Karen, I thought the raft excursion on FUN 1 was a hoot. I would do it again. I might not be able to talk Carol into it but I bet I can talk Mark into it. We will just have to see what kind of adventure we can do.

Ralph, look at the description for the Raiders of the Lost Mayan Caves tour in Belize. I am pretty sure I could break something on this one!

Upon arrival, you will receive your safety briefing, helmet, harness, gloves, and headlamp from your guide before commencing your hike through the dense jungle in search of the Dragon's Mouth, the ceremonial entrance into the Mayan underworld. Your guide will then lead you through a maze of multi-chambered caves filled with magnificent formations, geological wonders and Mayan ceremonial history. Along the way, you will crawl through small openings that reveal hollowed ceremonial chambers displaying Mayan artifacts used in their ancient rituals centuries ago.

Next, you will connect your safety line and explore the upper layers of your subterranean abyss before rappelling 20 feet down a rock face. Upon landing, you will re-enter the cave and continue your quest. You will climb over rocks, trek through underground waterholes (during rainy season) and navigate narrow passages. A 300-foot traverse, or zip-line, will then take you from the exit of a cave filled with protruding stalactites and stalagmites over the jungle floor. From here, you will navigate your way through a network of pillars on swinging rope bridges, then propel out of the mouth of the cave on an inclined traverse, and down to a jungle trail.

I would do this but do not want to get my feet wet.

I am also not sure I could wiggle my form thru the narrow passages. I will let you and Mark tell us all about it over dinner that night.

Actually it does sound like fun but I can get a bit claustafobic. (sp). So I would be a little leery.

Ralph, there is no way I would do this excursion, the humidity in the cave would make my hair frizz and then there is that other thing.... no way anyone is going to propel me out of the mouth of a cave!
(Even though, that IS what they did on Indiana Jones!) [Linked Image]

I did see several other fun sounding excursions, atv jungle rides etc. that sound a little safer.

The excursion where you "propel out of the mouth of the cave" is cracking Alice up!!! She was in tears from laughing by the time she finished reading about it on the Regent website!! Of course she ABSOLUTELY HAS to do it!!!!!! Yeh yeh, I'll do it too.

Soooooooo, we have 619 on hold. Looks like some good ports for diving, and if those dives don't interfer with being able to fly to Tikal, we'll be thrilled for the chance to get to those gorgeous dive sites again.

Thanks to Karen for the heads up on this cruise.

Kristin... are you looking at this???? There might be a "hell-hike" in the making you and Greg could join us on????? LOL!

YEE-HAWWWWW!!!! Alice is at the dentist now, but she will LOVE seeing this when she gets back.

We can't wait!!!! Such a long time away and it's right in the middle of ski season! It typically would be very scary for me to think about giving up that much time in winter. But we are so exited about this cruise!

Karen! That hat better have a chin strap on it!!!

Kim & Alice - glad you'll be joining us! We didn't get enough time to chat at Ho Down - although I'm sure we could get together in Boston too. Hope you're staying warm!

Why, what a great idea, Betty & Joanna. I'll make sure not to let anyone else polish them but Don - he always rolls his eyes when I get them out, knowing he's in for an "interesting" time. Now FUN2 can't come soon enough!

Thanks Andrea, Anne and Michele! What an awesome group!!! We are very excited about it.

Andrea- we managed to stay warm even up at Sunday River this weekend. Very chilly, though! We agree that not enough time with you at HO Down!

Anne - that's funny about the Sopranos! But I'm hoping she doesn't try that strategy for M.W.!

woke up this morning .. got my self a gun .. momma said you were the chosen won.

Burned out on Tony, Carmella and the psychiatrist. Back to 'sex in the city' reruns.

Michele - have the spike heels from our tango run with us. doing a number on my feet, but they are HOT. Had our chef twirl me round the dance floor last night. It's likely we'll have competition for who wants the microphone at karaoke tonight. I will NOT be doing a reprise of 'what's become of the broken hearted' this time around.

Cheers, Anne

Ralph and Carol,
I was just reading this post, and I have been in Cabin 601...it is fabulous! It really is a suite! I would only go on the Navigator if I could get that cabin again. The only downside is being ride next to the anchor. there is a lot of noise when they are preparing the anchor, then about an hour later, when the drop anchor.
If you want to see any pictures, I took lots of the cabin and would be happy to email them to you. You will love it.

I booked the Sheraton Fort Lauderdale Beach hotel today for $45 and 2800 Starwood points. We stayed there last cruise out of FLL and loved it. It's the old Yankee something or other but it's been updated. The room was great, nice and big and clean and we had a great ocean view last time. I also liked the bar, it was sort of an oceany cave :)

Thanks, Karen, for "leading" me to this thread. I am so delighted that we will have company on the 17th Jan '11 Navigator...we (Ken and I, Gerry) will be in 918.

Not sure how many excursions we will sign up for. I think we are more interested in lazing around the ship!!

I talked Carol and Ralph into going on the lazy river rafting trip. Well, they moved the rafting route during the year since I had last done the excursion as too many people had complained that it was too sedate. I didn't know that and we went white water rafting, NOTHING lazy about it!

I was scared for my life so I just curled up into a ball in my raft to avoid banging off of the big boulders. I looked back at one point and I saw a person cartwheeling head over heals through the air. It was poor Carol! Her poor hands were all banged up and bloody!

To add insult to injury, Ngaire's little grandson was on the trip with us and he did just fine!

Ralph, I think if I am willing to be flung from a cave mouth, you should come too! I am hoping there are scaredy cat outs like there was in Alaska where they wanted me to make a leap of faith off of a cliff. I opted to walk back down the mountain :)

No Andrea, it's this one:
Raiders of the lost Mayan Cave tour
