Pictures tell such a story and even though I have been to Tahiti a few times it never ceases to delight me to see pictures of this beautiful part of the world. Looking forward to the Marquesas Islands, such a different atmosphere there, like stepping back in time. Great destination.

We now have the first Marquesas island in view, but barely. It is cloudy, windy and raining. I doubt we will be able to get off the ship. All this way from Bora Bora and we can just sit here and watch. Oh Well.

Bad news. Our daughter called yesterday and my wife's father passed away. We bought insurance, and are now attempting to fly home. We may have to wait until we get to Rangiora on Sunday.

Steve,

Sorry to hear your news. One of our passengers died on our ship and they arranged the widow to get off the next day and fly home. Hope you can get home as soon as possible also.

Thanks for all your wonderful memories.

Dear Steve,
I am so sorry. I am also worrying about a death stopping our trip. (More worried about the death than the trip--the doctors and health workers and care team all say to go--but we are prepared not to go or to return.)
Love, Elena

You all are too kind. What a great family.

We do have flight arrangements from Rangiroa on Sunday.

More pictures to come.

Going to La Veranda tonight for the 2nd time. We have made some great friends on this trip, Dan and wife from this forum, and Mike from CC. They will be joining us. JB doesn't feel much like meeting new people right now.

Steve, what sad news to get. I'm so sorry for your loss. Our recent trips have all been with the fear that we would get that type of news (my husband's mother is now in a nursing home). May you and your wife have a safe trip back home.

Steve, I'm so sorry for your family's loss. Must be so hard for your wife. You are living our dreaded nightmare. We both have elderly parents and this is our major worry when we travel. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.

We got home Monday afternoon, and arrived at my mother-in-law's house almost 24hrs after leaving the PG. What a day. (More on that in the trip report).

I am in the process of scanning in photos and putting together a slideshow for the memorial services, and it will probably be a while before I can get around to completing the photo albums and doing a trip write-up.

Suffice it to say that for four days/nights aboard the PG we had a marvelous time. (The other 4 were gut wrenching at times wishing we were home with family, but we made great friends on board so had a nice little support group.) I can certainly see why people rave about that ship, the staff and the food. The food. Oh my. 4 nights L'Etoile, 2 nights La Verandah, and 2 nights Le Grill. I especially loved the bottomless wine glasses...I NEVER saw mine empty (well, except when we were first seated).

We are already talking about when we can go back to finish our trip. (Right now would be our first of 3 nights post-cruise at the Hotel Bora Bora...sigh.)

This isn't the way we had planned it...but thank goodness we bought insurance (I will give a full report on that process as well...so far so good.)

Oops, forgot I had created this on-board the PG but was then unable to upload it.

This shows our last hours at the ICB before taking a cab to the dock, boarding the PG, our cabin, and some other misc. shots

I was just marveling at your pictures wishing we could be there too and then I read about your father-in-law passing. Our sympathy to you, your wife and her family. Now I know why you get insurance.

I was surprised it was so rainy. I thought this time of year was the best time to go with dry weather.
