So Jan was told to call Friday morning so she did. "Call Tuesday" is all they said.
Not allowed to take anyone's name.

Jerry and I got our first shots today at the county Fairgrounds. This could not have been easier or more organized. Kudos to Los Angeles County Public Health! They say we will automatically get an email with our appointments for our second shot. I must have been more worried about contracting this than I thought I was since I was elated and positively giddy as we drove away from the site.

Helen - Please do not for a moment imagine that it is odd that you were "elated and positively giddy" to have obtained the shot. We both received our first dose today and felt exactly the same!! Of course, we will feel even more elated and giddy in four weeks after we have received the second shot. Cheers, Fred

I got an email on Monday night from Baylor for a vaccine appointment on Tuesday, the NEXT DAY. It was in the STAR that is where we will be centered for BOOTS and about a 5 minutes from our office. Talk about close. Strange thing was Ken did not get one. I also got an email from our county for a shot on Wednesday and I had an appointment already with Parkland Hospital on Thursday. THREE options! Guess we got a bunch of vaccine in our area.

I opted for the one at Baylor, sooner the better and so convenient. I felt like a spring chicken. Wheelchairs and walkers, I must have been the youngest one there. Talking to one of the people they said I was just "lucky" I was put in when there was a cancellation. That is why Ken did not get an invitation. They just started last week and only two days. I think they sorted the list by age.

My shot was Pfizer and Ken is keeping his appointment on Thursday and it is also Pfizer.

We just got back from getting our 2nd Moderna vaccinations. Seminole County is very organized. They are using a vacant Sears store in a mostly empty mall. Plenty of signs along the mall road directing us to parking. We were about 2 minutes early for our 9am appointment, checked in, received our numbers (56 & 57) which were called in under 5 minutes. Got the shots, waited 15 minutes in the "recovery" area, and were in our car and on our way home by 9:25.
We're ready to cruise.

The shot at Baylor was on the 6th floor and it was obviously vacant. Lots of helpers and well organized with the Frisco Fire Department involved. There were a lot of people there but extremely well organized. I arrive at 3.15pm, handled paperwork, shot at 3.30 am and left at 3.45 pm. They handled social distancing very well.

Denton County is a drive through and you stay in your car! That is "social distancing" at its best.

Marc,
Oviedo Mall. It's mostly empty so easy parking and no crowds. Entrance was thru the Sears outside entrance so no mixing with shoppers.

Sharing this link about countries starting to open their borders to vaccinated travelers. I believe cruise ships will do the same thing down the road, vaccinated crew and passengers only. This is probably what we need to get things rolling again. Made me happy.

https://www.travelandleisure.com/cr...ven-seas-require-crew-covid-vaccinations
This confirms the crew all being vaccinated and of course we have read many times that it is anticipated that vaccinations will be required for passengers as well.

(a bit off topic ) We're happy we got our first Moderna vaccine yesterday. I'm a scardy cat and it didn't hurt at all, no side effects. We're scheduled for #2 vaccine on 2/26/02 ...added bonus, it's at a Fullerton hospital close to home.

Had our second round of Moderna on Friday, had the grandkids over for a sleep over Friday night, went to the park Saturday morning, took a nap Saturday afternoon, by Sunday morning we were both good to go. Not as bad as I had expected.

Mona and I got our second vaccinations today at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville. It was like the Regent Cruises version of vaccinations. Everything went quickly and smoothly in nice surroundings. The only thing better would have been if they served champagne.

Love to hear that people are getting vaccinations. Hopefully the 1B phase will be completed soon so they move onto the other phases.

My second vaccine was delayed from Tuesday to Saturday. They said the weather had caused a problem with delivery of the vaccine. Looked it up no harm done if you get it a little later than normal. We are expecting lower temperatures than I have ever remembered, down to 0 degrees. Plus about 4" - 5" of snow starting tomorrow. This extreme cold front is something we seldom see.

Ngaire we are in the same boat. We were supposed to get our second shot on Monday but somehow managed to snag an appointment on Wednesday. Second shot is drive thru and those volunteers working in snow and single digit temperatures did not make sense. They ended up canceling Monday and Tuesday; hopefully Wednesday is a go.

Thursday's ice storm did a lot of damage to our magnolia; any more ice tonight and tomorrow and snow tomorrow night may totally decimate our 25' tall magnolia.

Marc the shot can wait but that would be terrible to lose that magnolia tree! Years ago there was a beautiful tree on the golf course that one side got decimated in an ice storm and has never grown back. It looks strange a lopsided tree now.

Kens next shot is for Wednesday when we are supposed to get more snow. He has not heard that the shots that day have been cancelled, but I am sure they will cancel.

Yesterday we had hundreds of robins flying around our house. We have a large Yaupon tree with red berries right near out kitchen window. There is also another tree close by on the golf course. These birds were flying around between the two trees, it was so fascinating to watch. They fly so fast! This happened right before the cold weather came in I guess they were fueling up to help survive the cold. There is not a single red berry left on our tree.

Ngaire, instead of Robins I believe you probably had Cedar Waxwing (a touch of yellow instead of red). We had scores of them a couple weeks ago eat all of our red berries and then leave a mess everywhere. Next year I am thinking of stripping off all the berries before the birds have a chance.

We had hundreds of robins flying around here as well yesterday and this morning. Where did they all come from? I have never seen so many birds, but I am pretty sure they are robins. One sat on my back fence for a while , so I was able to examine him thoroughly.

If you all could say a little extra prayer for the ranchers, it would be appreciated. George looked like he was preparing for a polar expedition when he went out this morning. He and Jon have to feed the cows extra protein pellets and chop ice twice a day. Kind of dangerous. I sent him with extra food just in case.

Happy Valentine’s Day. Stay safe and warm

Happy for you and Jerry. We're almost there...get our 2nd vaccination in 11 days.

This is interesting article about cruise lines requiring being vaccinated to board.

We got our second COVID vaccine on Saturday. I was not feeling well that night and on Sunday - chills, fever, nausea, headache, body aches. But I feel much better today. I thought David was going to get by without any bad side effects, as Sunday he felt okay with just a slight headache and fatigue. But last night he started feeling bad and this morning he has a high fever, headache and body aches. We kind of expected some reaction, so don't let this dissuade you - much better than getting COVID!

We had a lot of tree damage from the ice storm, and now with extra weight of 6 inches of snow we fear we may loose more, and it's not expected to get warm enough to melt anything for a couple of days.

Too bad about your trees, Cindy. That happened to us at our old house many years ago and was one of the reasons we moved to a place with fewer trees and smaller yard.

One of my nurses worked the Covid vaccine clinic on Saturday. She said it was one of the most up lifting things she has ever done. Everyone coming in to get theirs was so positive and grateful, even if they had to wait in line. One little elderly man brought her chocolates!.

Yes Rachel! David and I made a point of telling everyone we encountered how much we appreciated them being there for us. The roads were a bit precarious that morning, and they ended up closing the clinic at noon due to deteriorating conditions. We were so fortunate to have been able to get our vaccines that morning.

David is doing a little better this afternoon - down to 99.6 (from 104 earlier today) - feeding him Tylenol every 6 hours!

Jerry and I handed out 26 See’s candy Valentine Day lollipops yesterday . They were well- packaged in metal hearts so I figure no concerns re germs. One guy declined but everyone else was very appreciative of our appreciation

So far no ill effects for us. I was very tired last night but I blame that on the bottomless Mimosas at brunch.🥳

Bell County second doses cancelled for the entire week; to be rescheduled. sad

After an ice storm last thursday and a snow storm last night they are calling for another ice storm tomorrow night through Wednesday. As the crow flies, we are less than two miles from Cindy; luckily sun came out today and thinned out ice on trees; hoping for no more damage.

Finally, we have received our second doses; exactly five weeks after our first dose. All of our friends and family that wanted to get vaccinated have now received their first dose and have appointments for second; I can finally close windows for multiple counties and pharmacies that I was checking for appointment availability.

A big thank you to Bell County; they have worked hard to get the vaccine out. Even though we live in Williamson County, eight of our friends also had their second doses in Bell County in the last 24 hours. Two others drove to Navarro County (120 miles up the road) today to get their first dose. We are all slowly getting there.

June and I received our second Pfizer vaccine shot this am at Eisenhower Medical, here in Rancho Mirage. Eisenhower is where all our doctors are due to my second home in Rancho Mirage. It is so well organized one can not help but be impressed. We did not have to contact Eisenhower three weeks ago they contacted us and then we set up the first appointment. Second appointment was set at the time of the first shot. We were told today they are processing 1200 shots per day. We had no problems from the first shot and do not expect any from the second shot. All good.

On an other note , the payment for our Silversea Sliver Cloud Aug 15-27 2022 cruise was processed the other day. It caused me to take another look at this itinerary and caused June and I to get all excited again about this cruise. It is an expedition cruise , which we like , but on the Cloud which is such a lovely ship for an expedition cruise. Any body looking for a most interesting itinerary for mid 2022 should take a look at this escorted cruise. Will be lots of fun and goes to some very interesting places not normally places you go to.

Yeah Ralph and June so happy you are fully vaccinated. I am also really looking forward to this trip. When I saw it I instantly wanted to do this cruise. I also LOVE the Cloud. The ship reminds me in so many ways of the much loved Song of Flower. There are some new beautiful new expedition ships out now and I have been on site inspections of a few of them but the Silver Cloud still has my heart.

I'm happy so many are getting their 2nd shot. Tom and I had ours on Friday...we felt fine. Yesterday we both felt tired, a little spaced out. Today we're both feeling well. We had the medical cards laminated (we have 2 very inquisitive cats) so wanted "the proof" totally protected.

A terrific idea to have the vaccine cards laminated. Where did you have this done. Think that is a good idea.
