We will probably be staying 1 night in Barcelona at the end of this cruise as flights back to London are ridiculously expensive on that Sunday. ( 1pm flight 398 Euro pp for a 2 hour flight! ) It seems a better idea to stay in Barcelona and fly out on Monday.

Would love a recommendation as we've never stayed here before. Am thinking of somewhere that is central for walking around safely.

Sheila, you may not like my suggestion, but last time I cruised FROM Barcelona, I booked rooms for myself and two daughters on Priceline. Went to biddingfortravel.com first to see what was the going rate. It was early April, I got rooms for about $100 per night at the Meridian. There are only two hotels in this category, and they are both really good. The Meridian is right on the northern part of Las Ramblas, both of them are. We loved our rooms. I love booking on Priceline, but some are scared of it. It never hurts to offer, all they can do is say no, and you start all over again a couple days later?

I can't even calculate what this website has saved me over many years when I want a really good hotel, but not having to meet people at a specific one. ALWAYS use it at airports.

Does anyone have a recommendation for transfer from Rome airport to Civitavecchia? It's been a while since we've needed this service.

I highly recommend Rome Cabs (Website) which we used last October after MARINER. Despite its name, the company is not a taxi company.

I always use Rome Cabs when in Italy. They are extremely professional and reliable. I just go to the ATM at the airport and take out money in Euros from my American bank account and pay them in cash.

Another endorsement for Rome Cabs from us. I wouldn't think of using anyone else in the future. They are prompt, reliable, courteous, but friendly, and the cars are immaculate.
