Whoo-hoo, we'll be sailing with the rest of the gang on FJORDS. Sometimes the wait between cruises seems endless! So glad our wait is almost over.

Thanks, all. I've been kind of quiet this year, I know, mostly because I just got out of the hospital having had pneumonia and before that had a squamus (sp) removed from my arm which required an incision of 5". Clyde stays well, however, which says a lot for those genes he inherited!I've been following along Marcie's delightful commentary aboard the WC and still say she is the perfect person to go on a world cruise! She enjoys every moment and never seems bored or cranky. Whatta gal!

Will just miss Beth as we embark in Piraeus on June 23rd.
June 23rd Piraeus (Athens)
June 24th Kusadasi (Ephesus)
June 25th At Sea (Yeah!)
June 26th Naxos (Taormina, Sicily)
June 27th Sorrento
June 28th Rome (Civitavecchia)
June 29th Monte Carlo (debark)
All on the Navigator, which is the first RSSC ship we ever sailed on and started us on this cruising habit, which we had given up!
After we leave in Monte Carlo, we are going to the airport in Nice and flying to London and driving to the Cotswolds to spend 5 days before going home. Hopefully everybody at home will stay healthy and alive this time!
Love, Elena cheer

Hi Elena,

Sorry to miss you, but know you will enjoy your cruise, too. We have 3 parts of sea days, but no whole ones. Your time in the Cotswolds sound like a good way to unwind and relax after a port intensive cruise.

Enjoy!

Elena! Question for you - we are doing the same itinerary on the Navigator leaving May 26, but I noticed you didn't list Santorini as a stop. RSSC's website shows your itinerary identical to ours, disembarking in Monte Carlo on June 30 (but you are stating the 29th). I am paranoid now...did they make a change to eliminate Santorini? What with that cruise ship sinking recently, I am wondering if they are thinking twice about going to Santorini...?

Just wondering...

Kristin, You have me wondering now, too. The Regent website does still list Santorini as a stop. Here is a link to an article about an oil spill threat due to the Sea Diamond. I'm sure there will be some more problems due to the sinking. Sad.

Thanks for the link to the article, Beth - yes, it is very sad and tragic what happened.

We'll be on the Navigator June 2nd - Monaco to Rome. Wendy and I are actually taking our husbands (Larry and Mike) on this cruise (isn't that kind of us?). Mind you, my hubby Mike is still up in the air, he's battling post surgical DVT, and his physicians aren't thrilled with the thought of him being out of the country for 12 days (we're pre-cruising 5 nights in Toscana). I've had to set up blood tests all along the way for him, to send via email to our doctor, who will alter his dose of Warfarin accordingly. Poor love, 5 nights in Toscana AND an all inclusive cruise, and he can't drink, or eat to excess!

Still, we'll have fun. And in Toscana, we'll have a designated driver!

We can't wait to get back on The Navigator. Is anybody else on this cruise? From LCT I mean, I think there may be other passengers - LOL.

Charlene

We will be on the Nautica cruise on June 20th as well. My husband and I will be cruising with our teenage daughters ages 18 and 15. This is kind of a graduation trip for my oldest daughter who will be leaving for college in the fall. We have not been to either Turkey or Greece so we are very excited about the itinerary. We are flying into Istanbul on the 19th and spending two additional nights in Athens at the end of the cruise. I have been so busy with business travel since the beginning of the year I am just catching by breath and getting excited about this trip. Have you traveled to this area before?

Steph

Hi Steph!

No, I have not, but my husband did a Greece to Spain cruise about 15 years ago with his then 15 year old daughter.

I've run into a few people on this over at Cruise Critic who are doing this cruise but we haven't made any plans yet.

We won this cruise, paid for an upgrade to Penthouse so it would be comparable to a Regent cruise and then some since we also have the butler we don't know what to do with.

I am very excited too - we're going in one day early - LAX to Frankfurt to Istanbul and staying at the Hilton through Oceania but we are going home at the end of the cruise.

We've been busy with Tax Season so we've barely done any research etc. We booked the Discovery Package of Shore Excursions with O.

I saw some photos of the Grand Bazaar yesterday and I am priming Frank for some major shopping...

Have fun Kathy - wish we could cruise with you, but its just not in the cards this year with CROSS. I'm sure you will enjoy O, and don't worry about what you will do with the Butler, he will tell you what he does.

Well a Penthouse Suite sounds fantantic. We are are in a balcony cabin on the concierge level and our girls are in a window cabin the floor below. Our only crusing experiences with Regent have been on the Paul Gaugin (2 times) and the Diamond so the difference in the size of the staterooms shouldn't be too dramatic. We have read very good things about the quality of food compared to Regent but will miss the included drinks. Well we won't actually "miss" the drinks we will just be paying for them.

We could have been in an inside stateroom (yeah, sure - I'm spoiled now!) for what this one cost and happy just to go to Istanbul and Greece. So I guess I can sign chits for soda and bottled water and be happy to be at sea! If you've only sailed on RSSC on those little ships, Nautica will seem huge! I never had the opportunity to be on the Diamond, but, a repeat of the Paul Gauguin is somehow been sneaking it's way into my thoughts for a shorter cruise before it disappears. The Tahitian Princess is leaving Tahiti now whole seasons to Alaska - so I hope the PG doesn't end it's tenure too.

I would love to do the PG a third, even 4th or 5th time. It is such a great trip. We got certified for diving before our trip last October and had such a great time diving that I would love to go again. While we love Regent but we have also been on bigger mainline ships. We did a transatlantic on the QE2 about 15 years ago, an RCL cruise in Europe and 2 Princess cruises. We have been too spoiled by Regent to consider another big ship. Oceania seems like good middle ground. Certainly less expensive (our cruise was 2-for 1 with free air, although we just took the air credit) and we think that they have great itineraries.

There is something special about the first cruise on a cruise line and you picked one of my favorite itineraries! I can't wait to hear your opinion :)
