http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/hampshire/8160146.stm The QE2 is sailing to Cape Town to serve as a hotel at the V&A waterfront. The hotel will be ready in time for the June 2010 World Cup and stay for 18 months (through 2011). Could be an option for those on Roar III.

I thought it was moving to Dubai to become a hotel there.

From the article, sounds like things didn't work out in Dubai, as many things don't in this economy!

You are right Olivia, I had skimmed the article too quickly and missed that one sentence, although it seems to imply that in the future it might be reconsidered, maybe, sort of. :rolleyes:

Marcie, not going to happen: This is from the article.
He said the ship was expected to be moved to South Africa under its own power, but the sale contract with Cunard meant it could not carry passengers as a cruise ship.
That sure would be a nice way to get to South Africa, but not if you had to go to Dubai to catch the ship!
