Since almost a third of the country was part of the big storm which hit use yesterday and is continuing to the east now, wondering how everyone is holding up. In Milwaukee, we got 18 inches. My sister said Chicago was worse.

We didn't get any of the big storm but we are supposed to get 2 to 3 inches here in Houston starting Thursday! :eek:

A bit north of NY up to CT, we had heavy, icy snow yesterday and everyone stayed home. I would say our snow totalled about 4 inches. However, the storm stopped in early afternoon and folks could get about. Woke this morning to a sheet of ice. It couldn't easily be broken. Don't see many cars out and about on side streets, but main roads ok I think, if you take it slowly. I just whimped out and stayed home.

Only a little snow, but and inch of ice, lots of wind and cold! Kids were ice skating on the street in front of my house. Now we have rolling blackouts due to huge power demands. I'm stuck home again today.

WOW seems Chicago, Boston, NY areas really got battered - stay warm and safe!

Wow is right...ice skating on the street. We didn't try that. We can't get up our driveway though -- on foot or car. It's raining now and our plow guy came and salted and sanded. Let's hope it does the trick. Thanks Joanna for your wishes. I am really concerned for our friends in Australia, who have it much worse. Lucky you in FLA!

So far, knock on wood, we are okay here. They scared the crap out of us on Monday, saying we were to get snow, sleet, then an inch of ice, then 2-4 inches of snow and more ice! :eek:
The warm air pushed a little further north than expected and we just got rain. :app:

It's 11 degrees in west Fort Worth with over an inch of ice on the roads --we can't even get out of our driveway. We're hoping we don't have any pipes freeze--we just aren't prepared for this kind of weather. But they did get the freeways cleared off so the Super Bowl players could get to media day in Arlington yesterday. And the poor ESPN guys broadcasting in downtown Fort Worth are freezing!

Time to hunker down with a wee dram of single malt Scotch to warm up! We have the A/C on here (not that I want to rub it it in).

I was feeling a little guilty here, too, as I turned the A/C on! It's 81 at our vacation rental in Kissimmee. I guess we left Fort Worth at the right time.

I just can't do that icky weather!!! I feel for y'all, though, as I spent the majority of my life in Northern Wisconsin! NO FUN

A friend of mine visiting in Milwaukee got
a flight out of there that had pilots on it who needed to go to Chicago. Airport was closed right behind them.
Then in Chicago he got the last flight to Denver before they closed that airport.
Then the shuttle flight from Denver to Miles City had engine problems and it was 2:00 am when he got here.

Sitting in the AC at DFW waiting for flight to FLL to board Navigator. You won't even believe what we have been through to get here. Tulsa airport has been shut down since Monday night. We were supposed to fly yesterday am as I always like to go in a day ahead. Flights were canceled and rebooked 4 times. Yesterday afternoon at 3, I found we had yet again been canceled and rebooked FOR FRIDAY. So unless we could get ourselves to DFW, we would miss the ship.

SO WE DROVE. It was really scary at times, even in my husband's big 4WD farm truck, but we made it. Stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn north of the airport last night, and waiting for our flight to FLL which is supposed to be on time.

I am ready for the ship!

lots of hype about that storm! - schools and programs and such cancelled before the "blizzard" even arrived - lots of wind but only about 10cm snow - - - - - WHAT blizzard?! -

A true blizzard in Oklahoma. We had 14" of snow at my house with 40mph winds, no visibility. That makes huge drifts. North of us was up to 20" of snow. Collapsed roofs on a casino, a marina and a church due to weight of snow.
But we made it to our cruise, thank heaven.

Came home to still huge snowdrifts. There is one on our front porch that is taller than me. But it should start melting soon!

Saturday and Sunday. Driving home from work Sunday this car did a 360 in front of me. The driver looked so surprised.

But it's lighter later every day.

And, except for driving, I love the winter. It was so serene walking the dog this evening. Crunch crunch of the feet, the trees white, the moon shaded by flurries. Lovely

Almost summer here :D 76* today but I know it won't last :rolleyes:

It's about 80 here and not a cloud in the sky but our CA people probably are looking forward to a freak snowfall, I know I would be!

Saturday morning and we have temperatures
