I was just trying to book some free excursions in St. Petersburg online. Has anyone else noticed that when you have multiple days in a port, that excursions are available only on certain days and certain times? I guess my problem is that I have been there so much, all the excursions I was thinking of doing again were all overlapping in their times, and not offered any other time.

Hi Lynn. We are on the July 10 Baltic sailing (combined it with the June 26 CAPTAINS cruise). I went online April 10 to sign up for shore excursions, and I also noticed that most of the excursions were only offered one time during the entire three days we are in St Petersburg. This is our first trip there, so repeat is not an issue for us, but we really would have liked to have had more choices for excursion times (two I was interest are only in the afternoons, and we really prefer mornings - oh well!). The other issue for me is that when I signed up, the excursions for our cruise dates were NOT free; however, this week, they changed, and most are now being offered for free. Unfortunately, my AE card has already been charged, and now we have to figure out how to get credit back for what I already shelled out!

Cindy, I hope you have luck with AE. It is I
MHO the most beautiful city in the worls. I hope you enjoy your excursions. They really have cut down on the number overall.

For our three days in St Petersburg, We have one excursion (8.5 hours) booked for the first day, three excrusions for the second day, and two excursions on the third. We did have to alter our Peterhof excursion in order to fit in a second excursion on the second day. We still may add ballet or concert on the first day.

We sure will be :D

But, hopefully, we will have had a chance to experience a lot of St Petersburg. This comes towards the end of a week on Navigator followed by a week on Voyager with no sea days.

Agree with Oliva Marc - you and Arlene are going to be two tired puppies at the end of those three days. Good luck - hope you recover in time for your next cruise adventure!!!  Not to mention TUT! I need a nap just reading about your excursions.

Wish I had your energy, Marc and Arlene. No way could I handle that many excursions in one day, especially after a cruise with no sea days. Wow, I'm a geezer compared to the two of you.

I'm with Donna and JoAnn, if a cruise doesn't have sea days now, I make them! There are some rather relaxing ports in Greece, though, but I'm sure you will have them packed full of activity as well!

Oh, we will definitely make some into sea days or semi-sea days. I think in Mykonos all I might do is find a cafe for some good greek wine (retsina) and lamb finished it off with ouzo. :)

Still, you never know if you will ever get back to these places.

Yep Dianne, sounds like a plan to me. That is exactly what we plan to do on TUT in Mykonos, just wander around and find one of those really neat cafe's we saw up near the windmill and just sit and sit and eat and eat along with some nice wine and then stagger back to the shuttle/ship and take a nice long nap!! A whole year and a half to just think about that. cheer cheer cheer

Marc,
you certainly have a good start if you have never been to St. Peterburg. But there will still be a lot to see. Enjoy it with all your heart...it is a wonderful place.
