Regent has announced released details of its World Cruise for 2010 on the Voyager. Details were contained in a mailing to 2009 WC guests, since they have booking priority until Dec 31. However, details have appeared in an agency advertisement on the internet, so I guess it’s OK to share.
Voyager will depart from San Diego on Jan 14, 2010, visit 51 ports in 31 countries on a 119-day cruise, arriving back in Ft. Lauderdale on May 12.
Interesting changes:
ï® This will be the only RSSC world cruise in 2010.
ï® Itinerary includes numerous new ports. Adds new ports in the South Pacific, crosses the northern coast of Australia and when returning from China crosses Indian Ocean and rounds the Cape of Good Hope and follows the west coast of Africa before heading back to the Caribbean and Florida. (No Med or Middle East)
ï® Full cruise guests will receive new benefit of unlimited shore excursions.
I know that this routing was being mapped out last spring. Therefore I don’t think inferences should be drawn that the current pirate situation off Somalia is the driver to skip the Red Sea/Suez Canal/Med route back to the U.S. Rather, I believe it was more a factor of offering a varied itinerary to RSSC passengers who are interested in long voyages, as well as to those who want to visit different ports on its various segments.
