Hi just stumbled onto this site - my husband and I are thinking of the going on the PG July 22 cruise to Tahiti. We aren't really into water sports but love to relax and see beautiful sights. This would be our third cruise (Alaska Norwegian Line) and the Riviera (Wind Star) We are from NY so it is a long flight...we are thinking of combining it with the Aukland and Sydney tour. Any advice?? Anyone else thinking about it??? I have been reading some of the posts and it has been very informative.

Hi Barbara and welcome to the board! You will love the PG, it is such a unique cruise. You don't have to worry about not enjoying water sports, there are plenty of beautiful sights to keep you busy!

I can't comment on the Sydney tour but I bet someone else will put in their 2 cents!

Welcome Barbara to LCT! Karen - maybe we should move this to the Radisson board? Not everybody reads the Introductions section ...

Will do! I never notice what forum I am in anymore as I check the board using the today's active topics feature. :)

Barbara, welcome to LCT. In addition to reading the current threads about the Paul Gauguin you can have access to lots more information by selecting the Brown & Keene Cruises Main page at the top of this screen, then select Regent, then select the Paul Gauguin. There is a spot that says "click here for full details". Select that and you will find scads of information there. One the options at that stage is passenger reviews. This should give you quite a bit a reading!

Thank you everyone. We went to the travel agent this morning and now we are considering the July 12th 10 day cruise on the PG. The ship docks at 7:30 PM-will we make a 10PM flight home? Do you think we can get off the ship a day ealier in Moorea and fly to Papeete (10 min. flight) Is this a good idea?
Arlene we live in Rockland County. Where are you?
Thanks Kathy that site was great!

Ngaire Keene could answer the question as to whether you could make that flight. It seems tight to me. The ship docks shortly after the people staying at hotels have been bused over to the airport for the 10:00 pm flight.

I think some people have gotten off at Moorea but you miss out on a wonderful show "O Tahiti E" that is performed the last night on the ship. Of course my husband is retired so we did not have to worry about getting home and back to work right away.

Barbara--you may not know this, but if you book the air through RSSC, and it's a good deal (I checked before booking), they put you up in in a room in a great hotel on their dime the next day until your evening flight leaves. It's well worth it and seems a nice way to end the cruise. Otherwise, you're taking a 9 day cruise, really, not a ten dayer.

It is my understanding that the flight through RSSC is coach and since we are coming from NY it is a very long flight and we felt that Business Class would be better. Does RSSC offer that? Also we couldn't seem to get a flight on the last night on our own. Again thank you all so much.

Barbara, there is business class offered through Regent's (I need to start getting used to that!) air program. The following info is taken from the RSSC site.

Tahiti - Non-stop airfare specials from New York in 2006!

Special non-stop roundtrip air from JFK ONLY to Tahiti in 2006!

Sailing from Papeete, the capital of Tahiti, we discover an artist's palette of lush greens, blushing reds and vibrant blues reflected everywhere in the emerald landscapes, and mirrored in the eyes of the open-hearted Polynesians. Options abound aboard and ashore. We are offering a new air promotion for non-stop roundtrip air from New York, JFK International Airport only. On March - November 2006 voyages.*

Roundtrip air from JFK to Papeete! Departure Dates

Applies to Paul Gauguin voyages from
March - November 2006 (excluding 6/10 & 6/21; 7/01; 8/12; 12/02, 12/13, 12/20, 12/29, 2006)

Thanks....we wanted to book the July 22 trip but found out that there are no C Class (balcony) cabins available at this time. We are on a wait list. Do you think that this will come through for us? I guess that you really have to book far in advance for these trips.

Don't know about your chances of a C Class cabin, Barbara. But, we've learned the hard way (on other Regent cruises, not PG). The early you can book the better.
