The explorer itineraries, deck plan, pricing is finally out today on rssc.com !!
Woo Hoo !!

It's a little tricky, I found it on site map at the bottom but looks like you can also find it in VIA SHIPS and the link to the cruises is in the top Right Hand Corner. That is hard to see at first.

These look gorgeous.

I'm sorry that there's only a shower in the G cabins though, I liked having both options and soaking in tub was good for Tom's back.

Thanks Ngaire, looking at cabins the F, besides the tub it also has double sinks and G's only have a single sink correct?

Oh Betty, I'm so sorry there's no single cabins. They must have changed the original plan.

No single cabins really stinks. It looks like the H cabins may have been originally intended as single cabins? That's the only reason I can think they would put smaller cabins without walk in closets on the new ship. Maybe they'll run decent single supplements on those cabins.

I really like the look of the F cabins.

The I guess I'll never sail on Regent as Gold. So much for saying they would have single cabins.

We received a beautiful brochure in the mail today. The ship looks gorgeous! The letter said they are opening bookings to us as Gold members on Jan 26 (but more than likely, open to everyone who knows about it) wonder

The brochure said there were two more restaurants; you can see one on Deck 10.

I am really disappointed with the queen beds; seems like a real downer for supposedly the most luxurious ship. I also miss a rear facing lounge like Horizons on Voyager and Mariner. It seems this ship has the prime area allocated to folks that pay extra for spa. Still, looks like it could be a wonderful ship.

I bet those G2 aft suites get booked up in a snap. They seem like the best value, with their deep balconies, if one doesn't require midship. We personally love aft cabins.

I was surprized too that the beds in suites below PH are queen. Usually the beds can be configured into King or twins, what happens when someone in the lower suites want twins I wonder?

I think too the G2 aft suites with the larger deck will be very popular and sell out quickly.

Still no brochure! sad

I bet they will need to rethink all of those queen beds. There is about a 45% price jump from H to a penthouse. That's a big up charge for two friends traveling together, a parent and child, or grandparent and grandchild who will want separate beds. They could decrease the size of the night stands to gain the extra 16" needed for a king or two twins.

Are the current beds really "king" size? It seemed to me that on my last Voyager trip that with the bed separated, the twin beds weren't quite true twin size.

GOOD NEWS,

The beds on the Explorer are the SAME size as the Voyager and Mariner. There are OVERSIZED kings in the big suites.

So they should say King beds A-H
California (or oversized) Kings in PHC and up.

Whew that is great news.

That is good news Ngaire. thumbsup We have a King at home, and have always found the beds on Regent very comfortable and a good size. We end up in Queens at our kids houses and barely make thru the night. LOL wink So problem solved.

Some details on the questions that have come up on the new Explorer.

Beds - One point is that the large King Beds in Regent, Master, Grand, Explorer and Seven Seas are fixed frames. They will not split apart.

The curtains between the bed and sitting will be the heavy ones that you can pull across for one guest to sleep comfortably while another works or reads.

The image of the Penthouse suite is misleading. If you look at the layout on the website. There will be doors in the majority of the Penthouse suites that close off the bedroom and living area. Other Penthouses may have curtains but the areas will be separated the same as a regular suite.

According to Regent's website, the beds in Category H - A contain a European King-Size bed which is 63" x 79" (w x h) and that is the size of a US Queen bed. It is true that these beds are the same size as those on the existing 3 Regent ships, but that's not what we in the USA think of as a King-Size bed.

The bed size charts I've seen indicate that a European King-Size bed is 71" x 79" (180 cm x 200 cm). A UK King-Size bed is 63" x 80" ( three inches wider than a US Queen bed). We just got off the Mariner and the bed was definitely wider than 63". We sleep on a California King at home (72" x 84") and the bed on the Mariner was was within one or two inches of our bed at home. I measured the bed on the Voyager in March and it was between 70" and 71" in width. So, if you're happy with the beds on the Voyager and Mariner (and Navigator?), you should be happy with the beds on the Explorer.

BTW, the reference to King-Size Savoir bed in the top suites is to very expensive beds manufactured by a London, UK company.

So much of this is confusing.

If you are happy with the beds on the Voyager, Mariner and Navigator it is the same size bed on the Explorer. So whatever you call it, that bed it is what you get on the Explorer. The explorer beds make up to two twins just as they do on the other ships.

It you want a super sized King bed you go PH and higher and these beds are KING ONLY they do not make into twins.

My very biggest disappointment, and it is really big, is that there is no outside/ inside lounge at the aft of the ship. Why even call it Horizons if there is no horizon?

Olivia, to make matters worse, both Connoseuirs Lounge and outside smoking area on pool deck are just a few feet apart; doesn't look like there is any smoking section near Compass Rose.

Almost looks like the ship was designed by someone that doesn't spend much time at sea. waah

Putting the spa aft where the Horizon lounge should be is a very strange design choice.

They're full of odd design choices. No singles, despite promises that there would be singles. No true Horizon Lounge that can look at the Horizon. No bath tubs in the lowest three categories. (They could, at least, have given us a choice, as they do on the Mariner). Very small rooms in Category H.

What were they thinking? I guess it's too late to rethink some of these bad ideas.
