21 days until we sail! We leave for Nice on Wednesday and arrive on Thursday.
Cut and pasted from our WAVE thread:

Our cruise is named WAVE
There are 11 of us from LCT Booked that I know of and a few from elsewhere!

We're meeting for cocktails at 7 pre dinner in the Voyager Lounge. We'll also be on Pool Deck if there is a sailaway party on the top deck (which there probably is!).

If you don't recognize me by my Avatar, I will the one with the big camera around my neck, taking photos of the scenery, and a Cosmopolitan in the other hand!

I'm betting we will be on deck for the sailaway as well, Kathy. I am probably remotely recognizable from my avatar, and David (dmh) from his baseball cap, which says, "Melody Ranch". We will also come have a "lovely cocktail" in the lounge.

We are SO looking forward to seeing Kathy, Frank, Wendy, David and the other LCTers soon.

I just borrowed Washington Irving's "The Alhambra" from the library. It is a masterpiece. I'm just getting started but can hardly put it down. Would recommend it highly for those of you who have or can make the time.

Pat,

I got that book on iPod to listen to on the way over. Maybe I can start listening to it before we get there. Can't wait to see you and Fred in Monte Carlo!

Pat, what a great idea! I'll have to see if it's available for my Palm! I'm sure it's out-of-copyright, so it's probably freely available. I will try to find it--no I see it's not, I'll see if I can find the book locally.

Wendy - Try amazon.com. The best one available in print in hardcover is the Library of America edition, which includes Bracebridge Hall, Tales of a Traveller, and The Alhambra. That is the one I ordered and which we'll be bringing on the cruise. There are also some electronic versions available from amazon.com. See you in a few weeks at the sailaway... Cheers, Fred

I was able to download it from www.audible.com for the iPod, but you can select which format you want. It was very inexpensive.

So far, no dice. I could get it on audio cassette, but Amazon tells me it would take 4 to 6 weeks to ship. Still looking for a text or Palm version. I will try to find time to skulk around some of our many used and vintage bookstores. You never know what could turn up. Or, I could go out and buy an ipod!! (But I don't want that. I really don't like Apple's draconian approach to digital rights managements.)

Edited to add: Found it in ebook format, but only for Windows and Winc (aka pocketpc). That means I can read it on my 'puter, but can't load it onto my Palm. So, I can read it before we leave, if I can't find the actual book.

Hello Everyone,
I have just registered, but have been lurking for a few weeks and have received some great advice from several of you. My husband Woody and I will be on both WAVE and BLISS and are looking forward to meeting you at the cocktail party. This will be our first Regent Cruise and our first Baltic cruise.

I was happy to find this board. We were on The World of Residensea in September and have done several Silversea cruises so hopefully we will have information to trade.

We still do not have our docs. Will check with TA next week. Did they come from your agent or directly from Regent? We will be leaving Orlando on June 7 and will spend the night of the 8th in Monte Carlo. Do any of you know how early we can actually board the Voyager?

We are still looking for a small group tour in Bordeaux. Greg is working on that, but I guess we could add another couple if it works out. Any one interested?
Vivian

Hi Vivian -

Welcome to LCT! Glad you made it over here. We all got our docs last week, but our agent, Brown and Keene, sends them out via Federal Express. The BLISS cruise is escorted and there are more LCT members on that cruise, than on WAVE so you will get a double dose of fun.

We're going in early too and staying in Monte Carlo at the Hermitage and we're flying from Atlanta to Nice - is that the flight you are on? We have a layover and will probably be in the Delta Crown Lounge unless we decide to go eat dinner on land since we're in coach.

Kathy, we are indeed on the same flight and I think our hotels are very close together. We are staying at the Mirabeau. Perhaps we can meet in the Crown Room in Atlanta. We will definitely be there unless our flight from Orlando is delayed. Our layover is only an hour and 25 minutes. When the time gets closer,we could decide on a precise spot in the Crown Room or something. Looking forward to meeting you. I have enjoyed your posts.

We'll possibly be with Greg and Gretchen and her cousin (Two Tall Blondes!). I will be with the most handsome very bald man and have plenty of hand luggage. You will find me easily - since I do like just like my avatar!

Perhaps, we can share a cab/van to Monte Carlo. We haven't booked any transportation from the airport - everything I contacted was booked and Ngaire said just take a cab!

Kathy, have you thought about taking the helicopter? Expensive, but apparently a really beautiful view of the Cote d'Azur. You could also probably contact the Hermitage about arranging a transfer. Our hotel in Nice did that for us.

Thanks, Wendy, but, the Helicopter is a bit over the top. Plus I think my luggage will need it's own transportation (lol). I just emailed Tour Azur. We'll see if they are available. I am not worried. I am sure if we arrive at the airport, they will have a cab available.

Today is preliminary packing day here. :woh: :woh:

Oh my god, already! I'm dealing with a street-wide yard sale that we're having next Saturday. And the cleaning lady is coming tomorrow. No packing pre-organization until after she's done, and the yard sale stuff is all laid out and organized.

I did go shopping again today, and bought a few things.

I bought new white pants today ( 2 pair, actually, online) and all those little bottles are refilled so the toiletries are ready. Refilled my travel "medicine chest" - nothing worse than getting a cold or digestive upset and not having your favorite remedy handy. My camera and other electronic gadgets are set to pack.

The hard part is laying out clothes and shoes and accessories and figuring out which outfit and making sure you can mix and match so you take less. And on this we will have a variety of weather too. I have a bunch of stuff all pulled out and folded but I think I will have to go over it and put it together as I will wear it.

You think I've never travelled with all the excitement and what have you. confused I just have way too much stuff.

I am getting nervous at hearing all your packing progress. I am still thinking about what to take for Memorial Day weekend at the beach. We wil be cruising for 22 nights in different climates plus three weeks in the north of Ireland. I can't begin to think about packing.

Vivian,

Please don't let my packing progress scare you. I work 10-14 hour days being self employed and packing at last minute is not an option. I have to prepare my work to so I can be gone for more than two weeks. Besides, it's fun to think about leaving. I think for as long as you are traveling, you can pack to 10 days and recycle and launder. For 10 days crusing and 4 days land (London) I am still figuring out what to bring.

Those formal and informal nights are luggage intensive!

I've got it pretty much in my head what I will be wearing, in a general way. I'm not going to worry about the mixing and matching, it will take care of itself. The issue is, can I keep it down to 4 pairs of shoes! Walking shoes for excursions and post-cruise, nice sandals, everyday sandals, modest little heels, and ?? flip flops I guess. Hmm, that's 5 I see. Oh well.

Wendy - I do that too and then in the last minute I start adding. Then I end up wearing about 3/4 of what I bring because of the favorites or weather or the food was really good.
