Amazing I never expected to see 11 again! Reading reports they say it is more to do with the US$ strength than issues with the rand.

Rachel, it is all very, very good! First time I went to Africa with Ngaire, it was around 6, next time around 10, and it cost a whole lot less!
Nice to know the strength of the dollar is doing well these days.

EURO now about $1.30. When we took then 12-year- old grandson to France many moons ago. Euro was 85 Cents! I'm afraid we'll never see those days again! Nathan is now 28.

Every one booked on Qatar Airways to get to South Africa needs to check their itinerary. Qatar had rebooked us on a flight from Doha to Capetown 2 days later than what was on our original itinerary and did not notify us. Our flights from Dallas to Doha were the same, so they were expecting us to spend 2 days in Doha--really??
Fortunately, Ngaire caught this, and I telephoned AA who I had booked the flights through and got everything settled to my satisfaction. We actually now arrive in Capetown a little earlier which is fine with me.

Qatar is great in the AIR and some of the best prices going right now. Nice seats and service. We have taken 3 flights now and the food was better than most airlines but STILL airline food.
We had a similar problem and it is obvious they are terrible on customer service communication. So it is important to keep checking your flights.
Also on boarding in Doha it was a complete zoo. There is a second security line at the gate and the business class line was also the line for those with boarding problems. Wheelchairs or small children. I do agree with the early boarding for those passengers but our business line was MUCH slower than the regular line. So that did not work well.
Then when boarding started It was a rushed free for all. I think they did say business only but the passengers ignored that and they accepted boarded everyone so it was a crush of people.
Even with those issues onboard service and comfort is excellent and it is my new line of choice.
