Good stalking Karen! Looks like the same kind of day we had when we stopped in Norfolk after Bermuda. Just think - less than 2 months till we sail away on the Voyager!

I thought the crater was too deep to anchor in. When I was there about 15 years ago, the ship drove around all day. But, as I look at the Voyager today, it seems to have stayed in the same spot. Maybe just coincidence.

When I was there on the Voyager a couple of years ago, the Captain told us that there's only one small place in which to drop anchor, and that's what he did as I remember.

The Nagivator is in port today in NYC, along with some of her friends. The P&O Oriana, Carnival Triumph, Sea Princess, Golden Princess and the Norwegian Crown are all there to keep her company on what looks to be a nice day! Pied Piper NYC cam

I watched the Navigator sail into New York this morning (about 8.15 am) and took yet another photo (from Michael's apartment) wishing all the time it was a coming in to pick me up! The other ships all snuck in while I was asleep but at least I saw the best arrive!

Lee, Sometimes the captains plan when the ships arrive in port or pass certain locales. I think I heard Captain Knut say, "Cruising is all about timing."
Who would want to miss sailing into New York harbour? I have been fortunate to have some lovely memories while cruising. Sailaway from Venice, crusing the Saigon River at dusk, the Stockholm archipelagos, the Corinth Canal, the Kiel Canal, cruising by the Rock of Gibraltar. There are many visual memories of my years of cruising tucked away in my head. It's wonderful when they pop up so you can revisit that time.

Beth, you bring back many good memories! Other wonderful sail-ins and outs in my memory are coming into Sydney, Lisbon and leaving St. Petersburg with the gold dome of St. Isaac's gleaming in the afternoon sun.

You reminded me of some other grand memories, Olivia. I truly loved sailing down the Tagus past one of my most favorite statues, the Monument of the Discoveries. This summer when leaving St. Petersburg, we cruised by the shipyard. Though not pretty, it was very interesting.

Don't know if anyone is interested, but the QM2 sailed into New York at 5.30am this morning - Michael woke me to see it. Of course it wasn't daylight but it looked lovely all lit up. Hopefully, I will see it leaving this afternoon. Last time it was in, it left well after midnight.
Just saw what I think may have been a Celebrity ship arrive.
Maybe I could get a job as a 'ship spotter' and not have to leave on Wednesday! Guess who doesn't want to go home!

I am trying to stalk the Voyager, just to get a glimpse of the ship to make sure she is still ship-shape for my cruise but she has been chartered for some time now. Does anyone know what part of the Med she is doing? I would hate to check every port cam from Istanbul to Barcelona ;)

I watched the Queen Mary sail out the other day - it was in another life now that I'm back home.
I found a post card which had a photo of the Queen Mary in Boston and guess which ship was along side it? The Navigator! Good spotting or what?

Sorry you can't wave at us...I'm sending wave to all of you...rain has stopped. I can't believe how busy the waterfront is this early in the morning. We were in Papeete overnight so I can't wait to hear all about the crew adventures..there was some discussion about going to the Piano Bar.
Last night they were very happy to see all of us go off to bed...then they could go out to party!

What a surprise this morning when we walked out for breakfast to see the Seven Seas Voyager sitting at Mallory Square. Since all passengers had to clear customs in person, we kept hearing Glenn's announcements for passengers to either go to Constellation Theater or Voyager Lounge. It was a terrible feeling being in port with the Voyager but not being allowed to get on. It would have been nice to have arranged to get on today but we had to leave early for the drive home anyway.
And, while we were eating, Crystal Serenity pulled up behind the Voyager.

Marc,
I know how you feel. When we woke up in Sorrento and she was anchoring right off our balcony and then we sat facing her at breakfast while they were readying the tenders, we wanted so much to get onboard.
Then in Rome, while we were on tour of the Vatican, there were two tour groups from the ship right behind our group from our Tauck Tour. I took photos of them waiting to collect all their passengers for the return to the ship while we were off for some free time to roam about Rome!

One can have similar feelings of wanting to get aboard even if one hasn't ever been on the ship.
Wendy and I were booked for the late lamented Diamond, and some friends were on her the week before. We were staying in Nafplion in the Peloponessos islands of Greece for a pre-cruise when the Diamond pulled in. We had a drink with our friends, and I sure wanted to get on board with them when they left.
We had a lovely week in the islands, and later there we were on the Diamond. And I must say that sailing up the Bosporous in the late evening, looking at Istanbul from the deck of the Diamond, is one of those moments whose memory even now makes shivers run up and down my spine.
