New dates were offered for the AMX points so we have added this promotion to all the bookings that qualify.

WINES- August 19, 2011 was one of the dates.

Lisa sent all those we identified with AMX Membership Rewards cards new invoices reflecting the addition of the promotion.

I know it is a hassle to get these points on your account but nice to have.

Ngaire, I know the message from Lisa said "This benefit requires having the specific AMEX card and will only be applicable after sailing.  Each individual will be responsible for corresponding with AMEX directly," but I wasn't sure exactly what we're supposed to do. Thanks, and yes it's a nice offer!

The points should post automatically to your AMX account within about 12 - 14 weeks from sailing. If the points do not post you need to contact AMX and request the points be applied. This is something we cannot do for you as it is your account and AMX will not communicate with us at all. All we can do is put the appropriate promotion on your booking.

On another thread on this board the situation was discussed by members from the January 4, 2011 cruise. Some just got the points automatically, others had to call and Joanna learned a code that you needed to quote to get them added manually.

The January 4th sailing was one of the first sailing offering this promotion hopefully now it has been running a while things will improve and it wlll be just automatic.

You just wait and see if they show up. Many from this board will be on the August 19 sailing and will share any information they get in regards to obtaining the points. I cannot even call AMX myself to figure it all out as I do not have an American Express Rewards card.'

To qualify the card must be one that earns AMX Membership Reward Points and not affiliated with any other program, for example, Starwood, Delta, Costco etc.

Ngaire is right this is an AMEX thing not B&K thing ... I think we all get so spoiled by her we expect her to handle everything

This is a pleasant surprise. I have not heard from Lisa yet, so I shot an e-mail to her since I assume this is being done via e-mail because Lynda already commented on Lisa's message.

I have a question about this and I just read the B&K Web site and the answer wasn't absolutely clear to me. Do all payments for the cruise have to be made using the specific AMX card that gets Membership Reward points? What if we already put the deposit down with a different AMX card that gets "miles" instead of MR points, for example? Or is this done like the AMX $300 OBC situation where you just have to ensure that all cruise payments are done with SOME AMX card as long as you have an AMX "true" platinum card??

Ngaire - CLEO is also an AMEX 25,000 bonus point cruise, and it will be our first time with this as we just got our AMEX card in Nov, but those of us on that cruise can also try an share our experiences as to how easily the points may or may not get posted.

Eugene - once we got our AMEX plat card, I was able to have Regent refund the deposit to my MC and recharge it to my AMEX, so check with your BK agent on that, but I'm pretty sure you can switch cards. I don't know the answer to your other question, but I'm sure your BK agent will.

Eugene, I'm pretty sure you have to use the Platinum card for all the payments in order to get the points. That is what I had to do for CLEO.

Below is the information on the promotion we originally sent out to everyone. All of the staff has been making a valiant effort to determine what type of AMX card people use. Lisa adds names to the qualifying list and we check every sailing for those names and add the promotions when they are announced.

We will now ONLY apply this to people who have used AMX MEMBERSHIP REWARDS cards for their cruise as listed in the flyer below. Names on the list.

Initially we applied it to ALL bookings who had any type of AMX card and send this flyer out to all those people. The problem arose as people got upset when they did not get their points even though they had a non-qualifying card. It is amazing how many people do not know the difference. It caused a huge headache for us with upset clients who anticipated points regardless of the explanations. Trying to do a "good" thing can backfire sometimes. So we are not going down this road again and will only add the promotion to bookings we KNOW qualify. No more mass flyers to determine status of peoples cards.

There are quite a few clients who do have different types of AMX cards. One affliated and a Platinum card. Lisa and I discussed this on Friday and she was going to contact those we know have two cards on qualifying cruises and we are going to make a new list to advise those clients when this situation occurs.

If you have two cards, an affiliated card Starwood and a Platinum card and want to ensure you are on that list and reading this then please shoot us an email accordingly.

ORIGINAL FLYER.

25,000 AMX Membership Points for your cruise

We found a promotion for 25,000 American Express Membership Rewards points that was being offered for select Regent cruises if the cruise was paid for with an American Express credit card that was enrolled in the Membership Rewards program at the time of booking. Your cruise was one of the qualifying voyage dates and this promotional amenity has been applied to your booking (see attached Regent invoice). The points are supposed to be posted to your Membership Rewards Account 8 to 10 weeks after the cruise.

Qualifying Cards and Payment Rules

Unlike the AMX Platinum program benefits where you can charge with any AMX card as long as you own an AMX Platinum card this promotion requires all payments must be directly on an AMX Membership Reward Card. These cards are listed below and/or link here American Express Membership Rewards Cards

Platinum Card®
Premier Rewards Gold Card
American Express®Green Card
American Express®Gold Card
ZYNC from American ExpressSM
Blue from
American Express®

Brown and Keene added this promotion to ALL qualifying cruises paid for by any AMX MEMBERSHIP card.

Brown and Keene had many bookings on qualifying cruises that have AMX cards on file but we have no idea what type of AMX cards have been used. By adding the promotion to every booking paid for with an AMX card, we ensure that the promotion is on record for those people who actually do have qualifying cards and it also covers those that had a qualifying AMX card when they made the booking but used another AMX card that doesn’t qualify and wish to change the card they are using for payment to receive the promotion.

Even though this promotion is reflected on your Regent invoice, if you have a non-qualifying AMX card the membership points WILL NOT be applied by AMX.

If your card qualifies and the points do not post to your Membership Rewards account, you will need to contact American Express directly as they will not release information to us regarding your credit card or rewards account. As noted above, this is only for American Express Rewards cards only. The American Express contact information provided for this promotion was 800-EXP-EARN Bonus ID: 6469 Offer Code: CAMX MR25 http://www.membershiprewards.com

Eugene- the information that you read on our web is a direct link to REGENT and it is not really that clear as you mention. We keep that link rather than our own information as that is constantly updated with the latest dates and program. Since the AMX Platinum program allows the use of another AMX card it is logical to assume that this program may have the same rules but it does not.

It does say this......
To be eligible to get bonus points, you must be enrolled in the Membership Rewards® program (“Program”) at the time of purchase and you must charge your trip on your eligible, enrolled American Express Card. Bonus points will be credited to your Program account 12-14 weeks after sailing, and Card eligibility is subject to verification.

Thanks for the clarification. Now I need to decide whether the 25,000 bonus points are worth it because the trade-off is with medallion qualification miles (MQM) on Delta to maintain "status." For every $25,000 spent on the Delta Plat. AMX card, one gets 10,000 MQM up to a total of 20,000 for $50,000 spent in a calendar year. We have needed those MQMs to maintain status on Delta because we don't fly for work. If I charge WINES on the "real" Platinum card for the 25,000 bonus points, at this point, it's hard to predict whether we'll meet the spending targets. Of course, we always spend more than we think we will :) during the year.

Decisions, decisions. confused

Eugene, I went through same decision process on FUN. I ended up deciding to use MR card and just pre-paying an additional amount on CANADA inorder to get up to 50K spending on DL.

Now, with BA card, I have to put $5K on in three months so will be purchasing a lot of gift cards to be used over the next year. There is always a way.

Yes, I thought of pre-paying some on SHAMROCK if needed at the end of the year. However, one difference between your situation and ours is that I think you fly somewhat more for work and other reasons than we do and accumulate status miles for actually flying.
