I saw this discussion and went on-line to investigate the visas and was also e-mailing Ngaire about other cruise-related issues. She suggested that I post some of the information I learned. Of course living in Washington, it is relatively easy to do some of these things in person. But most of the time, mailing is an option. On the Cambodia Visa site, it seems that one can obtain a Cambodian Tourist Visa for $25 plus mailing charges. I’ll call them when it is closer to the cruise because the visa is only good for three months following the issue date. I may do this one by mail as its location is not convenient. For details see Cambodian Tourist Visa. The basic fees for a tourist visa for India (U.S.Citizens) (sorry everything in the table below was lined up) but not when I "submit": Duration of Visa Consular Fee Service Fee Total Fee 10 Years (120 Months) Multiple Entry $153.00 $13.00 $166.00 5 Years (60 Months) Multiple Entry $153.00 $13.00 $166.00 6 Months Multiple Entry $63.00 $13.00 $76.00 Plus Mailing charges (Fed Ex for up to 3 passports, which I assume means up to persons) is $22.00 each way. I will probably drop off our applications and pick them up when they are ready. For more information, see: Indian Tourist Visa. All details are spelled out on the respective Web sites. I think these days, most countries are pretty good about providing information on visas when needed. ------------------------------ Eugene

Just filled out our India forms. Set aside several hours. Many forms and very explicit directions including having to get a money order. Be sure to read all directions. Still not sure I did everything right but I guess we will find out. We got the 6 month visa figuring we would not be that way again and since our passports expire 2014 figured they may go away with our old passports. Has anyone tried to use a visa from an expired passport. Meaning taking it along with your new one?

I read on FlyTalk that the you should be allowed to enter and exit India even if your Visa is attached to an expired passport, as long as your current passport in valid and the Visa had not expired. Just take both the current and expired passport and you should be fine, although there are reports of some confusion by certain border agents (particularly on exiting the country) - but "legally" it is allowed. For Brazil, you can take your expired passport with the Visa - and we had personal experience with this and worked fine.

This is correct we are using an Indian visa in an expired passport and the visa service also told us that this is fine. We bought a 10 year visa the first time. I think Brazil and India are two of only a few countries that allow a visa in an expired passport to be used.

Warning! If you decide to send them a prepaid FedEx return envelop be sure it is computer generated. We sent them one from the company filled in by hand and it got rejected. Had to call and give them a credit card for the $24 return postage. Now I see why Regent charges so much.

passports back. All is well and they did it quickly. Just a few quirky things like the shipping charges.

I just started the application process - wow - this involves quite a lot of work.
We are going to use CIBT's Visa Central to process them - If you call them they will email you specific instructions related to what to list as the India reference for Regent and some tips on making sure you fill out the India visa online forms properly.

We will have our photos taken this weekend. I think that I will deliver the forms in person in NYC since I am so near. Might make is easier to correct any errors I might make.
Doug
Then I have to do the Cambodia visa for our pre-trip. That one looks easy.

We filled out the forms online for our India visas last week, and I dropped them off with photos attached along with our passports at the company that handles them in DC -- India Visa Center - Travisa Outsourcing -- last Friday. The forms were a pain, especially because they don't give you enough room for some of the answers such as listing the countries you've visited in the last 10 years. We just listed them, some with abbreviations, until we could no longer add any. Also, I gave up on uploading digital photos and just pasted new ones on the form where indicated. (They indicated this might cause a slight delay.)
I just was notified that they are already waiting for pick-up, and it's only the following Tuesday! Cost was $76 per person.

Our India visas are on the FedEx truck on the way back to us. Not a project that I want to undertake again, so we applied for 10 year visas since we want to go to northern India on a land trip one of these days.

Eugene:
Agreed: the form was poorly designed and a major pain to fill out. I think I did it three times! But, I, too, used Travisa Outsourcing.. here in NYC. Dropped the stuff off Monday morning. Picked up the Visas on Tuesday afternoon. At least, that part went as per plan!
Leslie: YEA!!!

I probably should have spent a couple of days in NYC and gone to Travisa in person. They have had everything for a week and today the online status has finally been updated to "documents prepared to go to consulate". I need my passport back so I can send it off for the Myanmar visa!

I'm going to do the evisa for Cambodia for our pre. I'll let Regent overcharge me for the visa during the cruise. Besides the evisa does not work for the cruise port we will be at. (& Cambodia issues only single entry visas!) It is good for 3 months, so I need to wait until Feb to do it. It is all online (or so it seems)...That is good. I like to keep the Passport in sight.
Andrea: what are you doing in Myanmar?
