Fantastic photos!!! That was probably 10% of what you took? I'm still trying to get mine labeled and uploaded.

Fantastic pictures! I especially enjoyed the photos of Marika with her cousin. Thanks for including them. Some of those pictures taken at night with the lights are outstanding. It looks like you ate your way through a wonderful vacation.

Excellent photos, Masaki. You have some nice shots that we somehow missed, and it is fun to see the things you did that we didn't do. We did not make it to Shanghai old town and the soup dumplings as we had that planned for Sunday morning, when we ended up leaving early. Next time!

Truer words were never spoken. :D I'm surprised that I only gained 5-6 lbs over the course of the 3 wks. I attribute that to all the walking that we did as part of our cruise tours. :)

Thanks for all the kind words. I'm looking forward to seeing other people's photos! Dena - that's part of the fun - to see what other things happened that you missed and you can earmark them so you don't miss them the next time!

Well done, Lauri! More great memories. I'd almost forgotten what Japan was like, it seems like we were there so long ago...

Your photography skills are just fine in fact I think you can officially be a member of the LCT Lots of Camera Talent society. Some really good shots from Xian. Thanks for sharing.

Lauri - you sell yourself way too short. You had some great shots! What happened to your Li River pictures though? It seems like things jumped from Guilin to Hong Kong.

BTW, one small correction - in your Kyoto pictures, the picture that's labeled "fish with ?miso?" ... those are actually pickled vegetables. The big white slabs are radishes (daikon). The brown stuff you see on them is rice bran - this form of pickling is called "nuka-zuke".

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nukazuke

More information than you ever wanted to know about Japanese pickles.

I am so busy studying for my sleep boards in a few weeks that I have had little time to play with my pictures but I will eventually get them posted. By the time I do, I may need Masaki to help me name the vegetables, too. By the way, I have been considering dressing up either as a daikon or possibly, a sea slug for Halloween!
:)

The nuka-bed must be stirred well daily to keep it from becoming putrescent, moldy or infested with vermin.

YUM!!! Almost as good as fermented squid for breakfast ;)

Great pictures Masaki! It definetly brought a smile to my lips...especially the seafood feast in HongKong. I loved the pictures of Marika with her cousin Emma. Laurie, your pictures are terrific too. I especially enjoyed Tokyo b/c Mitch and I never got there. Thanks to all for sharing!

I think a sea slug might be interesting though others might mistake it for an earthworm. :)

Like your Li river cruise pics too, Lauri! And we shouldn't forget Ron too - would love to see his pics too!

I'm counting on you and Ken copying his pictures when he's not paying attention and posting them on the board, Ngaire. :)

Definitely would love to see more of Ken's pics when he gets a chance.
