My daughter & family will be in Capetown next week. What are your favorite restaurants?
Suggestions will be appreciated.

There are @ 500,000 Indian folks in SA. If you like Indian food(Northern India), try Bukhara in Capetown. There are a lot of good restaurants in Camps Bay, Constantia, and up in the wine country around Franschoek as well. You can have a nice lunch on the patio at the Raddison in Capetown also.

If she is choosing to eat at the Victoria Wharf and wants seafood, my favourite restaurant is Baia. Each time we have eaten there, the service and food have been excellent. When we had to wait before getting a table, they also included a drink at the lounge before our meal.

Love Baia. First choice. If you want an usual and fun African experience, we enjoyed the African Cafe.

Here's Baia's menu. What's not to like?
Great place.

Joan and I will be in Cape Town before our Cape Town to Ft. Lauderdale cruise in early December. Thanks for the recommendations; they are very appealing. I've read a lot of good reviews of Savoy Cabbage Restaurant in Cape Town. ( Savoy Cabbage web page )

There are 2 restaurants in the Capetown area that are on the 50 best in the world list. La Colombe in Capetown and Le Quartier Francais in Franschoek. The list is on today's Drudge Report. Haven't been to either, but we haven't been to Capetown since 2006. Will be there next March.

We have just returned from CPT. Dined at La Colombe and thought that it was over rated...not bad, just over rated. Also be aware that unless you have a car, there is a 25-30 minute cab or hotel car ride to these wineland restaurants which adds about 80-100$ to your evening. We did have a wonderful lunch on the terrace overlooking vineyards in Stellenbosch at Tokara.
Agree totally re 95Keroom.Recommend the beef carpaccio and the fabulous gnocchi. Make a reservation for a window table at Baia. Aubergine was a nice setting & service but the menu was not for us; must be for others as it was well occupuied.

I wasn't recommending any of the restaurants other than Bukhara. Just thought a 50 best list would give a good indication. When we go to Capetown we are guests of friends who live in Constantia. We just go where they take us and we've never had a meal that wasn't fantasic. There are many excellent restaurants in the Capetown and winelands area, but, as with any area, things change rapidly. When we want to go somewhere on our own we use one of his cars. He won't let me drive either of his Lamborghinis though. Rats!
