My parents, Joan and O.L. Davis, are currently on the Voyager for the Grand Crossing. They reported all is well on the Voyager and they feel "at home" (the Voyager is their favorite in the fleet). A good day in Tunis, but rough seas forecast for tomorrow.

The current staff lineup:

Captain -- Gianmario Sanguineti

Cruise Director -- Lorraine Weimerskirch

Compass Rose Matre d' -- Paolo Millordo

They did not "opine" about the staff; they were more letting me know to see if we had been with these folks before AND so I could pass the names along to our LCT friends.

I will, however, pass along comments, observations, and insights. It's tough to cruise vicariously on this great itinerary, but I'm thrilled that Mother and Dad are having another wonderful Regent experience.

We've sailed with Lorraine a few times. She's a good entertainer and gets involved with lots of activities. No one is like John Barron. The Captain is a Apollo/Oceania Captain.

Thanks for the update, Luke! Please wish them well from us. The Voyager has become our favorite ship since we left her 3 weeks ago!

At least, crossing the Atlantic, there is nothing for the Captain to crash the ship into. :D

Lorraine is a wonderful person and CD...very friendly and warm in my opinion. She was on the crossing last year.

Kristin; I am so glad you and Greg loved Voyager...our favorite ship, too...with Mariner running a close 2nd and Navigator 3rd. Heck, they are all wonderful! :app:

My father turned 80 years old today in Malaga; however, he also became ill and had to visit the ship's doctor. After some tests, it was determined that he is passing some blood clots from his bladder and needs to be checked further. So, Mother and Dad will disembark in Casablanca tomorrow. CSA insurance (via EuropeAssistance) will meet them at the dock, transport them to a hospital, and arrange for a hotel for Mother.

Anxious moments, to say the least. I will be on my way to Casablanca tomorrow to lend whatever assistance I can, although I know the main benefit is my "presence."

The good news is that this developed today, rather than a couple of days from Funchal!

Dad is resting in their cabin tonight, which beats the ship's infirmary.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and prayers.

Luke I am sorry to read about your Dad's illness, but as you say it is far better it happened now vs. during the actual crossing.

Safe travels to you and I know your Mom/Dad will be so thankful to have you there.

Luke, my best wishes for your father.
Col. Wes: am back home from the hospital, all is well, am in love with the pain pills. Your job now is to just have the best best time and send some Cordon Bleau recipes. And consider one or both parts of the 5/1=5/16 crossing and Spain cruise.
DONT FORGET TO DANCE WITH YOUR LOVELY IDA!!!!

Thanks for the well-wishes. Dad is admitted to a hospital; Mother is checked into the Sheraton and there is a driver from Regent's tour operator who has been helping. I have talked to the USA consulate in Casabanca, so I think we have covered as many bases as possible. No word from Mother in the past 6 hours --- I optimistically put that in the "no news is good news category."

I'm in the Miami Admirals Club awaiting my overnigt flight to Madrid, with a connection on Iberia to Casablanca. Hopefully my Exec Platinum upgrade to busiess goes through.

Thanks for the thoughts, prayers, encouragement, and support

Oh Luke, I just saw your news after happily calling up this thread specifically to see how your parents were enjoying their cruise. I'm so very very sorry to hear about your dad's hospitalization -- and I'm very glad you're on your way to meet them. I have no doubt that seeing your face will be a great relief to both your mom and your dad. If you think of it, give them our very best wishes. John and I will be thinking of all of you and awaiting further word.

So sorry to hear this, Luke. You know we all hope and wish for your dad's full recovery, and that your mom is comfortable. Of course, best you come, just to "be there" for both of them. You are fortunate to be in the position to do that.

In transit at the Iberia lounge in Madrid. I used an EVIP to upgrade to business, and then American bumped me to First Class, so I am as well-rested as I could hope for. No messages from Mother, so it's on to Casablanca in a couple of hours in search of parents and information.

I am so sorry to hear about this, Luke - and of course the positive is that this happened before the ship left Funchal. Please keep us posted and know that you and your parents are in our prayers.

Thanks again, for the thoughts and prayers.

I arrived on schedule and went straight to the hospital. I found a much-improved Dad and a much-relieved Mother. Dad had a yet-to-be-translated "procedure" yesterday that alleviated his pain and he is in great spirits. He is now consuming the numerous newspapers and magazines that I brought from the States.

Mother and Dad give HIGH praise to the medical staff here and the local rep for CSA Insurance has provided very caring assistance.

Hopefully the CSA medical team will talk with the local doctor today to review Dad's status and discuss when he is fit to travel. Then it's on to the travel planning.

We will provide a full review of the insurance logistics when we return and begin the claim process. I think, for now, that we are all pleased with the "human" element of CSA's work, regardless how the monetary aspect unfolds.

More later.

Thanks from the Davis family.

p.s. -- Mother and Dad are already talking about another Regent cruise!

Luke what great news that your Dad is doing so much better! I know they have to be so glad you are there with them.

Glad the insurance co and Regent have been so much help...what a frightening situation to be in a country where you really have to depend upon others for assistance and not be real sure about what is taking place with language barriers.

Luke, that's very good news about alleviation of your dad's pain. Even better to hear about his positive spirits and that your parents already are talking about another Regent cruise! That's fantastic -- as is the fact that you are in Casablanca with them to navigate through the logistics of returning to the U.S., with any luck very soon. John and I send a fond hello and best wishes to your parents -- and you too, of course!

The Davises are smiling in Casablanca.

Dad has been cleared to travel! A nurse is on his way from D.C. to escort Dad back to Texas. We will all leave on the same flight to Paris Wed. morning and then I will head to Dallas while Mother, Dad, and the nurse travel to Austin. I'm OK with not traveling with them from Paris since the nurse is with them and I know the airlines will give them special attention.

So we are anticipating a VERY thankful Thanksgiving. And the thanks extend to our LCT friends, those we have traveled with and those we have not YET met.

Blessings to all.
