Will Debbie, Russ, and the rest of the pax and crew of the Navigator have a close encounter with Sandy? ![[Linked Image]](http://icons-ak.wunderground.com/data/images/at201218_5day.gif) As of now, it looks like their paths might get close come next Tuesday or Wednesday.

Hopefully the Navigator will be able to avoid Sandy....unfortunately, though, she will probably be paying a visit to Doug and Andi! Stay safe, Everyone!

It will be a good weekend to hunker down. Maybe we should have installed the generator?

I am thinking the same thing, Andi! If only to keep my sump pumps going, that is my main concern, as all my mechanicals are in the basement, and in a rain event, need to keep those puppies running.

Well, this is a good test to see if the waterproofing and drain systems worked! I hope nothing mucks up the new room downstairs! Being safe...that's the important thing! I hope all of you are safe.

Woke up this morning after a day and a long night of Sandy to lots of standing water, and lots of beach erosion. The surfers are enjoying another day of large waves. It's fun to watch them out of the window, still to windy to go out on the terrace. This is a wind event, not to much rain yet.

I closed my shutters yesterday. Windy night, but I have an idea there is much more of that to come. Supposed to get the worst for us later today. Just hope we do not lose power. That is the Pits.

Good luck everyone please stay safe.
Hope the Navigator and Debbie and Russ will be ok, been thinking about that since yesterday and hoping they would be ok.
I'm sure we will get some here in Fairfax Co too, and we plan to store everything on the deck this weekend and close up the porch, as we leave a week from Sunday for Paris prior to Grand Prix.
I just hope Frank doesn't have too much of a mess to clean up in the yard at the end of the week.

It looks like the NY metro area will avoid the bulk of the storm... but get plenty, nonetheless. Tomorrow (Sat) is move the outdoor furniture day. I think we'll hit the market tomorrow for extra food. I figure that Sunday will be a mad house as the masses attack the stores in a crazed panic! But it is, last check, down to a cat 1. Still bad, but not as bad. we'll fill the tub & sinks w/ water, too. The lights may go out, but being able to flush is a good thing. (candles & flashlights at the ready, too)
Be safe, everyone!

Hmmm ... Gary should get home tomorrow; I'm due in Tues night. From the track, it looks like the PA house may get a bigger hit than the beach house. I'm sure hoping the beach house is on the west side of the storm.
Stay safe, everyone!!!
Editing to add: just heard one of the incoming storms may dump FEET of snow in the high elevations centered around West Virginia.
That's one for the record books - hurricane spawning snow (outside of the North and South poles)
Cheers, Anne

Anne I'm crossing my fingers for you! I feel very lucky this morning. SANDY passed us last evening about 200 miles off our coast. We still have wind and a high surf, but although some lost power in our area, I did not. HERE is a link to a webcam just north of me. Now my hopes and prayers are with those in the upper East Coast as SANDY moves on up. She is a nasty storm!!!!

Wouldn't you know it? We stopped the remodeling (while kitchen is done, we haven't finished a lot) for a breather and did not put in the generator yet. Quick thinking Doug got us reservations at a hotel for Tuesday/Wed. and we found out that almost all of our hotels were fully booked already. I think we got one of the last rooms.

Stay safe all of you on East coast. This SANDY is a bad girl.
Crazy weather all over. My GF in Boulder, CO has had snow storms and been without power. Here in SoCa it's hot and dry with Santa Ana winds so we'll have fire threats.
Maybe we should all be sipping Mai Tai's on a beach in Hawaii. (and escape all the vote for me, vote for this, pre recorded messages every time the phone rings)

I hope Regent delays Navigator one day before heading from Sydney to Halifax. Looks like very heavy seas once the ship clears the Northeast corner of Nova Scotia and heads towards Halifax. ![[Linked Image]](http://www.wunderground.com/data/640x480/canam_wave_anim.gif) ![[Linked Image]](http://icons-ak.wxug.com/graphics/waveHeightKey.gif)

Oh Betty, was just thinking about you and wondering how things were going down there. Glad to hear that the worst seems to have passed you.
Marcie - OK meet you in Maui!!! Oh wait, we are headed for Paris, oh well, next time.
Andi - glad you have a hotel room booked. Take care and keep us updated when you can. Fingers crossed that it won't be as bad as predicted.

Marcie, what a great idea. I liked the idea of sipping Mai Tai's in Hawaii so much I decided to leave Tuesday for Maui. Sadly will be gone for two weeks and will miss all the phone calls.

Where is the Mariner now? We're in northern New Jersey, and preparing for the worst. There's a state of emergency, and my office is closed tomorrow (and probably Tuesday).

Will keep watching CNN from sunny Vegas. Hope all our East Coast friends get through this safe and sound. We have friends staying with us until they can get a flight to Philly. Might be several days. They can't even get through to United. Lines are jammed!

They are in Halifax, just had an email from Debbie.
They will miss Bar Harbor and are hoping to make it to Boston, but not clear yet.
She said she has a trash can by the bed.

Actually Marc you are right, they were in Sydney, and then going to Halifax, and they will overnight there. Probably why she had the trash can by the bed, for the trip from Sydney to Halifax, which isn't too far, or is it?

Probably why she had the trash can by the bed, for the trip from Sydney to Halifax, which isn't too far, or is it? Port to port is 249 nm; so over 12 hours at max speed in good weather. I wouldn't want to be making that trip tonight; don't know why they didn't stay in Sydney for an extra day, then Halifax, then skip Bar Harbor. Newport is not going to be a good place for a port visit in next few days so they might as well skip that too. Main thing is to get to NYC on Saturday.

Agree, that will not be a fun trip,
I too would have the trash can by the bed - oh my, been there done that on a Transatlantic NY to London many years ago on the old QEII and it was not fun. Doesn't sound like the weather will get much better for a couple of days, but sure hope I am wrong and things improve soon.
Whewwwww.

Notice on Regent website: Hurricane Sandy
Regent Seven Seas Cruises is closely monitoring Hurricane Sandy and its impact on travel plans. Seven Seas Navigator will sail her scheduled itinerary except that she will now overnight in Halifax on Tuesday, October 30 and cancel her call on Bar Harbor, Maine on Wednesday, October 31.
The Port of New York is currently closed and the Coast Guard has not determined when the port will reopen. At this time, with the current forecast of the storm’s path, we expect Navigator to arrive in New York on November 3 as scheduled.
Additionally, we are aware of airport closures and flight cancellations. Our Air Department is working closely with our airline partners to re-route guests who have booked their air arrangements through Regent Seven Seas Cruises. For those guests who have booked air through their travel agents, we encourage them to contact their travel agent directly. Please be aware that this is a very fluid situation and we will post updates as additional information becomes available.

Writing from the command central of B&K Travel. I've successfully managed to hole up here while waiting out my delayed return to the soggy, debris-filled Garden State on Thursday evening. Our borough just lifted the emergency evacuation order this morning. Gary managed to find a way into our house yesterday to see how we fared in the SuperSandy slugfest. Instead of one outdoor swimming pool, we have 3 subterranean swimming pools (our crawl spaces) and had 6" of water inside the house (wading pool, anyone?) at the peak of the flooding. Our floating dock floated right off its pilings, and Lord only knows where it has landed. We were very lucky - the fixed dock did not get smacked by other waterborne debris (like the last two storms) and we were one of the few on the block to still have all the large trees standing. Power is out for the foreseeable future. The PA house is also minus the power, but no water or wind damage. Good to know the builder knows how to put a sturdy roof on those buildings. Part of the town is lit, so we're hopeful the power will come back up soon.
Got to run .. must work for cruises .. and wish all the best to our fellow travelers who were affected by the storm. Hopefully they can check in when the power is back on in their locations.
Tip of the day: electric utilities in the Northeast are not going to have a very good earnings report quarter, thanks to SuperSandy.
Cheers, Anne
