I've found such conflicting information!! Where do I go for an authoritative date? That said, if we sail immediately after or immediately before a drydock, do I need to steel myself for a less-than-usual Regent experience? I sincerely doubt the pod problems pose any difficulty on our itinerary, and I can't imagine RSSC leaving the ship tatty enough to bother me. I suppose I'm most concerned about crew morale and service issues. ![[Linked Image]](http://tickers.TickerFactory.com/ezt/d/4;10732;128/st/20070409/e/Mariner+Western+Caribbean/dt/-2/k/fe92/event.png)

Usually I thought have seen Ngaire's website list drydock dates - here is a link to the schedule from her website: http://www.bkrssc.com/2007_Schedule_Mariner.htm

We just got off the Mariner 01/20/07 Our cabins were 1069 & 1071. Both had been completely recarpeted, upholstered, bedspreads, and felt like new beds. They were wonderful. I think they have been doing this work to the empty cabins all along while they ship has been sailing. The ship was in excellent condition.

I believe the dry dock is March 23-30th. We board on the 30th so I hope all goes well!

Hi,
Has anyone recently been in the C cabins on Mariner deck 9? What condition are they in? They seem to be in a nice location, in a small area off to themslves, with easy access to the elevators and laundrette. Will almost seem like a smaller ship, in that you don't look down a loooooong hallway of cabins each time you go in and out. We will be in one of them in March.
Thanks,
Ragnar

Don't know about condition, but we were in 912 in 7/05 and the location is excellent! "Bebop Bonnie" was in same on just past Xmas cruise, so maybe she'll see this and tell you of condition.

We were in suite 924 for 96 days on the Grand Asia Pacific. We loved the larger space and the location is great. The couches and chairs had new upholstery but the carpet had not been replaced. The suite next to us, 922, had new carpet as well. The suite on the other side of us, 926, had new upholstery also but not carpet yet.
We like the location which is "behind" the elevators instead of "in front" as some of the C suites were.

Wow, 96 days....
If you don't mind me asking, do you have any pets? If so, what did you do with them for all that time? We seemed to have trouble even getting away for a week when we had two dogs. Both have gone to doggie heaven recently and thats why we could book a 10 day cruise in March. DW is already visiting the Doberman rescue places, I hope she can hold off until April....
Seems likely that all the carpet will be replaced by March, thanks for the info.

Hi Ragnar,
Welcome to LCT! We have dogs and when we travel, we have a dog sitter come. She stays at the house and pampers our dogs. They absolutely love it = actually, they wish we'd travel more. They have their own tummy-scratcher who is there solely to feed them, walk them and devote all her time to them!

Thanks! I had a buddy that would stay sometimes for us, but he recently inherited a *bunch* of money and now is seldom in town. If, or should I say when, we get some more dogs, I'll probably try to see if the nurses at the vet (big place, many vets and "nurses") we use would want to dog sit. Multiple, large Dobermans are a hand-full

Yes, I have to echo the comments prior to mine here: On our christmas cruise on the Mariner in December 2006, we were in cabin 1100. it was not renovated yet, but as we went down the hallway, some cabins looked compeletly redone: Carpet, drapes, furniture, bedspreads--everything---and it looked great!!! And then the next cabin next door didn't look like anything was done to it except for the new bed.
Our suite 1100 had the new bed, linens and new towels in the bathroom. Frankly, I thought the new towels in the bathroom felt like I was trying to dry myself off with sandpaper--OUCH!!--Oh well, I just gritted my teeth and said to my self-"This is luxury Randy--shut up and don't complain."

You betcha Joanna!!!
I would have LOVED to made a harder attempt to invite all the LCT'rs onboard for a get-together but, I was with my parents, and my mom is in a wheelchair, and needs some special attention at times, and it was just too hard to know what the situation was going to be day-to-day. It was sort of a "working-caregiver" cruise for me, and being only an eight day cruise it was hard to get to know alot of people quickly. BUT, Andrea found us on the last day and she came by for visit---lovely gal!!

I WOULD like to post more, but I think I suffer from "SILVER-STATUS-ITIS"...I read all these wonderful remarks from yearly world voyagers, and folks who go on these fabulous month-long cruises it seems like every other month, and here I sit with my 3 Mexican Riviera Regent cruises and 1 Alaska Regent cruise---I get just a little bit intimidated if you know what I mean.

That's just silly, Randy! There are all kinds of folk who post on LCT. Very experienced cruisers, world cruisers, people who cruise once a year others who only cruise every few years and people like me who have not really cruised at all. So join in the fun and post away!

PLEASE DO NOT feel that way - we just started cruising in 2003!!!! I don't know what I am talking about half the time but doesn't stop me - 95% of this board is NON status geared! One cruise or many you are so welcome!!! Andrea thinks you are "A plus" - hope we'll meet you - Joanna

You know Randall, until we took our first RSSC cruise in 2001 and then found the cruise boards, we were only going once a year if that. Take one or two cruises, find the boards and you too can become .....a cruise junkie.
I am Chat Kat and I am not a recovering Cruise Addict.
Something happened here that caused us to end up with some extra cruises on our calendars because we have become cruise addicts. We would join Cruise Addicts Anonymous, but, we're not Anonymous, we have cruises booked and we will continue to book them as long as the money holds out and I keep working 14 hours a day to pay for them. So we don't qualify for a 12 Step Program for Cruisers. You can never have enough cruises planned. What else is there to do now, but, plan the next cruise? We can do it 7 days at a time.

We were in 912 on Mariner over Christmas. Cat C on Mariner is probably our favorite suite category...without getting into the biggies! 912 was wonderful!! It's one with the tub converted into a terrific walk in shower...suite is perfect for us...great space...great balcony ...great location...hope you'll also enjoy!

912 has the shower...it had new bed linens and a rehopolstered (boy did I just butcher that!)couch. TV was the old version, but the suite felt totally comfortable. Carpeting was not new but in excellent condition. This was Christmas week.

Hi Randall!
LCT is a great place for all of us to share our excitement of cruising, exchange all sorts of travel-related information and mingle.
My husband, Alan, and I are not the most worldly travelers by comparison to so many within our LCT circle of friends. However, whatever travel we have done has been amazing. We've got a long way to go to play catch-up with some of the very seasoned cruisers who post here. It's not a contest; we merely have a wish list of trips that we hope to fulfill within our lifetimes. Titanium, Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze, Tin! No one who really enjoys travel fixates on status. The focus is on the journeys!
So, please feel welcome and post often. Our love of cruising and travel (as well as a host of many other topics) bring us all together to exchange a wide variety of subjects.
BTW, we're "neighbors." We live in Tustin!

Funny - R - If you need Toto, she's just down the 101...you don't have to travel to Kansas. No Regent points for that.

Bonnie, We were very happy with 912 and shower conversion, but am happy to hear that sofa has been re-upholstered as it was in need of in 7/05; probably a drink spill but was obvious. Only thing one could "nit-pick!"

Is the new upholstery the same fabric/color?

New upholstery is somewhat different (a little brighter) but fits within the color scheme. I also like the new bed linens...and the 'throw' at the bottom of the bed is decorative and frequently useful!

We're on the Mariner right now and she goes into Drydock at the end of this cruise. Our suite hasn't been renovated yet (except for bed linens) and the service is just as always. They plan to renovate all carpeting, drapes and upholstery by the end of drydock. As mentioned by other posters, renovations are being done at sea in empty suites. Most of the crew will be working on the changes during the drydock time. You should not notice any decrease in service or attitude even the day after drydock.

Does anyone know if Regent plans to convert more of the tubs to walk-in showers, particularly in the standard suites, during the up-coming refurbishment? Those tubs are really hazardous, as well as being too high off the floor with two low an overhead for a 6'2" person to stand up in. We were on the Mariner for 43 days on the 2003 South America cruise, and I was forced to learn to "shower while crouching". Getting in and out of the tub was still a trial then, and I'm now older and less able to balance now, thus quite concerned.
We would very much like to go back to Buenos Aires and finish circumnavigating South America, including the Amazon, to Ft. Lauderdale in 2008, but I'm afraid we really can't afford a C penthouse without foregoing too many other things we'd like to do for too long, and our preferred F suite with shower is already taken.
[size=8]Too Many To List - 416 days & counting on Radisson/Regent, and 150+ days on 8 other lines, with one cruise booked next month on the Mariner, Miami to Honolulu 22 days

I think someone mentioned in a fairly recent thread during the drydock the Mariner will have 50 (?) more suites retro-fitted with the new showers. I don't remember where I read it but is was not that long ago. Maybe someone out there can reconfirm the number.

I hope that they don't convert them all, because having a bathtub is a big deal for me, although I know it is not the best setup.

I'm 6'4" and we're curently booked in a tub/shower C on the 3/13 cruise. I've asked RSSC to put us on a list for a shower-only C. If anyone wants to trade a shower-only C for a tub/shower C, speak up and maybe we can get RSSC to facilitate it. We're on deck 9.

80 suites have already been converted to shower and 50 more will be converted in drydock. They'll continue conversions on empty suites at sea after drydock. There will always be a few bathtub suites for the few that request them. Jim
