Capt. Dag announced that we (Voyager) will be meeting the Navigator around 3:00 this afternoon here in the Atlantic. Tom and I are going up to the bridge to see it all. Jamie is going to water ski around the ships....should be fun! Anyway, we're excited to meet up with them. I'll try and get a photo if I can and report back how it all goes!

That was sure fun! We were up on the bridge for at least an hour and a half and got to see it all. Jamie was great as he climbed down the ladder and got into the zodiac. He was wearing a full tuxedo and hat (hopefully he had a wet suit on underneath). They also had a large inflated "killer shark" on board that Jamie skiid with. The Navigator was still quite a distance away at this point but off he went (Capt. Dag was driving the zodiac with 2 other people inside as well). Jamie skied a very long ways as we were still about 8 miles away from the Navigator. He circled the Navigator and by then the two ships were getting close enough together that we could easily watch. Jamie is an amazing skier but even he eventually was leg weary and had a couple of mishaps. Luckily, he wasn’t hurt or anything….just put on a great show for us all. The Captain of the Navigator (Capt. Jarle (spelling ?) was the staff Captain under Capt. Dag and they've been good friends for many years. They go back to the Song of Flower days so this made it all that more special. The Atlantic was the most beautirful shade of blue and the water smooth as glass today! After the skiing adventure we traded people. Jean Michel Cousteau got off the Voyager and went on the Navigator. Kenny Smiles got off the Navigator and came aboard the Voyager. Kenny came straight up to the bridge and got on the PA making jokes that could be heard through out. It was all way too funny!!Both ships were playing blaring music and ALL the passengers on both ships were outside watching and waving to each other. Eventually the two men traded places again and each ship had to sail away. It was such an exciting time and Tom and I could never have had a better view of all this than from the bridge. I took many pictures that I’ll download soon. For the moment I’ve got to rush off to trivia but soon I’ll post the pictures. Phyl, where ever you were standing....I was waving to you!! Editing: here are the pictures I took today Voyager Meets Navigator Pictures

Marcie - I am sure we were waving at each other. I was just above the bridge on the starboard side the whole time.
I think the 2 captains really get off on flying around the middle of the ocean in those zodiaks.
Really glad that we got Kenny back. First time on a cruise with him and would have hated to have it cut short :)
It was really funny when we saw the ski boat coming and from previous meeting I knew that it was your cruise director. I told this to the people on deck and they could not believe me.
I told Sam that he should have parasailed over to the Voyager :)

Phyl, I just edited (above) and added pictures. I got lots of good ones of the Navigator. Your view of the Voyager probably looked the same.

What great pictures, Marcie!
The Navigator captain is Jarl Jensen ("yarl yensen"), and he is so incredibly friendly. Perfect RSSC captain, for sure.

The photos were great - I think we're all looking at them at the same time because they were coming up slowly - worth the wait - what a beautiful day and meeting for all of you at sea.

What an incredibly smooth ocean. So neat that it was that way when the ships met. Seeing Jarle in one boat and Dag in the other in that shot,I sure wish I could have been there. Kenny Smiles looked great you had some wonderful shots of him too. You have been our eyes on this trip Marcie your pictures have been so truly amazing all the way through. We are all going to miss your reports SO much.
I had calls from passengers while this was going on today and everyone was so excited. These are truly special moments and memories that stay with you forever.

JoAnn,I doubt if Steph would know this far in advance whether he'll visit the ship on CROSS or not. He works in "Corporate" now so these guys bounce from ship to ship visiting.
Ngaire, from what I've been told Capt. Jensen will be on with us on FJORDS as a kind of co-Captain. Denise, I will definitely give your regards to Steph.
Tonight and tomorrow night we're having Jimbo's Truck Stop where the passengers eat down in the crew cafeteria. There were too many to do it all on one night. On April 28th it is Tom and Judy's birthday (Judy is who we went to Dubai with) so we're having a party in Latitudes. Rather than have it a Birthday party, we're having it as a Farewell party. We're going to have lots of "junk food" with things like pizza, chili dogs, chicken wings, etc. Saturday is also the full WCers Farewell Party and slide show of pictures taken during the past 4 months (pre-dinner in Constellation Theater). Thursday night is a special Compass Rose dinner for just full WCers. We even have a "STOP YOUR PACKING" party on Friday hosted each year by Barbara Clutz. As you can see every day and every night is jammed packed with parties.
Still haven't started the packing but at least I went down and got the bubble wrap....that's a start!

Oh, also adding..... I changed color tags for disembarkation and got an earlier time. They're estimating we'll get off around 10:00am. We'll head straight to the Embassay Suites for our breakfast.
Off for afternoon poker

Hi Marcie,
Forgot to ask you if you could find out if Elda will be on CROSS. Sure would love to cruise with her again.
Enjoy the parties, Marcie! See you back in the O.C. soon!

Marcie,
Will you be having the sale/auction to get rid of stuff people bought and now don't want? Do I remember correctly that this was done in 2005? (or maybe last year)

Marcie...I remember when Jamie organized a "stop your packing" party for us on the Mariner in 04 - and we'd only been on board for a 26 day cruise - they strung laundry lines through the different levels of the atrium on the Mariner and there was lots of odds and ends hanging as though someone was flinging things out their doors - clothing everywhere!
I can't imagine the job after 100+ days - I guess you have to have lots of patience and stop often! Poker sounds like more fun!

I wish I were lucky enough to witness the meeting. The closest i got was last year in St. petersburg, when the Voyager was already docked. Not quite the same feeling. Lynn

LOL, Lynn that still kind of counts!! Don't forget to read Larry & Karen's excellent journal and see their pictures. Larry was perched high on a catbird location by the smoke stack so he had a great perspective. Here is the link: http://journals.aol.com/thelmccrackens/worldcruise

WOW! Those are great pictures. It brings the excitement of the "sistahs" mid-ocean meeting to life!!
This reminds me of our dance with the Mariner on the Panama Canal cruise Jan 06. One of the best highlights among many as a RSSC cruiser.
STOP PACKING party? OMG. Another one for the memory books.
Hurry BACK, Marcie. We can't wait for more installments of Whirl Cruise 2008!!
Cheers, Anne
