We received our docs for our first Seabourn cruise. We leave Jan 6 from Ft Lauderdale on Seabourn's Quest. We sail for 40 days disembarking in Sydney 40 days later.

Then we fly to Auckland and spend 26 days driving both of New Zealands Islands.

Not sure how much we will post until we find out speed of Internet on the Quest.

I know we will miss our perks on Regent but are going with an open mind and glad to spend first two months of winter at sea.

Jan and Fred

Jan and Fred, hello! I am excited to hear your impressions along the way!
We are all looking for alternate itineraries from time to time, even though we surely miss the generous perks on RSSC. I hope you will love this long cruise in another line.

I'm not sure I would want to drive in New Zealand, but I sure enjoyed my Radisson
pre cruise to the Coramandel Peninsula pre cruise out of Auckland for a few days. Best pre cruise I've ever booked, because Ngaire said "you just have to do this'', and she was SO right. Of course she knew, because she grew up in NZ.

We are also interested in trying out the Seabourn one of these years, so will be very interested in any and all your experiences(great ones as well as so-so ones), especially all about the ship, cabin, and most importantly the shore excursions and the staff who handle them.

Since we will spend our first winter, in over 25 years, at home this year I will be doing a "virtual cruise" through yours, as well as others, through your eyes.

Have a wonderful cruise to one of my favorite parts of the world.

Jan and Fred, Seabourn internet is like Regent internet. Some of the time it is slow and other times it is not an issue. We buy the unlimited plan for $399 which lasts for however long your cruise lasts so, for you, it would be 40 days. I just add it in to the cost when I work out the cost of a Seabourn cruise. As this is your first Seabourn cruise, you should have a $400 referral credit. On our first cruise, we used it to pay the internet fees.
We have found the Seabourn shore excursions to usually be excellent. We just got off a 25 night Seabourn Pride cruise from Rome to Dubai and, with the exception of one shore excursion, all of them were excellent.
Have a fabulous time. I look forward to reading your posts whenever you have time to make them.

Jan & Fred, Have a great time. Sounds like a super itinerary.
We have only been on 1 Seabourn cruise (luckily with Capt. Dag at the helm) and we really enjoyed it.

Marcie, do you have any info on where capt.dag is now and on which ship? It would be great to sail with him again.

Marcie,

Did he jump ship? Last year he was on the Spirit and told us that was "his" ship.

Editing to say that I just read he is now on the Legend. Guess he did jump ship!
