Since there has been so much discussion about the female cruise consultant on the Voyager recently I thought I would just pop in to say that she suddenly left the ship a few days ago and has just been replaced by a Daniel Mason. The captain said that she had to leave and I have heard no further explanation for her rather abrupt departure. They are also offering a ten day extension for the onboard booking discount because of the late change in cruise consultants. Anyway we are sailing from lovely Bordeaux to Honfleur today with smooth seas and still enjoying our cruise very much.

I think Daniel may have come over from Navigator; if so, he will work his fingers off trying to get what you need. He's smart, he knows the ships, and he's funny as heck when he gets a chance to breathe.

Daniel is wonderful. We met with him several times while on the Navigator in Feb. and he was always extremely helpful and personable. My husband said he could hear the two of us laughing all the way down the hall! He also did a presentation of upcoming trips on one of our sea days. Hopefully he'll still be on for FJORDS.

Enjoy the rest of your cruise Sue-

Kathy

Sundial, thanks for the update! I hope you enjoy Honfleur--we loved it, and Bordeaux.

Just another thumbs up for Daniel Mason. We met with him on the Navigator in March -- he helped us book our next cruise (even assisted us in picking a suite so that we would not have noise from above (we were under the pool area the last time on the Voyager). He is a great person and will be giving everyone terrific service!

I'll also give kudos to Daniel, he was on our Navigator cruise last week, and greatly assisted us in booking our next cruise. Helpful, friendly, approachable....and very visible around the ship. Sounds like just the tonic the Voyager needs right now.

Daniel sounds like an excellent cruise consultant.

RSSC may need to do a better job of training their CC's , but lets face it, the fact is that onboard bookings have become much more the norm, not just on RSSC, but many cruise lines and the job can get overwhelming, however, part/much of the job is working with passengers and helping them make the right decision, just like we Travel Agents do, and some passengers require more assistance than other's. Its hard to know how much time a particular client is going to need going in and many passengers don't have any idea of what they might like to do before sitting down with the Consultant. I think having brochures outside and readily available, an appointment sheet, and maybe forms that can just be filled out and left in a box for those who know exactly what they want would help to avoid situations where both passengers and the CC can become frustrated. If when going thru the forms left, if the CC has questions or wants to meet with the passenger for some reason, he/she can then contact and set up an appt, if not, the request could then just be processed and confirmation then sent to the passenger.

Follow up from Fjords on Cruise Consultant. Gudrun was our CC and she was extremely busy with walk in (after waiting in line) in the mornings and by appointment in the afternoons. There was an appointment book outside her door to fill in your name by an empty time. She also had preprinted sheets for those who knew what cruise they wanted to book - just fill it in and leave it with Reception (just as you do with B&K forms.) She was even available in port. It worked well and I hope other CCs on all the ships do the same.

Glad to hear that the Voyager is back in onboard booking business again. We were without a cruise consultant on the Navigator two weeks ago until the last 2 days. Daniel returned to the Navigator from the Voyager, coming back in Kusadasi. We met him on our Gold Shipboard Activity. He was just delightful.

Gudrun was great. Of course, I didn't turn in my form until 3 days before we were to debark, but she left me a message around 10:30 pm that night stating she had received it, and she should have confirmation for me by the next evening, which she did. I was very happy with the process since this was my first "real" onboard booking.

We looked forward to seeing Gudrun this week (she helped us 3 years ago), but she is NOT on the Voyager this week. The "current" Voyager Cruise Consultant is Brian O'Brien. I have given him our B&K booking information for our March 2008 cruise and look forward to hearing from him about an onboard booking discount.

They are always moving around, never know who you will see onboard until you actually get there!
