Cinque Terre

One of the couples onboard are thinking of hiring a tour guide for a half day tour from La Spezia port as Regent's costs are so high. They were hopeful they might interest two other couples to share the cost.

Enough people for our own bus and guide like in India???

Of course I will try with the head of the land programs BUT it all depends on who that person is on the ship and the type of vehicles they have to accommodate a group.

That is always more fun and we did that once in Beijing and as Pam mentioned in India. Also managed it on some excursions once or twice but it is not easy to get done.

Change of plans for us....we are now on from Rome to Venice in cabin #853.

So excited that Jill is going to be on our cruise! She is one of my favorite ladies, as she reminds me so much of a favorite aunt. And looking forward to seeing everyone else! We are not on the alps extension, as that is just too many days out of the office for me.

We've switched to the March-April 2017 Explorer crossing from Miami to Venice via Barcelona, and also booked the Explorer's Christmas Caribbean cruise R/T Miami. Hope to see many of you on one of those.

Wow, this thread has gone quiet. Leaving today for several days in Barcelona. Looking forward to the cruise with friends. We are in Hotel Neri in the Gothic neighborhood if AA gets us there today/tomorrow. Safe travels all. Paul will be the one with binoculars; Maddy will be walking the top deck.

I am very anxious to board the new Explorer cannot wait.

We're waiting in HK for our flight to London and then to Barcelona. Six hours in transit here, 15 in London ( will stay for a few hours in airport hotel) . Looking forward to getting to our hotel I Barcelona. This has to be one of our longest flight times to get to Europe. Oh the joys of award flights!! Will all be worth it when we get on the Explorer and meet up with all out friends. This will be a great cruise.

We leave very early tomorrow morning and fly from LAX-JFK-BCN, Just one night in Barcelona.

When you board Saturday, make sure you get a tour of the spa and gym area. It is very impressive and won't be crowded on turn-around day. The one mistake we and many others made on the first day or two is forgetting there's NO back entrance into Compass Rose...the staircase dead ends. I know you'll feel the WOW when you step on board! We were told by a senior officer that there's 500 chandeliers!

I am anxious to see photos and get reports of the G1 and G2 cabions - I think several of you are in one of these.
So far I have seen no "real life" photos published of these cabins. I heard thru a Facebook friend of a friend of a friend (!!) they were a little on the small side, but I will be anxious to hear reports from our LCTers.

JoAnn, we are sailing on the cruise prior to the big group crossing next March. It's a Caribbean cruise with the draw of a program with several PBS producers and personalities on board, which should make for some interesting lectures and events. It does pain me, though, to know that so many friends will be boarding the day we disembark, and there's no easy way to connect even briefly.

OK got it Priscilla. So sad that we won't be sailing together, bur your cruise sounds perfect.. And yes so hard to connect. Hugs to you and John

If anyone has a chance to check out PH Suite 700, 800 or 900, I would really appreciate a report. And pictures would be awesome. I am particularly interested in the room layout and balcony (these are laid out a little different than the other PH suites). And if anyone can get a good photo of the front of the ship, that would help us see how those balconies are laid out. Sorry to be hijacking this seamail thread - just hoping to get some tips for the future! Hope you are all having an awesome time!!
