East Coast - West Coast - what about us in betweeners?

Any interest in a weekend gathering in the heart of the country?

I'd love to! KC is closest, but we could go elsewhere if there is an alternate overwheming favorite. Somewhere on the Plaza might even be nice.......

Is there a way to make it possible to view the results but note vote? I am interested in how this is polling but do not want to skew the %'s given that I would not go to this...

Robert, I don't know the technical answer to your question, but I can tell you that right now six people have voted, and Kansas City in September is leading the pack.

Sue, you're right that someplace on the Plaza in KC would be nice. Since leaving Kansas after college I have endured my share of Kansas jokes -- many of them from my husband! -- but I continue to insist that KC is a hidden jewel of a city. (Actually, my husband grudgingly agreed after being dragged there for a visit.) Okay, okay, I know the Plaza area is in Missouri, but still ... Anyway, we'll see what happens. A Midwest gathering would be great fun.

Now let's see how many Kansas jokes this post encourages .... :D

Mid-western efficiency will probably have this group deciding and meeting before we on the opposite coasts have even come up with a date or time!

Pricilla (aka TOTO!) I found him googling (of course) just typed in cairn terrier - found some great photos!

As a former mid-westerner I have to agree with jhp...your planning will probably leave all of us in the dust.

PS: Great poll - lots of possibilities covered - I'll try to remember that next time we try polling the east coast! Of course, now that I live in Florida I have lot's of trouble counting votes, so polling is difficult

Yes, Margo, all those hanging chads, but we will persevere, it may just take a little more time!

I just looked at the ballot and it did not make me vote. Poor Richard can't be here to vote for Oklahoma City because he is with Ngaire on the way to Bermuda!

Olivia...you don't have to vote, but you can't see results unless you do.

I didn't vote because I probably can't make it to KC.

But I'm still hoping some Floridians will find a way to meet for lunch or dinner sometime soon.

I think there are at least 3 or 4 LCT members within 30 minutes of Sarasota. We may have to start small before we go global!

Perhaps before the east coasters but the west coasters not only have a date for the get together, they have a date for a get together to plan the get together. :D <img border="0" alt="[rofl]" title="" src="graemlins/rofl.gif" />

i started this poll but don't know how to let people see the outcome without voting - perhaps karen S or Mr. Kimmi can figure it out. Anyway, I hope this happens - it would be great fun!

I am bumping this up because so far, only 8 people have voted. Of these 8, 7 people want to have a get together - 1 does not. 6 of the people that want to have a get together have voted for KC 1/2 in September and 1/2 in October.

It should be fairly simple to get such a small group together. But I can't believe there are only 7 midwesterners that want to party!

I keep checking back here to see if there's any more interest. You right and left coasters are welcome to join us as well! I can drive from St. Joe, but it doesn't take much arm-twisting to get me to stay on the Plaza either. Haven't tried the Fairmont since it bacame one.

Sue - I think it's going to be a small group, but I am more than willing to plan it. Hell, if people want they can stay at our house - we have 3 extra bedrooms and the vacancy sign is usually lit. We can figure out the restaurant and vote for a weekend.
Let's see - off the top of my head there is
Plaza III
McCormick & Schmicks
Captiol Grill
Ruth's Chris
Fairmont's Restaurant
The Rafael
P F Changs
ReVerse
Classic Cup
Cheesecake Factory
Jardine's
Frankie's on the Plaza
and that is only at the Plaza - there's a bunch more - any input?

Grahab -- That's a lot of restaurants just on the Plaza! I've only been to Plaza III there, and that's been several years, plus a good Asian restaurant (but I don't remember the name). By the way, we should have some more votes when Dolebludger gets back from VTC (Richard and Carol). I'm hoping they can come from Oklahoma City if this really gets going.

Priscilla, Like I said = that was just the tip of the iceburg - and really - I have this huge house with just me and Bob and Dino taking residence = you are more than welcome! Richard & Carol were fabulous hosts when Bob & I visited Oklahoma City last year - hope we can do the same with them & any other LCT members who want to join us!

It's funny. I used to get to the Plaza a couple of times a month at least - now it's like a major treat to plan a visit. Love the Raphael - both hotel and restaurant. We could do Hibachi and let them toss food at us -haven't been there in years! (Not sure if that's the one you meant, pkd - several have come and gone but Hibachi has been there for years....) I'll help if I can - my work schedule is so out of kilter sometimes we'd have to get closer before I'd know for sure.

Sue, Hibachi doesn't ring a bell -- and no one tossed food at us! -- but I can't remember at all the name of the restaurant I was thinking of. Doesn't matter. Anywhere will be fine with us. What I'm hoping is that whenever the get-together is scheduled we can combine it with a trip to see my mother and other family in Kansas and then make a short side trip to KC (assuming that's where it ends up being). It's all wishful thinking right now, but I'm hoping it all will work out!

Joanne, you are so gracious to offer your house! I'll keep my fingers crossed that the get-together happens and that we can be there.

Joanne, thank you for the invitations regarding a place to stay in KC. I also hope that is where we end up. I could then drive over to visit my son who is in school in Columbia or maybe I could get him to come see me. I know he would be thrilled to have me see his apartment, but I haven't been to Columbia since his undergrad graduation & I think it would be fun to go back. And I promise those Phoenix photos aren't the real me - maybe!!!

Personally, I think that Dallas would be a great place to host the Midwest LCT. DFW is quite a hub and maybe Ngaire would even host it!!!

The Gaylord Hotel, just outside of DFW is going to be rather spectacular and would be a great place to meet.

Just another suggestion. Oh, and it is 20 minutes from my house. Not that this had anything to do with it!!!

We have room at the house and have a pool, spa, media room and a blender that makes great drinks!!!

We still haven't heard from Richard & Carol - and votes are still bein taken

So far, KC in the lead in Sept/Oct - but it could change!

If we do wind up in KC - Bob & I will host a dinner here one night & we can go out another

grahab:

So good to hear from you again after our meeting last October in Oklahoma City. Sorry so many places here would not accomodate your sweet little dog, but the dog is always welcome at our house (where it would just run around with our two little dogs).

For a "meet up" we need to consider air availability and climate. That's why I recommend Denver in September. Denver is an airline "hub" to which most of us can get a non-stop flight. Also, Colorado is beautiful then, with the aspen trees turning yellow in the foothills, and with a temperature in the 70's. It is also inexpensive to go and stay there in September, as it is not ski season or "summer get away" season.

So therefore, there is much to recommend Denver in September for the purposes of your post.

Thanks,
Richard :) :) :)

Denver could work - actually - if there was another location I had not thought of please suggest. Anyway we have lots of time because sept/oct seem to be in the lead of votes!

Richard & Carol - Welcome home - sorry about the vibration problem you experienced.
