Each keycard shows our SSS level. Given how rarely they are shown to ship's staff, why are they colour coded? At the spa, boutique, or a bar when ordering an expensive scotch; it shouldn't matter what is your level? The only one that could take an interest is the computer room but I have never seen anyone show their card there.
So, is there a valid reason for colour coding? Maybe priority in life boats? :D

Don't you flash your titanium card around to the lowly bronze and golds and say, "free dry cleaning, free pressing, extra events you don't have, even more phone time, free internet, nah, nah, nah....I've spent a lot more on Regent!" :b:

HAHA! So much for that Plat/Titanium color, whatever it is on the cards! Didn't get me anything extra!

Maybe so the staff knows how much time they should spend apologizing when you don't get your excursion since you weren't concierge?

As far as I know the only people who actually SEE the key cards are the Security staff at the gangplank. And it never seems to make any difference to them - I mean their smiles are the same no matter the colour of the card!
Maybe it is a "relic" of Radisson when the cards were actually used for charging things??

They've had loyalty program color coded cards on all the cruise lines we've been on in the last 10 years or so. Also, airlines, hotels, rental car companies, etc all have color coded cards based on your loyalty status with the company --so it's pretty much a standard thing in the travel industry and not at all unique to Regent.

Interesting Peggy, I didn't realize that.
Ksren, I wish Marc and I had kept all of our cards over the years,as I think it would be fun reminising but alas we either threw them away or left them with the security people onboard when we disembarked.

I can remember cruises where you had an actual room key, that you had to leave in the room. No different color codes there! Whoooppppps guess I'm dating myself.

and I can remember having to hang that room key on a certain hook. When the ship was ready to leave port they looked at the hooks. if a key was still hanging there they assumed you weren't on board and started looking for you! Of coruse that was in the days before security!! That really dates me!!

I remember that too, now that you say that! We didn't carry our cards around the ship, instead we turned them in when we got back onboard!
