I know everyone goes on cruises, but where else do you go on vacation or what else do you do for fun???

We also go to the Caribbean or Hawaii... as well as some places in the mainside states like Denver and Vegas.

I would love to go to Europe, but seems like we will never make it there... :(

We go up to our cottage on the river, in the summer.

Sometimes we go to New York for a long weekend.

We used to go to Vermont, and stay at a nice inn, but that was before the cottage.

Used to go to Florida alot too, sometimes the Bahamas.

I would love to go somewhere warm in winter, but we don't manage much. Waiting for retirement, I guess.

Europe, several times, and I hope more times in future, although our last two trips have punctuated cruises.

Oh, and for fun, we go listen to live music, mostly local bands, mostly in bars. We have quite a circle of friends doing that.

Since we live in hot south Florida, we go to the Canadian Rockies and enjoy the cooler weather, especially in the winter when we enjoy X-country skiing and snow shoeing. We also enjoy travelling to Europe and are planning to, in 2007, conbine a trip to Italy with a cruise to the Greek Islands.

There are so many places in the world to see.

We go to New York to visit Tom's family and to Northern CA to visit daughter and SIL. We have also done quite a few land trips including quite a few countries in Europe and several in Asia. We've gone to Hawaii twice as well as Denver and Houston to visit family. We pop into Las Vegas several times a year if that counts. Mostly we seem to just cruise!

Since my usual vacation travel in the past 15 years has generally been 2 to 3 week driving trips with my parents when they were in their 70's & 80's, they were mostly to 2 main destinations.

(Although they both THOUGHT they would like to see different parts of Europe, by the time they were able to travel extensively, they were afraid to travel outside of the US or Canada, even with me along to help them.)

Westport, Washington for Salmon fishing, comgined with sightseeing along northern California and Oregon coasts while getting there. Had it been entirely up to my dad, we would have made this trip every year, lol.

Canada, mostly Alberta & British Columbia. (I never get tired of the Canadian Rockies. Probably made 1/2 dozen trips up there, including a trip w/o parents to go heli-hiking. Since I'll probably never see the Alps, these are the next best thing, LOL), altho I was able to talk them into trips to Nova Scotia, PEI, the Gaspe, & New Brunswick a couple of times.

All of the Western States with multiple trips to Utah, Colorado, Montana & Wyoming. Las Vegas, naturally (my dad's 2nd favorite place to go, lol)

Hawaii.

Alaska (the one & only cruise I was ever able to talk my mother into, my dad never wanted to cruise)

Various states to visit family. Since my sister & one of my brothers have each lived in about 10 different states (my other brother has never lived anywhere but Montana), I did get to see quite a few states.

Obviously not as well travelled as most of you. But, for the most part, I have seen a lot of the places I have been.

We generally go to Vermont to spend time with Pauls' family & son. Now that Paul finally has weekends off we have been taking short "getaway" type trips. We recently went to Laguna Beach and are planning this weekend at a charity event (food and wine tasting) in Ventura County. In July Pauls' son is coming out for a week so we will do the typical touristy type stuff LA has to offer - maybe an overnight on Catalina Island.

Since I just purchased a nice little trailer (soon to be christened "Beth's Beach Bungalow")on Ocracoke, NC, I think I will be spending a few days a month there. Can't wait until fall and all my reading time begins in full force.

So many places...so little time!! Lately, we've been aiming for the big flights to wonderful places (Shanghai, Hong Kong...)using ff miles to upgrade.... so that doesn't leave much time (or points!) for much else! But bottom line is that we love going ANYWHERE! Yup, just about anywhere!! Our favorites include most of Europe and I'm a huge fan of big cities. Jack loves country locations. OK, so life isn't perfect, but we're a perfect combination of great travel fantasies!

Leaving tomorrow for a business trip to Boston and next month a quick getaway to South Beach/Miami. That's it for now. Would love to do return trips to Brasil and India, but need time and points to make it happen. One day.

It's a bit strange, but after living in South Florida for 20 plus years, my blood has thined considerably and I shy away from cold trips anywhere. Have great fur coats and vivid memories of gorgeous snow topped mountains that shall remain in closets and my brain.

Our favorite trip is up the California Coast to Mendecino, Monterey, Carmel and Napa/Sonoma. Next spring, we're doing that and heading up to the Canadian border so we will see Oregon and Washington State - Maybe Idaho too. We haven't mapped it yet.

And we have a long weekend in mind for Washington DC - we just have to work it in.

We really like the Tauck Tours we've done - their Fall in New England and last year, their Classic Italy. Thinking to put a France intensive trip on the books with them.

Hawaii is a great between cruises place for us. We do continuing ed classes in Las Vegas every year or two.

My list is LONG and my time and money are finite (sigh). My bags are always ready to be packed.

Bonnie: I agree with you - anywhere is fun for us and we both like big cities - I struggle with the cold too - went to WY last November I hated the snow and freezing temps but loved people we visited - past couple of yrs we have done Sedona AZ, Chicago, Ireland (2 week land trip tons of fun but hated the driving), NYC a few times, LA and Santa Barbara, Walloon Lake in northern Michigan, Charleston/Savannah, and outer islands of Bahamas - nothing compares to our trips to Asia, Australia, Italy etc on Regent though with LCT friends -

Every year we like to take a couple ski trips and we also go hiking - either in the US or somewhere worldwide. Sometimes we take an organized hiking trip, other times we do it independently. We also go to at least one or two places on our "to do" list per year. I love spas and also cities (NY, Paris, London, etc.) and right now we are most interested in traveling in Asia (and now Africa!)

We love Corvara Italy, they host a world cup ski race in Dec, and a extremely popular marathon bike race in early July. It is our favorite ski resort (I grew up skiing most of California's resorts) and we love it for summer hiking. A great place to stay is http://www.sporthotel-panorama.com/

We love to go to Seabrook Island (near Charleston) SC. It's so beautiful and relaxing there. We usually make at least one trip to New York each year to see Steve's family and one trip to Arizona (Tucson) to see my sister. Thanksgiving is almost always spent on the beach in Playa del Carmen. Steve and I have done that almost every year since we were married. We figured we'd make one side of the family upset if we spent the holiday with the other side, so we decided "let's just go to Mexico!"

With children living in Eugene, Memphis and Roanoke plus parents living in Irvine and Atlanta, family obligations keep us flying and driving when we aren't cruising.

Alan and I also like driving trips (especially Western National Parks and Canadian Rockies).

Kiawah is my all-time favorite beach but I haven't been there in many years.

We took a Canadian Tauck tour and loved it and will probably do more. I have my eye on an Italian one.

Our jeep jamborees are a fun way to "land cruise" and so far we've been to Canyon de Chelly in AZ and Ouray, CO.

We've been to Hawaii twice - once to get married on Maui and once to recuperate from my son's wedding :) .

Since we live in warm weather, I have a yen to play in the snow. Would love to go snowmobiling (and maybe cross country skiing) in Yellowstone.

Alan has this dream to take delivery on a Porsche in Germany and drive the countryside.

Also want to do more European travel plus Africa, China, more South America, Galapagos, Antartica and Alaska (missing MUSH, boo, hiss). Oh, I can't forget - as many cruises as I can manage.

I might as well say I want to travel the world because then I would cover everything!

Oh yeh, I forgot about D.C. We have been there many times, since it's where David grew up. Had lots of nice times on the Delaware shore, and in southern Virginia as well. I will probably be going back down there in late July (the worst time to be in D.C., trust me!), to visit my brother and nephew, brother visiting from China where he lives, nephew studying medicine at Bethesda.

When we have the time to get away (not very often) we will head down to the southern outer banks. Paige and the boys are there now. I had to leave to go back to work.

I'm a native Washingtonian, and we both have family living in the Maryland area so we go up there occasionally. We love to go to NY and see Broadway shows and the Metropolitan Opera. We'll travel anywhere to see a sporting event (we have Redskin and Dolphin season tickets and used to have Baltimore Oriole, Washington Wizards, and Capitals tickets when we still lived there). People don't give up their Redskin tickets, ever! Until a couple of years ago, we had a great hobby. We would work as greens reporters (the people who sit at the green at a professional golf tournament and using a hand held computer, send back the scores and statistics) at a dozen or so tournaments during the year. We worked at the U.S. Opens (Men's, Seniors, and Womens); PGA Championships (Men's, Seniors, and Womens); and lots of individual tournaments all over the United States. Since it was generally 4-5 days a tournament and paying for our uniforms, hotel stay, flights, food, etc., we decided to save that time (and money) for our 3-4 cruises a year instead.

For our next three cruises, we are going to the Mediteranean; then Asia; then the Black Sea area.

After a honeymoon trip where my husband tried to teach me how to (snow) ski we have mostly traveled to islands in the Caribbean (at least 11 trips during a 30 year span).

We've been to Hawaii twice, Florida several times and Pennsylvania/New Jersey where I grew up many times. Also, the Outer Banks of North Carolina about 5 times. As you might guess, I love the ocean and my husband is willing to go along with me.

I finally made it back to some mountains when our son got married in Colorado in 1995 and liked it so much that we returned the following year. (Son & his family live near us in MI.)

We traveled to Israel in 1995 and are repeating that this year. We leave the end of August!

We love to travel, especially cruise on the Voyager, and will go any where, my bags can be packed in an hour!! We leave Tuesday for Asheville N.C. to visit my daughter and then we are off to Las Vegas the end of July to meet up with two of Alfreds sons who will be at the shoe show with their wives and children, fun fun fun. Italy seems to be calling me in September so we are trying to put a land trip together for Venice, Rome and a night or two in Paris on the way home. The air prices are insane so this trip is not booked yet.
We do travel to New York a few times a year to see family. We did a car trip to New England a few years ago and enjoyed it. L.A. and San Francisco are two cities we have enjoyed and want to return to. Europe and Asia are our favorite spots, Hong Kong and Rome in particular. But our all time best trips are on the Voyager and we will go where ever it takes us.
Living is South Florida has spoiled us and we drive to South Beach about once a week enjoying people watching and the many great restaurants.

We long to go back to Israel someday soon, we were there in 2001. What a wonderful trip.

We are going to visit out daugthter in Charleston,S.C. the 11 of July, then we are driving to Asheville, N.C. for a few days, on our way to visit some of my long lost cusins in Kentucky, we have actually found an old cemetary where several generations are buried. I have always liked exploring old cemetaries, so thought this might be something different(to see gravestones of family). With no cruises planned till next June, we wanted to do some kind of land trip.
Living in Az. ,we get to Las Vegas often, and San Deigo, Santa Fe, New Mexico might be in our plans for late Aug. :)

We tend to like the warm places--the Caribbean and Hawaii--we've been all over the Caribbean and to Hawaii six or eight times. Besides two or three cruises a year, we take a lot of trips to San Antionio and also do South Padre Island every few years. Lately, we've been spending more time in Norfolk since our littlest grandson is there. When he was in Boston, we spent some time there. We have a land trip planned to Tucson and Phoenix in September to check out that area. But like others, we'll go just about anywhere, anytime.

If Tony were retired and money not an issue we'd be happy to "GO" all the time - we love to travel - anywhere anytime!! Joanna

Hawaii (actually Maui) when we can, but its been like 10 years. New York now and then, but mostly beach trips with all the kids and grandkids, started out at Bald Head Island, but now at the Outer Banks in NC. Going to Atlantic City this weekend to take my Dad - he and my Mom use to go to Las Vegas, hmmm not much else. But if an opportunity comes along, then we go!!

we love to cruise because I love the big cities and my husband loves to nap!!Been to Alaska, Med, Baltics/Russia, Japan and China cruising. Land trips to Ireland twice, Hawaii, Cabo San Lucas. Every Christmas to NYC for family. I also love Napa. Short hops to Vegas. This is a really good year: land trip to Italy (already over sigh) off to London on June 10 and Norwegian cruise on SIlverSea in August with post trip to Scotland. Whew! Like most of you I am always packed and ready to go just about anywhere. Very envious of the ROARERS!

We are all darn lucky - I am amazed at some of our friends who have NO interest in traveling - not money or work issue just don't like it - as someone said we all march to different drummer - what makes life interesting - NO right NO wrong

Northern New Mexico is our little piece of heaven, so a few years ago we invested in a little vacation home there and go as often as possible. Otherwise, I'm open to just about anything. I want to criss-cross Europe, in particular -- more of France, Italy, oh and back to the Greek Isles and .... well, you get the idea! Joanna, you are right -- we are very lucky.

We are fortunate enough to have an adult daughter who lives in Durango, Colorado. Even though she is an attorney there, costs of condos there are so high that we decided to buy a 1/5 undivided interest in the condo she wanted. This did three good things. Daughter could then get a decent condo, we could have a pretty good investment, and we could feel free to stay there for a "Colorado vacation" any time we want!

We like to visit there several times per year. There are many activities nearby, including river rafting, hiking, and steam train riding. There are also National Parks and scenic areas very near. A great diversion from boring old Oklahoma, and inexpensive too!

We seldom plan summer vacations.
Enjoy being at home and going on to our deck in the evenings. Or trying to find time to golf.
Jan B's family does have a cabin at Red Lodge MT and sometimes we will take a long weekend and go there.
This year we have to go to a nephews wedding in Gearhart Resort OR in July. In the past we have always flown to OR and this time we are going to drive. Take 3 days to get there and 2 days to get home.We are trying to work it out to meet Suzanne, Gary, Anne, M'llen, & Jim in Northern CA in September. Hope we can do it.
Other than that Football is our life. We have Badlands Bowl June 10th thru June 17th then Signal Butte Gridiron Classic Sept 1st and 2nd.

Years ago we bought a Marriott timeshare. (I know, only suckers buy timeshares...) It has actually worked out pretty well for us! We've exchanged it every year for a nice vacation and the Marriott condo units are spacious, comfortable, and well-furnished. Most years we have exchanged into Hawaii, last two years to Aruba, and once we exchanged for a week in Scotland. Next year we're considering exchanging to Malaga and seeing what we can see of that part of Spain.

We have generally taken a "relaxing" vacation and a more intensive historical/cultural vacation each year. The relaxing vacations have been the Hawaii and Aruba trips. Our historical/cultural touring has taken us to Europe several times - our favorite was a fantastic 10 days we spent in Switzerland and Munich a few years ago. Also did a great trip around Germany which included Christmas markets - brrrr, cold but lots of fun. Went to Hong Kong a few years ago, where one of Grant's brothers lives.

We also try and fit in the occasional weekend trip - San Francisco, Lake Tahoe, Las Vegas, San Diego are all favorites. Grant is a huge auto racing fan so he takes in a few races each year, mainly Nascar. (We are going to Indianapolis for the Nascar race this August - well, not my first choice for a trip, but...)

In short we love traveling and experiencing new things. Our wish list is lengthy. If only we had more time and money!

Dena, we have many friends who have timeshares. I'm especially jealous of my friend who has a fractional timeshare in Hilton Head (they own 1/5). I've watched them parlay it into many great trips.

I think you will enjoy the trip to Malaga. When we were there on the Voyager, Alan and I both remakred that it's a place we would love to come back to and poke around.

I would love to go to the Christmas markets, too!

So little time and money to do it all. But, like Joanna said, we are all so lucky to travel as much as we do.

Good point, Donna and Joanna. Though I always want "more, more, more" - we are extremely fortunate to have been able to experience so much through our travels.

I sure agree with that! Many people we have known (mostly friends of my parents) would talk but never do, now they're up cruising around heaven.

We used to do a lot of travel with business groups; Mark would buy a lot of material from a distributor who would take us (and other customers) on a trip. Sometimes that would be two-four trips in a year. But there aren't as many now, and several of them we've handed off to Jason; the last one was just before ROAR and was on a dive island in Belize.

We have tried to take the kids and grandkids somewhere every couple of years; had one interruption when Sarah was too young, but now she's been to Disney World twice before the age of four.

We are into more quality than quantity these days; cruise/land tour, ROAR, that kind of stuff.

Our Alaskan cruise will only be my third and Tom's second as we are more air/land type vacationers.

We just returned last night from a week at a small lovely Inn in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. We have been to Jamaica so many times (our first trip was for our 19th anniversary 11 years ago) that we have lost count.

We also spend one week a year at a lovely villa on St. Croix, USVI.

We are definitely warm weather island type vacationers and we have been to so many lovely islands and resorts...we feel very fortunate and blessed!

Sue: We went to Jamaica 1985? Jamaica INN I think ?? Lovely place but dead in June - I really disliked J - the hawking, the unfriendly people, but again it was 20 yrs ago!!!! My least favorite vacation ...

We also went to Jamaica once in the late 70's. Like Joanna, it was my least favorite vacation. Our first night there as I was nearly crying I think I figured out one of the reasons why I felt so blue. I had gotten used to being on smaller Caribbean islands with views of other islands. I sure missed those views! Also, the constant bother of the vendors on the beach was a real downer. We did enjoy climbing Dunn's River Falls. That was back in the days when it was still pretty rustic.

The country of Jamaica as a whole has changed a lot since our first trip there. It isn't for everyone that is for sure, but then nothing is. :)

We stayed at Jamaica Inn this past week and loved it. We enjoy being in a quiet/peaceful setting and went with another couple we'd met two years ago while on a trip to Jamaica at another resort. For the smaller more intimate resorts summer is a slower time of the year.

Our suite was literally on the beach - we stepped off our verandah and we were in the sand and steps from the ocean. :)

No hawkers on the beach or folks trying to sell you "something to smoke" at this resort.

One day we hired a man with a small fishing boat to take us to a lovely waterfalls where we were treated to a natural jacuzzi soak admist the lush foliage and the sun was shining down on us while we were in the cool rushing water...it was truly a wonderful place to be.

We spent our honeymoon there in 1974 and have been back about 6 times. Once you get inside the property it is wonderful. The country has changed a lot over these 30 years, but I will always love the Jamaica Inn. Haven't been back since we spent our 25 anniversary there.
Joanna, if you were there in June or July, that is when they let there regular, long timer staff members have a month or 2 off - after the "in" season." We have gone in August & had many of the staff say they had just returned from their vacation. You might not have received their first class service.
I should add - to get there from the Montego Bay airport is like putting your life in God's hands - but once there, never leave the property & it is heaven. I wish it weren't like this now, but unfortunately it is.
