We...or should I say my husband, Alan...received his letter today. I wonder if only one letter is received, if you have a household account. Anyone know the answer to this?
The upgrade certificate is good for specific sailings, if you book by February 15, 2006.

Isn't it interesting that in most cases the husbands seem to be the ones receiving the letter (ditto here!)? In my case I don't even use my DH's surname so they don't even know for a fact that we are married. Or maybe to save postage they are limiting the mailings to one per household?

I find it strange, too, Maria. This is why I ask if the letters are going out to one individual when a household account is set up. Do you have a household account? Perhaps this is their reasoning.

Yes, we have a household account but I'm the primary account holder :D ( my DH wouldn't know what a Goldpoints account is even if his life depended on it!) . I wouldn't think the Goldpoints accounts should have anything to do with it but who knows!

Yes, I was referring to the Goldpoints account. Then I give up on figuring this one out, Maria! I was hoping I was on to something! Not! :D

I got some mail yesterday that was postmarked December 28th (no, not THE letter). Post office appears to be acting on the "Snail Mail" concept. I think that these letter must be coming from a mailing house and from what I know they seem alphabetical.

Kathy, I'm not even sure this is correct. Denise in CA (last name F) got hers, my friend in Ft. Lauderdale (last name C) has NOT gotten his, Doug Burns in AZ got his?????????

interesting that only one spouse is getting the letter. someone should see if they're counting the two of you as one entity and not giving you your full cruise days.
seems if that's the case, then those who are married are paying for two people, but only getting credited for one.

Another theory...they're doing the alphabet backwards LOL (like everything else their marketing department seems to do!)
The fact that the letters are going to the gentlemen is another example! If they aren't sharp enough to know that a lot of the booking and planning is done by the woman of the household, I guess they aren't reading this board after all.
Just my 2 cents (from a woman, who's last names starts with D, living in Florida, without a letter)!

I think of all the negative aspects of this new program, sending this message to only the male in a household is just plain DUMB! Someone at Radisson has decided that women are only appendages to their husband. It is like the old laws that declared a wife to be the property of her husband. Or certain religions where the women are not equal to the men.
I am shocked that, even if they have this Single Entity view, they did not address the letters at least to Mr & Mrs!
But in keeping with their view of a couple as beng a single entity, I suppose that for the sake of consistency, from now on a couple will have to pay only one fare for a cruise, not two. That part sounds good to me! ;)
A Bad day at Sea is better than a Good day on Land!

"Radisson has decided that women are only appendages to their husband"
Interesting comment Gil. I would venture to guess that more than half of RSSC cruise bookings are made by the appendages. My husband never would have set foot on a ship if I had not booked the trips. I am sure our letter will be addressed to him! Cheers, Pam

Well....THE LETTER has arrived, in contrast to the others, ours is addressed to Mr.& Mrs., with individual statements of the days cruised, both mine and Larry's included. The days are correct, with an unexpected bonus. They included days for a cruise we had booked and they cancelled on us. (very interesting) Hey, that's o.k. ;) We are only Silver, but considering the advantages they are offering for these tiers, I see little to get excited about, until one reaches Platinum status anyway. And I doubt that will happen for us, in this lifetime. Betty

Our letter HAS arrived and was addressed to Arlene. That is not surprising in that our next cruise, for some reason, is booked under her name. The Member number, however, does not match the numbers (different for both Arlene and I) that we have had in the past.

I got my SS letter yesterday. All of the cruises and total of nights are correct as listed. I am now a Gold Member. The most beneficial things I saw were two hours tf ship's telephone use. complementary internet access, and free pressing.
But I have a question (excuse me if it has been covered). I note that Platinum members also get "complimentary liquor." Does this mean that the rest of us no longer get the "room bottles" and drinks with dinner, or does this mean that the cruises are now "open bar" for the Platinum crowd?
Thanks, Richard

I read this as open bar for Platinum; as they deserve. I do not read this as any change with regard to the bottles in room.

Well we got ours today. It was addressed to both of us, Mr and Mrs, but there was a seperate page for each SS number, we each have a different number, listing our nights and cruises. Of course it was exactly as everyone has said. Guess I'll throw it in the folder with all our other "past passenger" memberships. It is pretty limited sailings and I agree with CruiserPK - Pam - its pretty much the ones that had an upgrade special offer anyway, so its not too exciting. We are only Silver anyway, so it will take awhile for us to get any higher. It did say, that the benefits would apply to cruises after April 2006, but my interpretation was that you would start at the level they tell you that you are in the membership statement. (that question had been addressed somewhere in this thread, or maybe the other one).

I just got ours today. 42 days which makes me silver and probably silver for a looong time! It was addressed to Mark with no listing of my days but I guess I can assume they are the same as Marks :) My Song of Flower cruise was even on the list and that was pre Radisson days. At least, I think it was, if I remember correctly. That cruise was in 1995, does anyone remember when the Radisson was added to Seven Seas Cruises?

The 3 of us got our letters on Thursday. One person's cruise from NY- Bermuda is not on there. But, RSSC had taken that person out when we arrived at the pre-cruise hotel in NY and never put back in. She got on the ship. We are all silver. Will need to send in the form. The internet will be great. The last name starts with D. Jan

For some strange reason, Radisson did it RIGHT in our case and sent a separate letter listing our cruises and nights to both Carol and me.
About the only subjective comment I have is that it seems to be a LOOOOOONG way from Gold to Platinum!
Thanks, Richard

I had 2 or 3 cruises prior to the merger, but haven't gotten my letter yet. I'm anxiously waiting to see if my Seven Seas cruises are on the list, though it won't change my membership category.

Beth, the reason why I think the merger happened after 1995 is that I still use the doc holder from my SoF cruise that says Seven Seas Cruise Line" on it.

Whether they started from the top or the bottom of the alphabet...looks like the Matassa's and the Mondae's will be the last to receive THE letter. I hope ours arrives by the time we return in mid March! So much for the discount cruise certificate that needs to be booked by Feb. 15th!

Beth, I found this info: Radisson Seven Seas Cruises was formed of the merger between Diamond Cruise and Seven Seas Cruise Line in January 1995. But since I didn't go in January, maybe they were still handing out old cruise doc holders for my sailing :)

Karen, Could be that the announcement was made on our Nov '94 cruise with the merger to take effect sometime in '95. I would think RSSC would have had their own document holders, too.

Received ours today, Mr. Dennis Totman and Ms. Sandra Fay Totman, where they picked up my middle name ,I haven't a clue, unless maybe my passport, I have 70 days and Dennis has 54, we at least are both silver, might not ever get anymore since we have sorta jumped the boat(no pun intented) to Seabourn and have booked a Silversea. Who knows , no one does Tahiti better than Radisson, so we might get a few more.

We got our letter (for what little it's worth) today. It was addressed to both of us. I guess with a male couple they don't know which to exclude; so they do the correct thing and address it to both. Hmm, with a female couple, would they just exclude both of them??!! At this point, one cannot assume that any lack of good sense in this promotion, however extreme or bizarre, is beyond the capability of the addled RSSC marketing group. The cover letter from Mark Conroy is kind of pathetic in its enthusiasm and hyperbole, isn't it? The "host of wonderful new ways we're rewarding our loyal guests"... Yikes, that is goofy corporate speak at its most virulent, isn't it? Thank God the ships are still so wonderful; otherwise, the whole thing would be simply sad, no?? Cheers, Fred PS - They did get the days correct for both Pat and me - maybe that's because we've only been on four RSSC cruises and thus have fewer opportunities for the records to have been mangled.
