traffic isn't one of Houston's shining examples of welcome. Plus, the Freeway closest to their condo is closed for the weekend, so they will not be seeing us at our best this weekend either. It's still a great place to live!
If she hasn't checked in with LCT by late morning, I'll let you all know what I find out.

Kathy - some weeks I am positive that everyone goes to work on Monday morning and doesn't come home until Friday afternoon. Not that the other days are good, but those 2 times are the worst! Atlanta has to be the same. I'm happy to be retired. :app:

We just dropped off our friends from Phoenix at DFW after a FANTASTIC weekend together. All the way back from the airport I kept saying, I LOVE IT HERE! In fact, our friend Shannon is seriously thinking of moving to the area. (They came here to celebrate the finalization of their divorce - sounds very strange, but it works - they are best friends)...I honestly can't wait to explore more of this state. I really do love it. Karen, hope you and Mark are relaxing a bit after all the unpacking chores! Check in with us when you have the chance :)
