With Radisson Diamond on her way out, and Paul Gauguin possibly having only two more years flying the RSSC colours, do you think a name change is imminent? The names of the three remaining ships all start "M/S Seven Seas." Do you think the "R" may be dropped soon and we return to Seven Seas Cruises?

A couple of other minor points. It was getting somewhat irritating that the CD on Voyager kept referring to the ship as the "SS Seven Seas Voyager." Although I have never been below Deck 3, I am sure that there is not a steam plant on board. The correct designation is "M/S" for "Motor Ship."

Second, Ngaire, you need to update your logo for RSSC on your site. It should be little "Radisson" on one line and bigger "Seven Seas Cruises" on the second line.

Ok, none of this matters in the larger scheme of things, but I just wanted to pass along my prediction of name change.

Marc, I don't know how valid this info is, but an assist. cruise director on the Navigator in Dec., told me Mark Conroy was on the week earlier and announced the name change to Regent Seven Seas Cruises..easy on the stationary any way..for what it's worth..r/wes

That has been the name that has been out for about two years now Regent Seven Seas Cruises. Just never seems to happen. It will eventually.

That name still sounds like Regis and Kathy Lee, to me
It also reminds me of that cruise line that went bankrupt, I think it was Regency?
I would of prefered just plain old Seven Seas Cruises!

I agree with you, Karen. I wish they would drop the "Regent". Besides fitting with the "RSSC", I don't see how it describes or relates to the cruise line. Of course, it might be a legal issue. Was there ever an official "Seven Seas Cruises"? Perhaps that name isn't available.

Donna, back in the olden days, the Song of Flower was Seven Seas Cruises. Then they added the Diamond and became Radisson Seven Seas Cruises.

I know that their Regent hotels are supposed to be more upscale and they wanted to get away from their less fancy Radisson brand hotels but I don't get what hotels have to do with a cruise line.

My idea:
1. Just drop the humility and call it like it is:

I'm with you, Donna. I would love for them to return to Seven Seas, but I fear the monogram would be expensive to replace. They need the "R."

Phil, I love your "Onslow" quote.

Phil,
I love that program! Did you see the one where they all went on a cruise and Daisy and Onslow were all dressed to kill and dancing...imagine Onslow in a tux! Hyacinth was so jealous!

Ah, yes - "Keeping Up Appearances" sails the QE2... and much of it was actually filmed on the ship!
Trivia question:
There was Daisy, Hyacinth, Rose, and a 4th sister - what was HER name?
(Hint: SHE had a Mercedes and a pony on her "estate.")

I'm thinking...I'm thinking...she only talks to her on the phone..."Tulip"?.."Petunia"..."Jonquil"? confused My favorite BBC show is "Last of the Summer Wine". When Campo died I was depressed for a week.

I love Keeping Up Appearances also. VIOLET is the other sisters name. Yes a TOKEN PLEASE!!!

So another Trivia question - what is Violets Husband name. The one who wears womens clothes. Who can match me token for token.

As to the cruise line name. They did a survey and Seven Seas alone came back with a lot of people thinking of the salad dressing!!! They did not like that. Regent is a good name in hotels and Radisson bought some Regent hotels and the "name". I think this is where this idea is coming from. Plus it stays RSSC.

Personally I dont think they should change it. They have finally received a lot of recognition that they deserve, now people know RADISSON and now they are going to change it. I just dont get it.

Silversea just went through "rebranding" too with a new spokesperson and a new image. As much as I adore Isabella Rosselini, does this really change anything.

The actual cruise line does not change because they rebrand. Then again I am not in marketing so what do I know. Smarter people than me run these companies.

I will have to answer you after my wife wakes up! Ngaire, my answer would have been the Piano Teacher? Wasn't Violet the next door neighbor? I think it is Geoffrey. But I'm not sure.

Diana is the trivia buff in our family. For Christmas, I got her he Turner Classic Version of Scene It! My son and I were lucky enough to get the first roll and went out to a huge lead before we missed a question. That was the last time we saw the dice. From the very first roll until the end, she didn't miss a single question and beat the two of us to a pulp!!!

OK, I have been told "Bruce" and corrected that the next door neighbors were Elizabeth and Emmet.

Branding is overrated in many categories. Often times ad agencies just want to sell unnecessary surgery so they try to push for "rebranding" efforts that generally have little to no NPV. And as someone else has stated, RSSC has gotten a lot of positive publicity lately as "Radisson Seven Seas Cruises." Honestly, RSSC should just focus on what it does best - being the world's best cruise line.
