We just received word from our TA that we've been upgraded from a guaranteed H to a F on our upcoming 14 August Navigator cruise from Athens to Istanbul!!!!

This really came as a surprise. We had assumed that with the ship being as full as it is that we were sure to remain in a window suite.

We are really getting excited for this cruise. We flew the kids to Grandma's on Saturday and we have been enjoying the peace of just the two of us.

On Saturday, we drive to Beaune France to spend three nights in Burgundy. On Tuesday, its a quick drive home...a load or two of laundry...and on Wednesday we fly out to Athens. Two nights at the Hotel Bretagne and then to the ship...now with a balcony.

We are absolutely excited!!!

Jan, that is quite a treat, being upgraded from either window to balcony, or balcony to another level of suite! Enjoy your balcony; in that area of the world, you can't help but do that!

Beaune is in a beautiful area. Stayed at LeCep several years ago on a great land trip with 5 gal pals. Back then, their restaurant was rather celebrated. First time I ever tried cocks comb as an appetizer!

We are excited about our Beaune trip. We've been busy hitting the German wine road and several trips to Alsace since we've been here. It'll be nice to get to a red-wine region. We also have reservations at the restaurant at Maison Lameloise. This will be our first Michelin 3-star restaurant. Yummy!!

We arrive on Wednesday. Plan to hit the Parthenon and the Plaka on Thursday. The new Acropolis Museum is now open which is supposed to be very good and is co-loacted with the Parthenon.

Some years ago we did a variation of your cruise on the dear departed Diamond. You will have a fabulous time.

One of the absolute top experiences I have ever had was on this cruise. We had left Athens (Piraeus), chugged up through the Dardanelles, and hit the Bosporous just before nightfall. Cruising up the Bosporous with the Blue Mosque, Sofia, etc. on the left and the old town on the right as we breezed under the bridges literally brought tears to my eyes.
